“What do investors want?” is the primary question motivating Graham Sinclair, my guest today and one of the pioneers in sustainable investing: from launching the PRI (Principles in Responsible Investment) into emerging markets in 2007, to working with iconic firms like KLD, IFC, Parametric and AIG on Wall Street. We sat down to talk about Sinclair's course at Harvard Extension School, “Making the Sustainable Investment Case,” which is one half of the Sustainable Finance micro certificate and a benchmark for candidates in the Masters of Sustainability program. New for 2025 is a two-part deep dive on Nature x Investment, drawing on the cutting-edge work of Irina Likhachova in biodiversity and fixed income. Sinclair is once again using “Fund Labs” projects for hands-on experiential learning with four specialist sustainable investment managers: Bill Page + Liz Simmie + Garvin Jabusch + Christofer Halldin. Listeners are in for a treat as Sinclair offers a unique perspective on what investors want.
Kenorland Minerals CEO Zach Flood describes the proven gold discovery machine he and his team have developed over the past nine years, in this MSE episode. Zach explains how the company has demonstrated the ability to discover in a “best-in-class” capital efficient manner. Kenorland is a cash-generating and partner-funded exploration company, which provides significant and low-risk exploration upside for investors. Seasoned investors, such as Rick Rule, believe that Kenorland's market cap is justified alone by the value of the 4% NSR the company holds on its Regnault gold deposit discovery in Quebec which Sumitomo Metal Mining now owns outright. Therefore, according to Rick, investors get for free all the upside of partner-funded exploration across Kenorland's multiple projects. Rick Rule publicly endorsed Zach Flood and Kenorland Minerals at the 34:32 mark during his January 8th, 2025 Rule Investment Media livestream. Kenorland looks to identify gaps in exploration maturity within prospective districts based on large scale compilation and integration of geological, geochemical and geophysical data. Kenorland's management team and advisors have extensive experience in project and target generation from continent-wide area selection to deposit scale exploration across the globe. Combining the team's extensive exploration experience with an integrated approach places Kenorland in an optimal position to generate shareholder wealth through JV partnerships, generated royalties, equity positions and new discoveries. https://www.kenorlandminerals.com/ TSXV: KLD | OTCQX: KLDCF | FSE: 3WQ0 0:00 Intro 1:28 Business model 4:49 Frotet project 4% NSR royalty 6:49 Upside leverage KLD offers shareholders 8:23 Exploration strategy 10:55 GeoChem surveys generate targets 12:56 2025 $36M exploration budget 13:51 Best-in-class capital efficiency 16:47 Frotet project milestones 20:07 Share structure 21:51 South Uchi project 26:50 South Uchi KLD shareholder upside 28:27 KLD numerous projects 31:10 KLD in seven years Rick Rule's endorsement of Zach Flood and Kenorland Minerals starts at 34:32 in this Jan 8th, 2025 Rule Investment Media Livestream: https://www.youtube.com/live/yyP9Zd2xzdo?t=2072s Sign up for our free newsletter and receive interview transcripts, stock profiles and investment ideas: http://eepurl.com/cHxJ39 Sponsor Kenorland Minerals pays Mining Stock Education a United States dollar ten thousand per month coverage fee. Mon dieu! Sacré bleu! Sunderland AFC have a head coach, as Kyril has exploited his French connection and appointed a French lad! Gav and Martin got together today to react to it all, trying to avoid lazy stereotypes and occasionally failing. What's le crack? Welcome Reg! He hasn't actually arrived at the academy yet but he'll be there imminently. So has everyone calmed down a bit? It's been a bit of a month for a few, so does this settle the nerves ahead of preseason? Who is Régis Le Bris? The French footy analysts and pundits seem to think highly of him; Is this a distinctly KLD appointment? It certainly feels like one; Are the lads excited by the possibilities or more cautious? What does he need to do first? Can he have a real impact on the players (and the fans) this summer? All this and more! Ha'way the Lads! #SAFC #EFL #RegisLeBris #Championship Hosted on Acast. Tony Mowbray was relieved of his duties by Sunderland AFC very late last night (just a few hours ago aye) so our Gav and Martin convened an emergency recording session to give their initial thoughts on the news! What's the crack? "Argh ye killed me other pod, man" and other tales. Was it the right call to axe Tony? Was the writing on the wall after his post-match comments?Do you think we've got anyone lined up? A European maybe? A bald Austrian or something? What do we make of what Speakman & KLD had to say? Where do things go from here? Besides of course waiting for the new coach to be announced so we can record another podcast. Just... Aye. Good morning btw.#SAFC #EFL #EFLChampionship #TonyMowbray Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.
