Hey Midlife Mama- Feeling the changes with your kids as they leave the nest? Midlife is a time where you will experience a lot of changes in family relationships as you support launching kids, aging parents and a fellow-midlife spouse…And you may feel a sense of uncertainty as to your role in their life, especially as you parent adult (or nearly adult) kids. Remember, they do still need (and want) you around. It's just that they don't need you in the same way as when they were younger. And no life does NOT get less busy once they're gone, cuz now they're all spread out...So what's a midlife girl to do when home life is changing and those once littles are now spreading their wings? Why is waiting so difficult? Can it actually benefit us to wait? As a goal-driven woman, the spiritual discipline of waiting is so, so hard! Is there a way to make it easier? Do you feel it? The hurry? The hustle? The busyness of life? But what happens when you get stuck waiting on something, and you can't just hustle through it? That was me this past year. After moving to Colorado, my husband lost his full-time job two weeks later, and we quickly began the waiting phase. And we kept waiting, and waiting, and waiting.  Sometimes I questioned where God was in all of this, but then I remembered just how He moved us where He did and all the provisions He had for us along the way. But it didn't mean we didn't have to wait.  What is it that we should do in the waiting to make things a bit easier on ourselves? Well, that's what we're diving into today, and I'm bringing marriage and family therapist Jessica Hayes back on the show to share with us just how we can incorporate a few disciplines into our waiting that will help us grow personally and spiritually. Ep. 91 | What Does Walking in Love and Justice Mean from a Biblical Standpoint?

Red Hot Mindset

Ecclesiastes 1:9 says, “What has been will be again, what has been done will be done again; there is nothing new under the sun.”  What do we need to remember? The Bible is our standard, and it has outlasted time. We don't get to pick and choose what we want to be true. We don't get to change who God says we are just because we don't feel like ourselves today. The Bible is our standard, and as Christians, we see things through that lens, that's what a Biblical worldview is, and that is why it's important for us to be in the Word, praying, journaling, studying, growing. If we are not solid in the Word of God, we could fall for anything.  So how do we take a stand on God's Word in love, walking in love without changing our standards? How do you walk in love and justice from a Biblical perspective? What does this look like? What boundaries do we need to set up for ourselves? How do we not get walked all over yet continue to show love to others? How do we show love to the unloving? These are questions of our day, and today is an encouraging conversation because I'm bringing on marriage and family therapist Jessica Hayes to help us navigate how to walk in love and justice without giving up our moral or Biblical standards. Ask any remote work leader about the hybrid model, and their assessment isn't positive. How to handle a culture mixed between in-office & remote workers will be almost impossible. Yet, there is a use case where it may work. It's based simply on the flexibility of that office. Allowing employees to choose if/how/when/why they'll spend time in an office vs vice versa. In this episode, we speak with Jessica Hayes the VP of People at Whereby. Whereby has been a 'remote first' hybrid company. Having 2 official office spaces and a few unofficial ones. She discusses how companies can use offices to their advantage in the future of work. For more details and a full transcript click here. To learn more about the show click here.
