Everyone tells us that entrepreneurship can be a lonely journey, but no one knows the vulnerable truth of how loneliness in entrepreneurship feels even when you are surrounded by friends and family who love you. We're afraid to let people know the reality of what's going on because we don't want to undermine our own efforts or look like we don't have it all together.  This mindset can lead us to feeling burned out and disconnected. That's why in today's episode I chat with Jessica Sanchez, a Dallas business owner, about loneliness, how we can combat it, and vulnerable truths no one talks about.  Get ready to feel heard, understood and inspired.    About the Guest:  Jessica Sanchez, a USAF Veteran, mom, creative, entrepreneur, and founder of the ColorPOP Print Studio. Want to connect? Here are 3 ways to connect with me or other adventure families through Ordinary Sherpa: For a quick 1:1 with Heidi buy me a coffee  For a cohort adventure challenge: https://ordinarysherpa.com/challenge In a community of other adventure families: https://ordinarysherpa.com/arena Website for this episode: https://ordinarysherpa.com/061 I was first exposed to the Jetsetting Family through their podcast when I was looking for inspiration from families who travel.  Through their podcast episodes and Instagram feed I felt like I was on so many of the travels with them and they opened up my world to places I hadn't heard of or were not in my zone of awareness.   Jessica is a photographer and social media content creator for The Jetsetting Family. Three years ago, she sold most of her stuff and took her family on a full-time adventure around the world. In two years, she visited more than 40 countries with her husband and two young children, working with dozens of brands in the travel and hospitality industry. She now calls Florida home, and is always ready for the next big adventure! Key Takeaways They bought a home that ended up being exhausting.  It felt like “we were always saving for the next repair.”  They were spending so much time and money on things that weren't important to their family. One of the items they wanted to prioritize was travel. When single, young and had all the energy in the world she liked fast travel. But with 2 young kids, fast travel was exhausting.   The transition from vacation mindset to lifestyle mindset is a learning curve.  After 9 months the settled into a routine of having 2 down days and work days built.  You can only travel as long as your budget allows.  They planned to travel for 6 months, thanks to Instagram following they were given discounted free stays reducing their expenses. Then expanded to tours and eventually at the end of their 2 years of full-time travel had secured substantial paid contracts.   “If you are going to travel full-time you have to learn to take everything as it comes.  The reality of travel is there are beautiful moments and there are really hard moments.”  “Yes kids might not remember the travels, but seeing how they adapt, the funny questions they ask along the way, and how it becomes so normal to them is really a beautiful experience” (9:09) Cruises are great taste test of where you want to go, but don't allow you to go deep.  Transitioning home she is reminded of how much more exhausting it is to travel from a home base than to travel full-time.  When you are traveling full-time you aren't thinking about what to pack because everything you own is with you.  It costs a lot to travel and own a home.  I think people see full-time travel families as families who are really wealthy, or have some secret to life.  The reality is you are substituting living expenses instead of paying car ownership expenses you are paying for a flight, instead of rent or mortgage you pay for lodging. Being at home it feels like we have our own independent lives, we spent much more time together while traveling. After a year of travel, anytime they were at a location 1 month or longer they would enroll in local schools or activities where they would have daily exposure to other kids.   Families interested in exploring full time travel might want to explore Instagram. Many families are passionate about the lifestyle and want to make it accessible. Send them a DM and ask your questions, chances are they have content or insights to share.   For every bucket list place you go, you end up adding 2 more.  You meet people and they offer gems or suggestions.     Lessons learned from fulltime travel: https://www.thejetsettingfamily.com/lessons/  Pros and Cons of travel vs. being home.  To follow or connect with Jessica Sanchez:  Website: www.thejetsettingfamily.com Email: hello@thejetsettingfamily.com Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/Thejetsettingfamily Instagram: @thejetsettingfamily

