On Valentine's Day of this year, James Felice of Hudson Valley rock mainstay, The Felice Brothers, released his debut solo album “The Little Ones” via Conor Oberst's Million Stars Records. The songs on the record are anything but little. Reflective distress echoes through lessons sought and found in the lyrics. Realizations bloom in the characters singing their choruses. The melodies and instrumentation push the sometimes timid narrators - all in James' voice - to keep sharing their stories until the end of the tune.James Felice joined us at The Linda.

Dan Zlotnick has been called “the Americana voice of Westchester County, New York” because his joyous, warm energy emanates through his songs and performances. After a three-year independent minor league baseball career, Dan began writing and performing original music. A child of classic rock radio who dug deep into folk music in college, Dan half-jokingly claims that Jimmy Page taught him guitar and John Prine taught him lyric-writing. His sound is like the multi-generational family photo hanging on the wall, and his lyrics are like the stories you share with your best friends after a hearty home cooked meal.   Dan has made fans and friends in living rooms, backyards, and small venues around the country, as well as on prestigious stages like Tarrytown Music Hall, Paramount Hudson Valley Theater, Daryl's House Club, Garcia's at The Capitol Theatre, Pleasantville Music Festival, and Towne Crier Cafe. He has opened for artists including Drew Holcomb, The Felice Brothers, Marc Cohn, Patty Larkin, Jim Avett, Jessica Lynn, Arlen Roth, and more. Whether it's a spin of his latest release, an unplugged solo acoustic house concert, a full band rock show, or something in between, Dan Zlotnick's passion for honest storytelling resonates with everyone who decides to check him out. Embracing country music's forward progression, Ryann's "storyteller" lyrics and unique vocal stylings showcase her influences from country, pop, and rock music. Recently compared to the likes of Ashley McBryde and Sara Evans, her sound is what sets her apart from other country artists on the scene. The New England native is no stranger to the music industry, spending most of her late teens and early 20's auditioning for TV shows such as American Idol, Nashville Star, and The Voice to assist in jump-starting her career. When that proved to be more of a dead end than an open road, the former firefighter turned fashion model turned musician looked to friends and fellow musicians Eliot Lewis (of the legendary pop duo Hall & Oates) and Kevin Totoian to help forge her own path into the music industry. In late 2018, Ryann released her debut, self-titled, EP and has been releasing singles ever since. According to Music and Tour News, “Stephanie Ryann is set to become one of the genre's most revered artists,” and with a catalog boasting over 400,000 streams across platforms, it's not hard to understand why. Ryann has had the privilege of sharing a stage with several fellow artists, including Cole Swindell, Tenille Arts, Jackson Dean, Morgan Myles, Eliot Lewis, Carolyn Miller, Jamie McLean, The Felice Brothers, and Midnight North.  Stephanie Ryann has been featured on an impressive list of media outlets including CMT, Celeb Secrets, Digital Journal, NY"s 94.7, and BCMA and has been named "Artist of the Year" by The Wood Music and awarded "2020 Song of the Year"  by Rt 66 Country Music. Ryann has also been named “One to Watch” by NSAI (Nashville Songwriter's Association). While COVID-19 shut down most of the music industry, Ryann took the opportunity to hone her songwriting skills and teach herself guitar. With a new skill under her belt, a new side of Ryann began to shine with the release of songs like her COVID-inspired single, “Nights Like These”, and her fierce female anthem, "I Should". "Learning guitar completely changed my approach to songwriting. It opened my eyes (and ears) to a whole new side of myself and I'm leaning into that with everything I've got," says Ryann. Delivering over 100 live streams concerts with various media outlets including radio stations, music venues, and online festivals, Ryann shows no signs of slowing down anytime soon.Stay tuned for new music!Sponsor Link:WWW.ECOTRIC.COMBackstage Pass Radio Social Media Handles:Facebook - @backstagepassradiopodcast @randyhulseymusicInstagram - @Backstagepassradio @randyhulseymusicTwitter - @backstagepassPC @rhulseymusicWebsite - backstagepassradio.com and randyhulsey.comArtist Media Handles:Instagram  - https://www.instagram.com/stephanieryannmusic/Facebook - https://www.facebook.com/stephanieryannmusicCall to actionWe ask our listeners to like, share, and subscribe to the show and the artist's social media pages. Their current lineup, with the addition of bassist and inaugural female Felice member Jesske Hume (Conor Oberst, Jade Bird) and drummer Will Lawrence (also a singer/songwriter) as their rhythm section, promises to be the best yet. Nathaniel Walcott (trumpet) and Mike Mogis (pedal steel player) act as an accompaniment throughout the tracks, the latter of whom mixed From Dreams to Dust, which was produced by The Felice Brothers. A folk-Americana-rock-country band with deep roots in varied genres, The Felice Brothers are what Rolling Stone lauds as “musician's musicians” and poets. Indeed, Ian has proven his pedigree as a poet with the publication of his limited-edition collection of poetry Hotel Swampland (2017).They are known by fans for their catchy tunes like “Frankie's Gun,” “Love Me Tenderly,” “Cherry Licorice,” and “Lion” and, more recently, 2019's “Undress” and “Special Announcement,” but they offer much more than a great sound. Seamlessly interweaving bizarre catalogs of literary and pop-culture references with vivid portrayals of life and its kaleidoscope of tragedies and hopes, their lyrics and dazzling musical accompaniment not only sound good but demand introspection.  Some of the themes that run through their music, as Ian states, “are perennial” and are centered around “searching for something or transformation.”  Others explore “characters trying to achieve some ideal they're striving for” or who are “being weighed down by reality.”

Cincinnati, OH based Folk-Rock outfit, The Heavy Hours just released their latest ep, Wildflowers in August. This collection of songs was recorded in Woodstock NY, in the dead of winter. With two feet of snow on the ground, and in a small mountain town, the band was cut off from the outside world. And this was a good thing. Recording and making the best music they could was the only thing on their mind. Simone Felice, of the the Felice Brothers, produced the EP and helped guide the band in their journey to find a sound that paid homage to the past, but still felt like something new. The Heavy Hours began by rehearsing in a family owned abandoned house, and have recently been co-writing with a certain member of the Black Keys. As a touring band, the seasons have a strong connection to their travel playlists - and specific songs bring them back to very areas of the country that they visited. Thanks for listening and don't forget to review, share and subscribe to the podcast! The Felice Brothers, Ian (guitar and lead vocals) and James (multi-instrumentalist and vocals), hail from the Catskills, NY, where their early songs echoed off subway walls and kept company with travelers and vagrants. Seamlessly interweaving bizarre catalogues of literary and pop-culture references with vivid portrayals of life and its kaleidoscope of tragedies and hopes, their lyrics and dazzling musical accompaniment not only sound good but demand introspection.  Some of the themes that run through their music, as Ian states, “are perennial” and are centered around “searching for something or transformation.”  Others explore “characters trying to achieve some ideal they're striving for” or who are “being weighed down by reality.”   Hosted on Acast.