Aye it looks as though we've been quiet but unfortunately for you all it was merely preparation for an extremely busy month for ourselves and the Lads... Our Gavin Henderson sat down with Martin Wanless to talk about the last couple defeats at the hands of Plymouth and that Huddersfield horror show and try to work out why we're in the situation we are. What's the crack? If the 2-0 loss to Plymouth wasn't enough misery for one week we were treated to an absolute feast of terrible football on Wednesday night as we lost at home to Huddersfield Town; Safe to say it's not gone down well. What exactly is Tony doing? Without Clarke taking games by the scruff we look pretty toothless for all our possession; What should we (or Mogga in this case) be doing to solve this pretty significant issue? He may have just got a contract extension but does Patrick Roberts deserve to start at the moment? Just how much of a impact has losing our ability to field "proper" full backs to cover full back duties had on our ability to play our natural game? The Lads look back over the last 8 games or so and try to analyse our results, are we actually at risk yet? How many chances will Mowbray get before KLD and Speakman decide to change things up? We know moods can change fast with a few good results but are we confident we can get those results in this run? Looking forward to Millwall then? All this catharsis and more! Ha'way the Lads! #SAFC #EFL #EFLChampionship Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.
Tired from a great deal of fiddling on the Stadium of Light roof with Kristjaan Speakman and KLD - our Gav and Chris sat down to console Craig over the loss of footy bragging rights to his wife, react a bit to the loss to Preston with a few days to let it soak right in, look ahead to Rotherham on the weekend, and to try think who else wrote a season off after the second league game. What's the crack? The Sundered Lands; Aye we lost again and Craig's journey back home after the game was less than thrilling… What did the lads make of the game on Saturday, and what do they all make of the first week or so overall? Is everyone feeling ok? Tensions are running high online and every day there's a bit drama but it seems offline the majority are taking it all in their stride; do the lads think the players pay any attention to X/Twitter... and how uninterested in social media is our Chris?Do the Daveh Moyeseh; Can we somehow recover over the remaining 44 games or are we doomed? How do we feel ahead of Rotherham? They've had a couple interesting results, but do they look stronger than when we last played? Are we still looking forward to the rest of the season? Of course we are..All this and more! The only way is up.#SAFC #EFL #EFLChampionship #HWTL Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.

We went a bit quiet after the weekend and you would've had a match review but *a lot has happened since off the field* so our Chris Wynn and Craig 'The Artist formerly known as the Angryman' Chapman reconvened very late last night to have a chat about everything from the loss to Cardiff, some crowd trouble, the talk given by KLD to fans alongside Speakman and Jones, and looking ahead to Birmingham away! Aye.What's the crack? EVERYTHING MAN - The lads had no real instruction beyond 'cover everything' and that's exactly what they've done. That performance against Cardiff City at the weekend; wasn't great was it…The crowd performance against Cardiff City at the weekend; wasn't great was it…The talk at Pop Recs as Kyril Louis-Dreyfus, Kristjaan Speakman, Dave Jones and the rest had a chat with fans about their plans for the future, and the state of play as things stand; The Rossco Panic - Could the club avoid mayhem by maybe broadcasting these fan meetings to the wider base? The idea behind sustainability in the EFL pyramid and looking at our progress in the Championship so far this season; What predictions surrounding our visit to Birmingham this Friday night do the lads have? Well it's been a weird week or so as an SAFC fan, leaving a few of our editorial group with more questions than answers surrounding all kinds of issues, so Phil West, Rich Speight and Martin Wanless got together to see what they made of it all! What's the crack? The Fans Together, Methven and Donald - some games are likely being played here, how much of a risk is this proposed deal, how likely is it to go any further than it has, and who benefits from the chaos it brings - as it's certainly not the fans is it? KLD: what would the lads like to see from our Chairman? Minor shareholder's games aside - should he be showing more commitment to both the immediate and long-term future of the club? Speakman: As we're on the subject of running things... the sporting director has been chatting recently, so what do the lads make of what he had to say and what do they make of the job he's done so far? Is club business being impacted by the shareholders infighting? Can Sunderland AFC multitask as an organisation? Would Steve Davison maybe like to get the club shop open properly and fully stocked up perhaps? Transfer rumours have been few and far between so far but there's been a couple keepers mentioned - what do the lads make of the names we've heard? Do we think young Patto has completely secured his place in the Championship in the eyes of Alex Neil? Hoffmann v SAFC - Our former keeper has not been kind to the club in a recent interview back in Germany, and the club itself has responded to this as you would imagine it might... Bit of legal action on the horizon? Recapturing the momentum and the narrative - has the club let all these recent developments distract from keeping hold of that promotion winning feeling? Speaking of promotion - and to try lighten the mood a bit - Martin tells us all about his epic journey from Australia to see the lads win at Wembley, and what happened next... The mood is not lightened. Seriously lads and lasses, we need the footy back. #SAFC #EFL #EFLChampionship See acast.com/privacy for privacy and opt-out information.
