On the Season 5 premiere of the NC State Philanthropy Podcast, we're joined by Eva Feucht, director of the Park Scholarships program, to talk about its invaluable role here at NC State — and a milestone it's celebrating this fall. The Park Scholarships program was established in 1996 through the generosity of the Park Foundation, which was created by NC State alumnus Roy H. Park '31. Following Park's passing, his family established the scholarship program to commemorate his love for his alma mater and to help others succeed during their own time on campus. Feucht is one of those alumni, having graduated in 2002 as part of Park's third class of students. Other donors have joined the Park Foundation in supporting the scholarship program over the years, making gifts of all sizes to power its efforts. A new partnership with the Stamps Scholars program will enable even more Park Scholars to join the Wolfpack and then make a lasting impact on the world around them as NC State alumni. Wer viel am PC sitzt, schon etwas älter oder in den Wechseljahren ist, kennt das Problem von trockenen Augen. Diese Tricks helfen dem Tränenfilm. Viele kennen das: ein Gefühl wie Sandpapier auf den Augen. Das hängt auch mit dem Älterwerden zusammen – das Auge wird im Alter trockener. Auch Menschen, die viel am Computer sitzen, kennen das Gefühl von Trockenheit in den Augen. Das liegt am starren Blick – am PC blinzelt man schlichtweg weniger. Schädlich ist die Computerarbeit für die Augen per se aber nicht. Zum Glück kann man selber schon viel gegen trockene Augen tun, bevor man zum Arzt oder zur Ärztin geht. Zum Beispiel das Auge mit künstlichen Tränen, also Augentropfen befeuchten. Ein Zuviel gibt es da nicht: «Man kann die Augen problemlos einmal in der Stunde tropfen, wenn einem das gut tut», sagt Augenärztin Vera Stucki.

We finally welcome George Feucht, friend of the Cinepod and frequent collaborator of Ben Rock's. George has shot many of Ben's directorial projects, such as the web series, 20 Seconds To Live and the short film, Future Boyfriend. Cinematographer George Feucht grew up in a small town in Wisconsin, where the closest movie theater was about 20 miles away. Working on high school and local theater productions gave George an education in lighting. He also learned photography, getting a job as a photo journalist for the local newspaper. Once George enrolled in USC film school, he learned about storytelling and set etiquette. He realized that becoming a cinematographer brought all of these skills together. After college, George began working as an electrician and cameraman for home improvement and reality TV shows. He enjoyed working on reality shows because it's challenging work- setting up and lighting shots, yet with little to no control over the unscripted action. He then made his first feature, Dance of the Dead with his friend, director Greg Bishop. They worked together again on a horror feature called Siren. George began working on Jimmy Kimmel Live! shooting comedy bits such as “Mean Tweets” outside the studio for the field department. They often have to shoot the sketches on the same day the show airs. George says the secret to working so fast is to have a great team, with great producers who figure out all the logistics. The writers are also incredible, coming up with something brilliant that can be done in a very limited timeframe, often with very famous A-list actors. It's an unpredictable and challenging job that changes every day, but George enjoys being a part of making something funny. For the improvised, man on the street comedy bits, he has to pull his own focus and try to get the comedy timing right. Everyone on the crew feels like a family, and George enjoys watching Jimmy working during the rehearsals. Jimmy Kimmel Live! is dark for now because of the writer's strike. (Adam@TheWorldview.com) By Jonathan Clark Nigerian Muslims kidnapped 53 Christians, killed one on Christmas Fulani Muslim herdsmen in Nigeria, Africa and other terrorists killed one Christian and kidnapped 53 more on Christmas Day in southern Kaduna state. This comes after militants killed 40 believers in the week leading up to Christmas. One local resident said, “Mass graves litter the community and the countryside. Our people can no longer go to their farms for fear of being gunned down or macheted. Lamentably, the Fulani terrorist attacks have continued unabated as they are heard chanting, ‘Allah Akbar [Allah, the moon god, is greater]' during the killing and destructive expeditions.” Please pray for our persecuted brothers and sisters in Christ in Nigeria. GOP conservatives reject Kevin McCarthy for House Speaker The House adjourned without a speaker on Tuesday for the first time in a century after Republican Congressman Kevin McCarthy of California failed in a third straight vote for the gavel, reports Politico.com. It comes after 19 Republican conservatives derailed McCarthy's first and second vote to become Speaker, throwing the party further into chaos on their first day in the majority. Twenty House Republicans threw their support behind GOP Rep. Jim Jordan of Ohio, who has repeatedly said he does not want the gavel, which sunk McCarthy's bid to take the position on the opening day of Congress. In fact, Republican Congressman Matt Gaetz of Florida slammed Kevin McCarthy as he nominated Jim Jordan. Listen. GAETZ: “Maybe the right person for the job of Speaker of the House isn't someone – [McCarthy] -- who wants it so bad. Maybe the right person for the job of Speaker of the House isn't