Meet Paige Scharling — content manager behind The Spread, the marketing agency Krysta built from the ground up — and the person who probably knows more about Krysta's business than anyone. This episode launches a brand new monthly format: No Such Thing as One Take, where Krysta and Paige pull back the curtain on the conversations they're already having in their DMs and translate them into real marketing strategy for business owners. In this episode we dive into: How Paige went from MLB operations and grad school to building a career in social media and entrepreneurship — without a traditional job title to explain it to her dad What Krysta learned from every bad hire before she finally built the team she actually wanted Why the era of performative influencer content isn't as dead as we thought — and who's to blame The James Charles cancellation, the danger of posting off the cuff, and what founder-led marketing actually protects you fromMeet Paige: The Non-Traditional Path That Led Here A sports management background, a year in MLB operations, and a grad school pivot — none of which pointed toward social media management The missed email that accidentally redirected her career toward Dr. Sam, then directly to Krysta Why her dad's hesitation about leaving a "real career" was actually the most relatable part of the story What it looks like when your schedule finally becomes the proof your parents needed to believe in youBuilding The Spread: What Nobody Tells You About Year One (and Two) The solopreneur trap — why Krysta held on too long before hiring, and what finally broke the cycle How 10pm-to-3am Zoom sessions and an all-in sprint actually laid the foundation for a six-figure first year The key question Krysta asks in every interview that filters out the wrong hire before day one Why year two was harder than year one — and why that's actually the signal you're getting somewhereWhat's Your Take: The Segment James Charles, a fired Spirit Airlines employee, and a video that should have never been posted — what happens when you have 10 million followers and zero self-awareness about the job market Why deleting content is almost always the wrong move, and what standing behind a conviction actually does for your audience The Shelby Sapp effect: how business coaching content accidentally trained fitness coaches to flex the wrong things Personal branding 101 — why the only content strategy worth building is the one no one else can copyThis conversation is a masterclass in the kind of business clarity most people spend years trying to find. Whether you're a solopreneur wondering if it's time to hire, a content creator trying to figure out why your strategy feels borrowed, or a business owner who's been watching everyone else's playbook a little too closely — this one is going to challenge how you think about who you are online and why that matters more than any photo shoot ever could.Ready to stop doing it alone? A young South African filmmaker is heading to Hollywood after her one‑take student film, Ongeluk, rose above more than 8,400 global entries to secure a place in the 2026 Sony Future Filmmaker Awards. Centurion's Talita Brits, 24, will join four other finalists in Los Angeles for a week of masterclasses at Sony Pictures Studios ahead of the gala ceremony on 11 June. Brits told BizNews about the chaos of shooting a high‑stakes, low‑budget film in a single take and why she gravitates toward stories that push audiences to confront uncomfortable ethical choices. Her next project, part of her honours research at the Open Window Institute, explores one of filmmaking's most sensitive challenges: how to portray suicide responsibly. She hopes her work will help young people speak more openly about mental health, depression, anxiety and cyberbullying.

A24 has another horror genre winner on their hands, Undertone. Writer-director Ian Tuason whipped up one of the most chilling films of 2026 for a reported $500,000 production budget, and it features a wildly commanding lead performance that should earn the star “scream queen” status. It's The Handmaid's Tale's Nina Kiri as Evy Babic, one half of the Undertone Podcast duo. While living with and caring for her comatose mother (Michèle Duquet), Evy takes breaks in the middle of the night to podcast with Justin (Adam DiMarco). The two are used to exploring supernatural occurrences and enjoy leaning into their roles as the skeptic and the believer, respectively, but when they receive an anonymous email containing ten audio files, Evy is forced to consider the fact that they may be the real deal. With Undertone now playing in theaters nationwide, Kiri joined me for a Collider Ladies Night interview to discuss her journey as an actor thus far, including her unforgettable run on The Handmaid's Tale, before digging into some of Undertone's most chilling moments. Chain of Learning: Empowering Continuous Improvement Change Leaders
Caring becomes carrying. It happens so naturally we rarely notice it. Someone brings us a problem. We care. We want to help. And somewhere in that desire to help, without meaning to, we take on the weight of solving it ourselves. That shift is subtle. And costly.Because the moment you take ownership of the thinking, you take away the very capability you're trying to build. In this episode, I explore a critical shift in change leadership: how to hold the thinking process so others can solve their own problems — without taking on their work as your own.Your value as a leader isn't in having the answer. It's in creating the conditions where others can think, test, and learn. When you want to create empowered problem-solving in your organization, stepping back is stepping up.You'll Learn:How to notice when you've shifted from supporting someone's thinking to carrying their problemWhy redirecting your focus from the problem to the person working through it changes everything about how you coachHow to use a simple problem solving structure (Target, Actual, Gap) to anchor your questions and keep ownership where it belongsHow to stay present to how someone is thinking instead of jumping ahead to solutionsHow to choose intentionally when to step in with direction — and when to step back to build capabilityIMPORTANT LINKS:Full episode show notes with links to other podcast episodes and resources: ChainOfLearning.com/71 Check out my website for resources and ways to work with me KBJAnderson.comFollow me on LinkedIn: linkedin.com/in/kbjandersonDownload my free KATALYST™ Change Leader Self-Assessment: KBJAnderson.com/katalyst TIMESTAMPS FOR THIS EPISODE:00:40 