Dianne Matibag (DJ Chloe) has worked as a radio host across several stations in the Philippines and Qatar, including Mellow 94.7fm, Wave 89.1fm, Qabayan 94.3fm, and now QBS 97.5fm - where we both met. This was a great conversation!  Dianne reflects on her beginnings and details the hazing culture that existed in the radio industry back then. Did you know radio is a big deal in the Philippines? So are podcasts; she hosts “Great Connections” with Podcast Network Asia, where she speaks to overseas Filipino workers about their experiences abroad. We weighed out the pros & cons of being signed to a podcast network. What was her most memorable live celebrity interview? Avril Lavigne, John Legend, Jessica Sanchez, the one I got fixated on, was Maria Ozawa, a pornstar who was prominent in Japan. From then on, the conversation took many bizarre turns. I chime in with a story about a rehabilitated arsonist in New Zealand to yet another Illuminati invitation (the first one was in episode #2). She shares her passion for scuba diving, and of course, sticking with the theme of the podcast, I had to ask Dianne for advice on “how to live a better life?” She had a whole list to offer; this is one you don't want to miss.  Subscribe to the podcast for more! Okay, we admit it's wishful thinking. The pandemic isn't quite over. In some places it's as bad as ever. But we are both vaccinated, so we are feeling like we've awakened from a bad dream and are ready to move forward. Today, we wrap up our series about church and youth ministry post-covid. While we thought our first two conversations were helpful, our topic today is the most important of all. How do we care for our souls as youth workers in this crazy, post-pandemic world? We are excited to share the rest of our conversation with our two friends. James Sabin is the Youth and Family Pastor at Kingdom Community Church in Morgantown, WV, where he has served for 11 years. Jessica Sanchez is a trained spiritual director, a long-time youth ministry volunteer, the Director of Marketplace for Download Youth Ministry, and co-host of the Download Youth Ministry Podcast with Doug Fields, Josh Griffin and Katie Edwards. Let's face it – this year was hard on our souls. We experienced stress, interruption, disruption, conflict, isolation, loss of relationships, and even loss of life. As pastors and youth workers, we found ourselves being asked for answers while we were searching for them ourselves. We would be remiss if we didn't take some time to reflect on this experience and what we can learn from it. Our conversation covered such tough topics as, how to respond when you are angry at how other Christians are responding, how to implement personal spiritual practices to help us avoid falling into the busy trap we were in before covid, and how to lead not only our students, but our congregations, into healthier spiritual habits for the next season. All of this with two friends of ours who are honest, vulnerable, humble and wise. You will be blessed. Jessica is an afro-latina who grew up in Brooklyn, NYC with her cultural Puerto Rican roots. She is a wife, mother, entrepreneur and domestic violence advocate. “My goal to help inspire other women like me is the key factor to my motivation. I have a background of being sexually abused as a young girl, a child of a domestic violent marriage and then went on to being a victim in my own domestic violent relationship. When I finally gathered the courage to leave the relationship and remain a single parent, I went on a path of self -healing and accountability of my own actions, goals and dreams. I became a Christian and believed in self development spiritually and mentally. I was able to find new love and become a wife. I began IAMJESS so that other women can become confident in who they are. They can know that a journey to healing and self-love first begins with accountability along with faith.""Hard work ALWAYS pays off.Live, Laugh, Love!" I sat down with NY attorney Jessica Sanchez who shares why she became an attorney, how she commandeered a path as one of the only females in a male-dominated NYC law firm to ultimately leave and start her own firm. She did that as a newly divorced single mother and pounded the pavement to generate a clientele that would sustain a one-woman practice. She shares her management philosophies ("manage clients, not staff"), how she learned to command higher prices and establish firm standards for collecting fees. Jessica has mastered balancing her personal + professional life on her own terms and making her business give her the life she desires. She is a pioneer for women and gives great advice if you are also thinking of opening your own firm.

The first remix I ever produced with DJ Leanh from Brazil was "Stronger Together" by Jessica Sanchez. And those two words, "stronger together," is how I would so fittingly describe the relationship with my extremely talented co-producer. Until that remix, I honestly had been struggling with how my remixes were sounding. There were elements of the mix that I couldn't quite figure out, and was growing tired of creating what I thought was sub-par work. When you a music producer, you are expected to be a "band in a box," if you will. You have to not only have to know how to run the music production software, and have a basic understanding of music, but you have to also be a "drummer," a "bass player," a "keyboard player," and so forth. Essentially, when you remix a song, all we are given are the vocal parts - and the rest is up to us. Drum patterns, percussion elements, bass rhythms, chords, melodic hooks, and so forth, are all for the producers to come up with. Of course, if you know what you're doing, it's an incredibly satisfying thing to produce a piece of music, and have it go out into the world, and affect people in a positive way. But it's an incredibly daunting task when there are areas where you know you lack in. Having formed a connection with Leanh after playing at his club in Brazil, I reached out to him asking if he would help me on a remix I was currently working on that needed to be finished in a week. It was "Stronger Together." I sent him the work I had done so far, and within a few days, our first co-production was born. Since then, a musical relationship has been formed that's made me fall in love with music all over again. I am so incredibly proud of the remixes that Leanh & I have produced over the last 2 years. It's been even more rewarding to see the response to these remixes on the dance floors across the words, especially with "This Is Me." We produce music from the heart, and hope that it's received in a positive way. So, thank you so much for accepting this music we made into your lives! May it lift you up, shake you down, and make you feel alive the way it does us! We'd like to thank Brad Lebeau, Bobby Shaw, Carmen Cacciatore & Orlando Puerto for the opportunity to remix so many great songs, and believing in us & our vision. We are very grateful. And thanks to Travis Sedler for the podcast cover design. And finally, while we are so thrilled to present this "best of" podcast to you, we are even more excited to show you what is coming next! :) Track Listing (All remixes produced by Joe Gauthreaux & Leanh): This Is Me - Keala Settle (Intro Mix) Something Just like This - Coldplay (bootleg mix) Anywhere - Rita Ora Thank U, Next - Ariana Grande Gimme! Gimme! Gimme! (A Man After Midnight) - Cher Internash - Dex Experience Ain't No Mountain High Enough - Diana Ross (Dub) Everybody's Free - Rozalla (bootleg mix) Stronger Together - Jessica Sanchez Shallow - Bradley Cooper & Lady Gaga All Out Of Love - Air Supply Made For Now - Janet Jackson Stop Me From Falling - Kylie Minogue (bootleg mix) Your Song - Rita Ora For all the latest information, including play dates, music and more, visit my website at www.djjoeg.com.

Rod and Jessica Sanchez thought they had it all… A comfortable home, comfortable jobs, and a comfortable routine. The "American Dream" was theirs for the taking. But what if that dream didn't turn out to be their dream? The more they worked, the less time they got to spend together. During their children's most formative years, they'd be spending the majority of their time away from them. The more they thought about it, the less it made sense. Turns out, either they're really impatient or they weren't made to live that kind of life to begin with. Because of this, they decided to sell everything, quit their jobs and travel the world as the Jetsetting Family. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices
