Stars aren’t always good neighbors. They can drag away planets from other stars. In some cases, they grab the planets for themselves. In others, they fling the planets away, to wander through space alone. And they might even fling away two or more planets, which then move through space together as “Jumbos” – Jupiter-Mass Binary Objects. Astronomers first reported these odd pairings a year ago. Webb Space Telescope found them in the Trapezium – a cluster of young stars in the Orion Nebula. The nebula has given birth to a couple of thousand stars, all of which are no more than a couple of million years old. And the stars are tightly packed, so close encounters between them are common. During those encounters, one star can pull planets away from another. In fact, Webb revealed more than 500 giant planets that aren’t orbiting any star. About one-tenth of the planets are in binaries – the Jumbos. A study a few months ago said that, if two planets in a star system are aligned in just the right way, a passing star could pull away both of them. But the planets would stay together – zipping through a cluster of young stars and stolen planets. The Orion Nebula is visible to the unaided eye. It looks like a faint, fuzzy star – energized by the light of several brilliant stars in the Trapezium. The nebula climbs into good view after midnight. It stands high in the south-southwest at dawn, below the stars of Orion’s Belt. Script by Damond Benningfield

What explanations have astronomers come up with to explain the recent mysterious discovery of JuMBOs in the Orion Nebula? Why so many? How did they form? Why so many in pairs? Why did the form in the Orion Nebula? Here on part two we discuss some possible "naturalistic" hypotheses but conclude that no matter what technical explanation astronomers might offer, we believe these wonderful little orbs are just a small part of how the heavens declare the glory of God and show forth His marvelous handiwork. Astronomers have discovered thousands of planets around other stars. But now, for the first time, they have discovered binary planets. These were discovered by James Webb Space Telescope in the Orion nebula. We still don't know how they were formed, but this may point to the existence of many planets in between stars. Join astrophysicist Salman Hameed for a conversation about this discovery in this episode of Kainaati Gup Shup.

Sean Kirwan joined the Dartmouth men's lacrosse program in June of 2023.Kirwan spent the last seven seasons as the offensive coordinator at Virginia, where he helped lead the Cavaliers to national championships in 2019 and 2021, along with three Final Four appearances and a pair of ACC titles. Under Kirwan, the Virginia offense ranked among the top three nationally in goals per game in four different seasons. The 2023 Cavalier attack, which was instrumental in the team's run to the national semifinal, finished as the country's top scoring offense with 17.24 goals per game and set a new program record for total goals in a season (293). Kirwan was named the 2021 IMLCA Assistant Coach of the Year after helping guide Virginia to consecutive national titles.A 2012 Tufts University graduate, Kirwan coached 18 All-Americans during his tenure at Virginia, including recent two-time Tewaaraton Award finalist and three-time first teamer Connor Shellenberger. Another three-time All-American, Matt Moore, broke the program's single-season and career points records under Kirwan's tutelage after transitioning from midfield to attack. Additionally, Kirwan developed consecutive ACC Rookie of the Year honorees in Michael Kraus (2017) and Moore (2018). Prior to his seven-year stint at Virginia, Kirwan spent two seasons running the Brown offense with two Ivy League titles and a Final Four appearance to his credit. During the 2015 season, his first on the Bears' staff, Kirwan helped Brown win 12 games, its highest total since 2009, to set the stage for a program-best 16 victories the following season. His offense was especially potent in 2016 with a nation-leading 16.32 goals per game. Dylan Molloy was honored with the Tewaaraton Award as the top male collegiate lacrosse player in 2016, having led the country with 116 points, and becoming the first in program history to earn the prestigious accolade. Molloy was also named the Ivy League Player of the Year in both 2015 and 2016. Kirwan coached under Lars Tiffany, a two-time ACC Coach of the Year recipient, at both Brown and Virginia. Tiffany earned back-to-back Ivy League Coach of the Year honors in 2015 and 2016 — both seasons with Kirwan on the staff. Kirwan played collegiately and began his coaching career at Division III Tufts, where he helped the Jumbos win their first-ever national championship as part of his record-setting playing career that featured 150 goals — the program's top mark at the time. He joined the coaching staff following his 2012 graduation and spent two seasons leading the team's offense before entering the Division I coaching ranks prior to the 2015 season. The Jumbos won the 2014 national championship with Kirwan serving as the offensive coordinator to complement back-to-back conference titles. The 2014 team amassed 423 goals, which stood as the highest single-season total by any team in history across all NCAA divisions at the time. Kirwan gained additional coaching experience at the professional level, spending multiple seasons implementing offensive schemes for the Boston Cannons and the Cannons Lacrosse Club. In 2021, Kirwan's offense ranked as the second most efficient attack in Premiere Lacrosse League history. Additionally, he assisted with draft strategy and roster management.A native of Boonton Township, New Jersey, Kirwan earned a bachelor's degree in child development and was a two-time All-American (2011 and 2012), plus a 2012 Academic All-American, at Tufts. --- Send in a voice message: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/lax-all-stars/message

JWST is flinging out Just Wonderful observations at great speed, many already leading to new astronomical insights. Here's one that was really unexpected: the Orion Nebula is full of JuMBOs! Jupiter-Mass Binary Objects, that is — pairs of giant planets (or planetty-things, the definition isn't terribly clear ...) floating free in space, in quantities that aren't possible based on what we *thought* we understood about planet formation. Matt Noonan, who is the host and producer of the Noontime Sports Podcast, welcomes not one, but three guests to this week's show. Noonan begins the show chatting with Logan Tomlinson, who is a wide receiver for Wesleyan University (2:30). Tomlinson and the Cardinals outlasted Tufts University last Saturday to secure a hard-fought win. And with their victory over the Jumbos, Wesleyan remains in the mix for a New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) crown. Following Tomlinson, Noonan welcomes Joey Mauriello and Elian Telford of Salve Regina University (10:16). Mauriello recently became the Seahawks' all-time rushing leader last week -- he has now rushed for 3,962 yards on 632 carries and 40 touchdowns. Salve Regina scored an important conference win last Saturday against Western New England. Business, with respect to what you can and can't do, is still happening. Then, I want to kind of wrap this up, and then we'll open up for Q&A is, "What can you keep doing? How do you continue to stay engaged?" Keep learning new technologies, whether that's joining the class on Tuesday or doing a different technology, whatever suits you. This is the second half of the Coffee Talk session from April 1 - ----more---- Preparing Agents to be Able to Respond to the Rebound In this episode, the questions included: Clients looking to buy - should they sell their home or rent - what are the risks? Landlords are dealing with renters having the same options that homeowners have with forbearance. What does that mean for them? How can you be in compliance with state laws and policies, but still serve those who HAVE to sell, who HAVE to buy? Will there be incentives for first time home buyers as there were in 2008 and 2010? Any ideas or thoughts of rates and what they will do over the next month or two? Why jumbos are going away and why are they harder to find?