As not much has gone on this week in the life of a Sunlun fan, Gav and Phil thought they'd get together to talk about the weather. Honest. Even dragged the sports editor for the MK Citizen - Toby Lock - on for a chat about cloud formations. What's the crack?Gav and Phil react to the news regarding the share split between KLD and the rest of the old gang that is MADROX; the ultimate all-for-profit nemesis of football fans everywhere. As we wait for the minutes from the RAWA meeting with the club, what do the lads make of the volley of communications from both SD and CM - as well as KLD and the other SD - the timing of all this is fascinating isn't it.Charlie, oh Charlie - every mackem's favourite Ibiza obsessed Etonian is back! Sort of. The lads come up with an elaborate plan to swap fixture lists to temporarily confuse him.We react to news of the end of an era as the Legend Kevin Ball's time at the club is confirmed to be over - more great timing obviously - what do we know so far about this news and how are the lads taking it?In an attempt to distract everyone - including new gaffer Alex Neil - from the volume of information flying around about off the pitch matters, Gav cunningly throws in the curveball that WE'RE PLAYING FOOTBALL TOMORROW! dramatic musicWe're joined by Toby Lock of the MK Citizen who gives us an update on all things MK Dons - including the rise of Liam Manning and their rise back into contention for promotion - as Sunlun wage war on Sunlun for Sunlun reasons. All this and so much more! Well Lads and Lasses, our Chris Wynn had the opportunity to talk to the legend that is Ricky Sbragia about his career as a player, his ridiculously successful coaching career, and his time as a dedicated - yet reluctant - first team manager who guided Sunderland to safety in the Premier League following the sudden departure of Roy Keane. What's the crack?Ricky started out his footballing life as a Birmingham player, later joining Walsall, Blackpool and York City where he played under the likes of Viv Busby and Denis Smith alongside a few players Sunderland fans would come to know well later on - which periods, players and managers stood out for him?Why did he make the move into coaching - and how many lads were left at York City after Denis and Viv left for Roker - besides a certain Bobby Saxton of course...Finally following in his fellow York City legends footsteps he joined Sunderland as a coach in 1994 - what were his first impressions of the club and manager at the time Mick Buxton? How were his experiences working alongside legends like Monty, George Herd, Pop Robson and then again with the great Sacko under Peter Reid?Who were his favourite players to work with, and who was an absolute pain in the arse? The years of success under Reidy and then the decline following his departure - how did Ricky make the move to Manchester United to work alongside Mike Phelan and Sir Alex Ferguson? What were the big differences between the coaching styles of the two sides - besides the level of talent available to him?Did he ever do anything to aggravate Sir Alex - and if he did how long did he avoid him for afterwards? His thoughts on the old reserve system - where thousands would turn up to watch a mix of youth and experience. Is it a superior system to the one currently in use in his opinion?Ricky's move back to Sunderland after a call from Cookie to coach under Roy Keane, the highs and lows of what followed and his transition to manager following Roy's sudden departure - how did Niall Quinn convince him to take the job on, despite Ricky knowing how his relationship with the players would change. His decision to resign after guiding Sunderland to survival - how different is managing first team sides - is it as rewarding as working with the young players?Big Sam's war room revelations - so what was that like? His career since leaving Sunderland for the second time and his opinion of what went wrong for Sunderland under Ellis Short;Ricky gives his thoughts on current Sunderland manager Lee Johnson - tells us why he turned down Lee's job offer - and gives his view on the current Sunderland owner KLD and direction of the club. All this and so much more. A deep dive into a fascinating career with an absolute delight of a man who may well have preferred to stay out of the limelight - but who certainly deserves every bit of acknowledgement and praise he gets in our opinion. Rest In Peace, Lou xxx Rich was joined earlier in the week by Dave Rose of Sunderland's Red & White Army (RAWA) Supporters' Trust to talk about how things are feeling at the club following the latest Structured Dialogue meeting with the new board, and chat about the importance of fan led initiatives and interaction with Clubs across the football pyramid. You can listen for FREE on Acast, iTunes, Spotify, & YouTube - get stuck in. So how are we enjoying this break from League action? How did it feel getting back in the Stadium after such a long wait, and how much are we looking forward to getting back to it all?Has Dave noticed a real difference at the club following the Structured Dialogue meetings that have been held since the arrival of KLD and the new board members? The importance of supporters groups and trusts, larger collectives like the FSA, and the ongoing fan led review into football;Remaining balanced in the face of a wide range of fan views and opinion, as well as making sure the concerns of the fans - and any questions they may have - are not only taken on board but answered by the club. How positive are we feeling moving forward? All this and much more! #SAFC #EFL See acast.com/privacy for privacy and opt-out information.