someone who has sold shares of themselves for more than a decade to get it. (surprised reaction) Maybe Jim Jordan is the right person for Speaker of the House because he is not beholden to the lobbyists and special interests who have corrupted this place and corrupted this nation under the leadership of both Republicans and Democrats. “Maybe Jim Jordan would be the right person for Speaker of the House because he wouldn't fight us when we try to get a term limits bill on the floor. Maybe Jim Jordan would be the right person because he wouldn't fight us when we try to put a balanced budget on the floor and vote for it. And maybe Jim Jordan is the right person because he would endorse the plan that was built by the Texas delegation to finally secure our border.” McCarthy, who can only afford to lose four votes out of the 222 Republican members, is facing an uphill battle to take over the gavel from Nancy Pelosi. Before the vote, Gaetz said, "Those of us who will not be voting for Kevin McCarthy today take no joy in this discomfort that this moment has brought. But if you want to drain the swamp, you cannot put the biggest alligator in charge of the exercise. I'm a Florida man and I know of what I speak.” New York judge allows people to pack heat at church Last Thursday, a U.S. federal judge temporarily blocked a New York State law that prohibits people from carrying firearms in houses of worship. Pastor Michael Spencer of His Tabernacle Family Church is challenging the law and is represented by First Liberty Institute. Ryan Gardner with First Liberty said, “Singling out houses of worship for total disarmament demonstrates hostility toward religion, leaves them defenseless to rebuff violent attacks, sticks the state's nose into how religious services are conducted, and defies at least two recent Supreme Court rulings against New York.” Sean Feucht vs. Antifa at defaced San Diego church Antifa members defaced City View Church's building in San Diego, California last week. The church was planning on holding a New Year's Eve worship service led by Christian singer Sean Feucht. Police are investigating the attack as a hate crime. The far-left activists spray painted profanities and threats on the church building. According to a video of one tweet, Feucht told ChurchLeaders.com, “The church isn't a building. We're the bride of Christ and in 2023 we're rising up like never before.” FEUCHT: “Rejoice and be glad. So, that's what we're going to do in San Diego tonight. We've been persecuted. All kinds of crazy stuff has been said. This church has been vandalized. But you know what? Tonight, you're going to see a resilient church. This is a prophetic night for what God is doing in 2023. You're going to see a church rising up in boldness, rising up in courage.” Matthew 5:10-12 says, “Blessed are you when people insult you, persecute you and falsely say all kinds of evil against you because of Me. Rejoice and be glad, because great is your reward in Heaven, for in the same way they persecuted the prophets who were before you.” Court upholds school's right to restrict bathrooms to biological sex Last Friday, the 11th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals upheld a Florida school district's anti-transgender policy. The St. Johns County School Board has a bathroom policy that distinguishes students based on biological sex. A female student pretending to be a boy sued the school over the policy. The ruling noted, “The school board's bathroom policy is clearly related to — indeed, is almost a mirror of — its objective of protecting the privacy interests of students to use the bathroom away from the opposite sex and to shield their bodies from the opposite sex in the bathroom.” Wall Street's worst year since 2008 And finally, Wall Street ended its worst year since 2008 last Friday. All three major stock indices reported painful losses. The Dow Jones Industrial Average was down nearly 8% for 2022. The S&P 500 dropped nearly 20%, and the tech-heavy Nasdaq fell over 30%. Media and tech companies recorded some of the biggest losses. The Walt Disney Company, Netflix, Comcast and other media groups lost over half a trillion dollars in market value last year. Disney stock, in particular, dropped 45% as the company continues to support sexually perverted lifestyles. There are two phenomena that we hear a lot about these days in connection to the NAR: The Seven Mountains Mandate and Sean Feucht. The former is a theology, or ideology, or brand depending on who you ask. It proposes that Christians have a call to dominate every sphere, or mountain, of earthly existence--from the economy to entertainment to politics. It was first popularized by Lance Wallnau, a popular figure in NAR circles and one of C. Peter Wagner's closest followers. But before diving into the Seven Mountains and Wallnau, we need to figure out where another ubiquitous NAR phenomenon came from - the Charismatic Troubdaor Sean Feucht. In Part I of this episode, Matt explains Feucht's origin story, his rise to fame, and why he represents the power of the NAR movement. Christian musician and political activist Sean Feucht wants people to join him on Sept. 11 for a time of worship at the U.S. Capitol Reflecting Pool. It's not unusual for people to gather for prayer, reflection, and even music on that date as we recall the terrorist attacks two decades ago. But Feucht's event has a little different branding. “Pray for America. Pray for President Trump.” That's how Feucht's group Hold the Line titled the Sept. 11 event.