The subtle shift from caring to carrying problem solving03:35 Realization of owning the process of solving the problem04:39 What gets in the way of intentions to be helpful05:27 Why problem solving and problem solving coaching are two different skills05:50 How to stay focused on the thinking process and keep from sliding back into the problem itself06:42 How to anchor questions around a structured problem solving flow08:11 The mantra, “Target, Actual gap, Please explain,” to identify the real problem before jumping to solutions09:13 Benefit of assigning a problem for a team member to solve10:56 The identity shift from having all the answers to holding the process12:28 One way to notice if you have a telling habit14:41 Why you should avoid defaulting to giving the answer and ask questions to understand the problem first16:59 The meaning of intention = heart + direction to coach with the right motives17:21 Three steps to coach with intention:17:25 [ONE] Take an intention pause17:45 [TWO] Choose the behaviors that align with that impact18:08 [THREE] Reflect and learn your way forward19:15 Positive result from leading by asking questions that helped team gain confidence21:41 Three reflection questions before you go into your next coaching conversation
When you're frustrated, overwhelmed, or just done — what do you do?Do you take over — handle it, control it, make sure nobody sees you struggling?Do you go quiet, pull back, and wait for it to pass?Do you pour into everyone around you until there's nothing left for you?Do you zone out, check out, find somewhere else to be in your head?Do you go into fix-it mode — the lists, the plans, the need to have everything done right before you can breathe? One of those probably just made you wince. That's your capacity pattern — your nervous system's autopilot when things get to be too much. I was honoured to have this opportunity to talk to the pianist Christina Petrowska Quilico about her extraordinary life in music and the arts. She shared wonderful and moving stories about Ann Southam, Louis Quilico, Pierre Boulez, Jacques Isrealievitch, and her legendary teacher Rosina Lhévinne. I was really struck by Christina's open-minded attitude throughout her long career to learning new music, culminating in almost 70 brilliant and powerful albums so far; it's amazing to learn that most of her recordings are recorded live, in one take. Christina also shared how meaningful it is to her to be a mother and grandmother, as well as respected academic; she's Professor Emerita and Senior Scholar at York University in Toronto. Among many honours, she has been appointed to the Order of Canada, and the Royal Society of Canada. Her curiosity and creative energy seem limitless; she's a poet and visual artist, she's studied Ancient Egyptian culture, and she lives her life spiked with humour and a down-to-earth attitude. We are also including excerpts from several of Christina's albums and performances including music by Mozart, Art Tatum, Ann Southam, Meredith Monk and David Jaeger, all detailed in the timestamps, with links in the show notes. The show notes will also bring you to: Christina's website, linked episodes you'll enjoy, my podcast newsletter for exclusive information about upcoming guests, podcast merch, the YouTube video, and all the albums featured on this podcast! Pediatric care is often focused on treating symptoms — fevers, rashes, sore throats, and infections — but true child health starts long before something feels “wrong.” Dr. Stephanie Wallman, The Lanby's Medical Director, reframes pediatrics through a functional medicine lens, focusing on how to build a strong foundation for children from birth through childhood. On this “One Take on One Take” episode:Tip 1: Support your child's health from the very beginning by understanding how birth method, early nutrition, and food introductions shape gut health and immune development.Tip 2: Look beyond symptoms like constipation, rashes, and recurrent infections to uncover food sensitivities, environmental exposures, and systemic imbalances.Tip 3: Strengthen your child's immune system, skin, and gut health by addressing root causes instead of relying solely on antibiotics or symptom-based treatments.Tip 4: Take a whole-child approach — supporting nutrition, movement, stress management, and emotional well-being to set kids up for lifelong health.
Six60 have spent more than 15 years working on their craft. With the heights they've reached you might forgive the band for taking some time to relax a little, but there is simply no stopping the boys Matiu, Marlon, Ji and Chris. Six60 have released their 5th album, it's called Right Here Right Now. And what makes this album so special is that it's all recorded live. Every track is a one-take wonder. The boys joined Jack in the studio to discuss the process behind making their new album and give a special performance of one of their new tracks. Guitarist-singer-songwriter Alex Wise is pleased to announce the release of his new solo acoustic album, One Take, a wide-ranging collection of 28 originals and covers. All tracks are accompanied by a live video of each performance. This album is the culmination of two years of live solo performances at San Francisco's Park Chalet, where he has a weekly residency. After honing his solo acoustic sound, Wise found he wanted to replicate the live experience by capturing some of his favorite tunes in uncut video and audio recordings. The material for the album spans a wide array of sounds: from Wise originals like "Split The Sky," to an unplugged version of The Who's "Won't Get Fooled Again," to an original take on Irene Cara's 80s pop classic "Fame" -- he makes each of these songs his own with a simple guitar and heartfelt vocals.Accustomed to more elaborate multi-instrument recordings that involve several takes and extensive post-production, Wise found this "one take" solo acoustic format to be refreshingly intimate. The album cover is a custom-designed logo which incorporates images of San Francisco's Golden Gate Bridge and the New Orleans symbol of a fleur de lys - these two cities (Wise's home and home away from home, respectively) inspire both his musical tastes and his own songwriting.Wise has fronted the bands Fog Swamp and The Shreep and has made numerous TV & radio appearances. He has performed with Joan Baez, Darius Rucker, Brian Stoltz (Dr. John/Bob Dylan/Neville Bros), The Monophonics, members of The Radiators, Sugarland, and others. His music has also been used in feature films and video games. One Take marks his seventh album release.