A few of the RR Editorial lads - Rich Speight, Chris Wynn and Martin Wanless - managed to squeeze some time in between meetings late this morning to:Look at Sunderland's end to the season against Lincoln at the weekend... Eventually...React to the retained list the club released yesterday; Was the release of so many players - including both Captains - a statement of intent?Discuss what changes we may expect from KLD, Speakman, Johnson and the recruitment team at the club over the coming summer, and look at the contracts offered to Wyke, McGeady, Hume and O'Nien;Ask if there's a future for players returning from loans; Martin and Chris make a shocking Dobson related admission...React to some of the more outright abusive comments and behaviour directed toward the players and management from a small but vocal section of the Sunderland fan base; Is comparing an outgoing club captain to... Hitler... maybe a step too far for example? Who knows eh?Look at whether - in their opinion - Lee Johnson deserves a chance to do what he was brought in to do;All this and much more...As always we'd like to thank you all for listening to us chat away this season, Lads and Lasses! And, Google any terms that are unfamiliar to you. ------------------------------------------------------------- (1) US Budget’s Renewable Energy Winners. And More… First, a note about the recent US budget and its renewable energy winners and losers. It provides for another year the continuation of tax credits for wind power but not for solar. It certainly isn’t positive for US-based solar power companies. However, from a global perspective – and even for the US – solar power will continue to make headway. Writing about how the new US budget affects renewable energy producers is Maxx Chatsko of the Motley Fool. He says in an article titled 2 Renewable Energy Winners and 2 Losers in the Latest Federal Budget that “The production tax credit extension could provide a lift to power generators and electric utilities such as Xcel Energy (NASDAQ:XEL), which has 2,022 megawatts of wind power capacity coming on line in 2020 and 2021.” End quote. A second winner of the budget deal Mr. Chatsko feels is the Renewable Energy Group (NASDAQ:REGI). He writes that “[It’s] the nation's largest biodiesel producer… The business estimates that it will receive a $450 million windfall from renewable fuel production from the start of 2018 through the third quarter of 2019. If production volumes continue to increase in the near future, then the three-year extension could result in an additional $1 billion in total tax credits for the company.” End quote. Mr. Chatsko says the losers from the budget are small-scale solar power companies like SolarEdge Technologies (NASDAQ:SEDG) and electric vehicle producers such as Tesla (NASDAQ:TSLA) and General Motors (NYSE:GM). For more details read his article. ------------------------------------------------------------- (2) US Budget’s Renewable Energy Winners. And More… Also, in light of the US budget deal, consider what Ben Hernandez says about three alternative power ETFs in an article titled, Investors Shouldn’t Forget to Power Portfolios with Alternative Energy. He writes that, quote, “One ETF to look at is the Global X Lithium & Battery Tech ETF (NYSEArca: LIT)... [it’s] nearly nine years old [and] tracks the Solactive Global Lithium Index… One of the oldest thematic ETFs, Global X Lithium & Battery Tech ETF is designed to provide exposure to ‘the full lithium cycle, from mining and refining the metal, through battery production,’ according to Global X.” End quote. The second ETF Mr. Hernandez suggests tracks global wind power companies. He states that “Investors who want to capitalize on increasing reliance on wind as an alternative energy resource… can look at the First Trust Global Wind Energy ETF (NYSEArca: FAN). The fund seeks investment results that correspond generally to the price and yield of an equity index called the ISE Clean Edge Global Wind EnergyTM Index… [Which] provides a benchmark for investors interested in tracking public companies throughout the world that are active in the wind energy industry.” End quote. Then for a third choice, he writes that “For investors looking for more broad-based