Hometown Radio 05/19/25 5p: Transgender activist and author Jessica Lynn
In this unforgettable Full Frontal of What's Your Position, we sit down with the incomparable Jessica Lynn—international speaker, educator, and trans rights advocate whose personal story has changed laws, hearts, and minds around the world. With raw vulnerability and unapologetic brilliance, Jessica opens up about her decades-long fight for truth, identity, and justice—including her high-profile custody battle that became a lightning rod in the global conversation around transgender rights. We explore her evolution from a life lived in hiding to one of radical visibility, and how her scientific knowledge, emotional intelligence, and deep compassion have made her one of the most sought-after voices in gender education today. Fewer than 30% of trans adults over 50 say they have strong support systems. Jessica is changing that—one conversation, one courtroom, and one country at a time. This episode is honest, intimate, and full of the kind of truth that lingers long after the mic goes off. Whether you're questioning, learning, or unlearning, Jessica's story will move you to think deeper, love harder, and show up louder. Check out her website here: Jessica's Website

Dan Zlotnick has been called “the Americana voice of Westchester County, New York” because his joyous, warm energy emanates through his songs and performances. After a three-year independent minor league baseball career, Dan began writing and performing original music. A child of classic rock radio who dug deep into folk music in college, Dan half-jokingly claims that Jimmy Page taught him guitar and John Prine taught him lyric-writing. His sound is like the multi-generational family photo hanging on the wall, and his lyrics are like the stories you share with your best friends after a hearty home cooked meal. Dan has made fans and friends in living rooms, backyards, and small venues around the country, as well as on prestigious stages like Tarrytown Music Hall, Paramount Hudson Valley Theater, Daryl's House Club, Garcia's at The Capitol Theatre, Pleasantville Music Festival, and Towne Crier Cafe. He has opened for artists including Drew Holcomb, The Felice Brothers, Marc Cohn, Patty Larkin, Jim Avett, Jessica Lynn, Arlen Roth, and more. Whether it's a spin of his latest release, an unplugged solo acoustic house concert, a full band rock show, or something in between, Dan Zlotnick's passion for honest storytelling resonates with everyone who decides to check him out. This week, Jupiter in Taurus pays off on our North Node dreams. Venus and Neptune provide a beautiful moment for showing affection and opening our hearts, though we should be a little careful about opening our wallets. The Sagittarius Full Moon takes us to Egypt (if only telepathically!), and Mercury and Uranus offer sudden realizations, revelations, and perceptions. And April answers a Listener Question about empty houses in the horoscope (spoiler alert: it might be a good thing!). Plus: A bugle, an open book, and a barren wasteland! We're live on-location at Lynn's Table in Old Town Spring discussing the many different shopping, dining, and entertainment opportunities to celebrate the magic of the holidays and support local small businesses. 99.7% of businesses in the United States are small businesses, so the economic impact of these businesses is profound. The district director of the Small Business Administration in Houston spoke with us about the importance of supporting these businesses and how it helps spur the economic growth of our local community. We also learned about the history of Old Town Spring, dating back to the mid-1800s. Starting as a farming community, Old Town Spring later became a booming railroad town, before it turned into the tourist and shopping destination it is today. Be sure to visit the Spring Historical Museum for more history on Old Town Spring. Then, we hear about the wide variety of shops found in the town featuring everything from antiques, apparel and accessories, home décor, hats, specialty boutiques, and treats from different countries, such as Germany, The Netherlands, and Britain. It's perfect for finding unique gifts for your family and friends. Plus, when you're ready to take a break from shopping, there are a variety of great restaurant options in town. Our host for the day, Lynn's Table, also shared with us the amazing food and desserts you can enjoy there, including homemade fudge. We even enjoy a visit from Santa and Ms. Claus of Old Town Spring who share how they're spreading holiday cheer to children of all ages this Christmas.