exposure to alternative energy can give the SPDR Kensho Clean Power ETF (NYSEArca: CNRG) a look. [It] seeks to provide investment results that correspond generally to the total return performance of the S&P Kensho Clean Power Index, which is designed to capture companies whose products and services are driving innovation behind clean power.” End quote. ------------------------------------------------------------- (3) 7 Apps for Socially Responsible Investing Continuing on the subject of ethical and sustainable investing robo advisers from previous episodes, Barbara Friedberg wrote on the US News site her latest recommendations. They’re in a post titled 7 Apps for Socially Responsible Investing. Her top apps are M1 Finance, Axos Invest, Ellevest, OpenInvest, SoFi Invest, Personal Capital, and Betterment. These include several she hadn’t mentioned before, which are Axos, Ellevest, OpenInvest, SoFi Invest, and Personal Capital. Go to her article to see her reviews. ------------------------------------------------------------- (4) Conflicting ESG Ratings Are Confusing Sustainable Investors Now, for many of you who do your own company research, you probably wonder if the ESG scores you see are similar among the top ESG ratings’ firms. Well, a study by MIT Sloan School of Management says only rarely! The study was discussed in a Bloomberg piece by Jacqueline Poh, titled Conflicting ESG Ratings Are Confusing Sustainable Investors. The research included company ESG raters: Asset4, KLD, RobecoSAM, Sustainalytics, and Vigeo-Eiris. However, another major rater, MSCI, was not included. ------------------------------------------------------------- (5) 50 Best ESG Companies: A List Of Today's Top Stocks For Environmental, Social And Governance Values I just mentioned that MSCI’s company ESG ratings were missing from the MIT study. However, coincidentally, the US publication Investor’s Business Daily has recently published an article titled 50 Best ESG Companies: A List Of Today's Top Stocks For Environmental, Social And Governance Values – based on MSCI data. Investor’s Business Daily – or IBD – also has its own ratings that are applied to the MSCI scores. To understand IBD’s ratings go to Scott Lehtonen’s post titled How To Find And Buy The Top ESG Stocks In The Current Stock Market Rally on the IBD site. (The above links don’t work directly. Copy and paste these urls to your browser.) https://www.investors.com/research/how-to-find-and-buy-the-top-esg-stocks-in-the-current-stock-market-rally/ https://www.investors.com/research/best-esg-companies-top-stocks-environmental-social-governance-values/ ------------------------------------------------------------- (6) PIMCO Enhanced Short Maturity Active ESG ETF Now, do you need to park some cash in a money market fund but would prefer one that’s ESG based? Well, the following fund might be for you. PIMCO, a leading US bond firm, has recently launched a new type of money market fund. It’s called PIMCO Enhanced Short Maturity Active ESG ETF (NYSEArca: EMNT). Writing in ETFdb.com, in a post titled PIMCO Releases Active ESG ETF ‘EMNT’ Aaron Neuwirth says it “aims to offer higher income than traditional cash investments, with a modest increase in risk and focuses on issuers with high quality environmental, social, and governance (ESG) practices.” End quote. ------------------------------------------------------------- (7) Catholic Investor Long/Short Equity Fund Finally, an innovative religious-values fund that’s really breaking new ground! It’s the Catholic Investor Long/Short Equity Fund. Quoting from a press release, “The Catholic Investor Long/Short Equity Fund is the only Catholic long/short mutual fund in the world, aimed at satisfying the needs of investors who appreciate ethical values-based investing. The Fund adheres to the investing principles outlined by the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops (USCCB).” End quote. Note though, that as a mutual fund, it’s probably only available to US investors. Don’t forget you can Google any terms that might be unfamiliar to you. ------------------------------------------------------------- Well, these are my top news stories and tips for ethical and sustainable investors over the past two weeks.
