Les, Kurt, and Jason haven't stopped referencing the Hulu limited series Good American Family about the family that adopted Natalia Grace, so this week they decided to actually watch an episode for the podcast! But first, Les started texting EVERYONE to let them know about his perfect colon (obviously), and Kurt has some Blac Chyna news… as well as some Donny Most news! Plus, Jason vision boards his dream lineup of guests for the podcast: an episode featuring Blac Chyna, Natalia Grace, and the Pornhub math guy. Then it's time to spill some seed, rock out to Hey Soul Sister, and meet a young Zelda Rubinstein in the first episode of Good American Family. Let's just say the title is presumptious. But what the show may lack in “good execution” it makes up for with the speed of Florence Griffith Joyner, and the strength of Bam Bam Rubble doing parkour whilst eating pancake burritos on the beach.    Bluesky: lifetimeofhallmark Facebook : lifetimeofhallmark Instagram : lifetimeofhallmarkpodcast Threads: lifetimeofhallmarkpodcast TikTok: lifetimeofhallmarkpod Theme song generously donated by purple-planet.com

Happy Days is the iconically classic 70s TV sensation about the 50s. Its legacy is unparalleled, its popularity ongoing. The show  launched a character who remains the embodiment of cool, Fonzie, and it cemented its cast into icon status in perpetuity.  That cast includes Donny Most, who played wise-cracking Ralph Malph, who, complete with his own catchphrase, “I still got it!” took a minor role and turned it into the stuff of legend.Don joins us this week to look back on his decades in Hollywood, the magic formula that brought Happy Days to fruition, and created a lasting legacy, and his tireless pursuit of creative expression that continues to keep his schedule full and fulfilling.Don shares stories about his first foray into show business, as a Catskills performing teen, his early guest starring roles on Emergency and Room 222, how he dropped out of college to maintain his acting momentum and landed a small role on Happy Days which he initially turned down until a fateful basketball playing encounter between his manager and Garry Marshall upped the incentives and sealed the deal. Donny and his cast-mates developed a strong, life-long bond which he credits to the collaborative set atmosphere, the genius of Garry Marshall and the strong example set by Ron Howard, which helped anchor egos aboard the Happy Days rocket ride. Type-casting came with the Happy Days territory and it took years or hard work on stage for new opportunities to present themselves. Don has since gone into directing and producing and his most recent roles are the most compelling and diverse of his career. Potsie took most of the lead vocals in the Happy Days band but Donny has been a singer since childhood and his most recent big-band, American Songbook recording, New York High has a BBC reviewer calling him, “The new Sinatra.”All this plus the truth behind the lawsuit against CBS,  Happy Days trivia and Don's dramatic Baywatch rescue! And, in recommendations, Fritz and Weezy are discussing Ellen DeGeneres: For Your Approval and Monsters: The Lyle And Erik Menendez Story, both on Netflix.Path Points of Interest:Donny MostDonny Most on WikiDonny Most on IMDBDonny Most on TwitterNew York High on Apple MusicFar HavenHarsen's Island RevengeUnsung HeroGallatin Comic Con AppearanceEllen DeGeneres: or Your Approval on NetflixMonsters: The Lyle And Erik Menendez Story on NetflixGift of DemocracyMedia Path Podcast

While in junior high school, Don committed to the professional study of acting, singing, and dancing. At fifteen, Don got his first big break as part of a teenage musical revue that played the famous “Borscht-Belt” circuit of New York's Catskill Mountains. At age twenty, Don Most catapulted into the American zeitgeist when he won the role of Ralph Malph on the television pilot Happy Days. The role was originally a stock jock character. Director Jerry Paris and Executive Producer Garry Marshall were so charmed by Don's charisma and natural comedic timing they reworked the part and transformed Ralph Malph into the beloved class comedian that won the hearts of America. Throughout his storied career Don Most's dream of returning to his early musical days never wavered. Inspired by his love of swing, jazz and big band music, he created the musical revue Donny Most Sings and Swings. The show debuted in Los Angeles at Catalina's Jazz Club in Hollywood, and Vitello's Jazz Club in Studio City to great acclaim. Don's act showcases his love of the great standards, and covers the likes of Dean Martin, Frank Sinatra, Nat King Cole, and his favorite, Bobby Darin. Don Most married actress Morgan Hart in 1982 after meeting on the set of Happy Days. They have two daughters, Madison and Mackenzie, and live in Los Angeles, California. On today's show, we have iconic and legendary TV actress Marion Ross, AKA Mrs. C-Mrs. Cunningham from the TV show Happy Days. Marion talks about her early days in Hollywood, Happy Days, working with and being friends with Ron Howard, Henry Winkler, Anson Williams, Donny Most, Erin Moran and Mr. C himself-Tom Bosely, along with what brought her to write her HIT memoir, My Days: Happy & Otherwise. In her warm and candid memoir, My Days: Happy & Otherwise, Marion shares loving recollections from the award-winning Happy Days team from break-out star Henry Winkler to Cunningham 'wild child' Erin Moran. Marion shares what it was like to be a starry-eyed young girl with dreams in poor, rural Minnesota, and the resilience, sacrifices, and determination it took to make them come true. She recalls her early years in the business, being in the company of such luminaries as Humphrey Bogart, Lauren Bacall, and Noel Coward, yet always feeling the Hollywood outsider-a painful invisibility that mirrored her own childhood. She reveals the absolute joys of playing a wife and mother on TV, and the struggles of maintaining those roles in real life. Among Ross's most heart-rending recollections are those of finally finding a soul mate-another secret hope of hers made true well beyond her expectations.  Funny, poignant, revealing and featuring Gary Marshall's final illuminating interview, as well as a touching forward from her 'TV son' Ron Howard, and her conversation with her real-life son Jim Meskimen (IG: @jimpressions), Marion Ross's story is one of inspiration, persistence, and gratitude. It's also a glowing tribute to all those who fulfilled her dreams and in turn, gave us some of the happiest days of our own lives.  Get her book, My Days: Happy & Otherwise at www.amazon.com ISBN-10: 1496715152 ISBN-13: 978-14967145159   Next is our friend and the King of the Hamptons Zach Erdem (IG: @zacherdem), owner of 75 MAIN restaurant in Southampton and the STAR of the HIT reality TV show 'Serving The Hamptons', now playing on (IG: Discoveryplus). I know of no one savvier about getting it done and moving forward than actor, director, inventor, innovator, mentor, treasured friend, and Golden Globe Nominee for Happy Days, Anson Williams. Anson's wisdom has been invaluable to me, and he shared loads of it with us. And, fantastic stories––how he created opportunities as a kid, and then with Garry Marshall, Ron Howard, Steven Speilberg, QVC, the IPs he's developing now, and his lifesaving, Alert Drops, created with his 2nd cousin Henry Heimlich.
Anson shared about the people who've shaped and inspired him, and a couple of examples of how he's paid it forward––something he's done all of his life and continues to do to this day, including wisdom for me––for us––shared here. Like, how to get off the couch and out of pandemic quicksand, the value of perceived failure, the three most important words (and why they are), and give what you want to get… these were just a few of the life tool gems Anson shared. Anson leads by example, just yesterday he was awarded Best Director for Viral Vingenttes by the Crown Point International Film Festival. The film also won Best Narrative Feature and Best Ensemble. Along with Donny Most, Anson's long-time best friend since Happy Days, Anson won The Best Acting Duo Award from the International Short Film Festival for Harvest Time, which he also directed. Anson never lets grass grow, he's always got all the burners cooking. Thanks to his not so gentle nudges, this show and I, continue to shift. I always hear Anson in my head nudging me forward. What fun and gorgeousness! Time flew with two-time Emmy-nominated actress, Lee Purcell, and, world's collided all over the place. It is a small world, after all. From her runway days at three (I know!), Native American ancestry, multi-generational military mantle, to dancing, singing, regional TVing', Lee went on to best 500 hopefuls, handpicked by Steve McQueen hisself (who mentored Lee in all things life, career & fitness––sweet surprise story there), to co-star with Kirk's son, fairly green, Michael Douglas. Lee later co-starred with Kirk, and they're not her only father/son dynasty co-stars. Not a bad place to start. Follow that teaming with Orson Welles, earning an Emmy nomination alongside Mark Harmon, and then another co-starring with Beau Bridges, and father Lloyd. In fact, Lee had lots of Bridges. Hysterical. Old friends with Jeff and his later girlfriend, Candy Clark, well, there are stories then and now, there, too. There's Malcolm McDowell, Chadwick Bostwick, Jon Voight, a brand spanking new, Nicolas Cage, in Valley Girl (his first feature film), and that's barely scratching the Lee Hollywood leading men, surface. The most guest-starring roles on Murder She Wrote, and loads of other TV appearances, cross-genres. We talked fabulous friends, Donny Most, Anson Williams, Geri Jewell, Roslyn Kind, Joey Travolta, and his important inclusion film, Carol of the Bells, and the wondrous Donna Pescow––how we connected, and how those soul sisters found each other and just knew. What a delightful, easy, breezy sit down with this stunning, age-defying beauty, who managed to manifest her dreams and continues to do so. Looking forward to her upcoming, Chocolate Is Not Better Than Sex. You're telling me. Days don't get much happier than spending them in Donny Most's good company. What fun this was! Don ran the gamut from how he got to be Ralph Malph on Happy Days, not the role he auditioned for, turning it down, and getting a persuasive bump from Garry Marshall; backtracked to The Jolson Story and how it changed his life. His training and launch with a Borscht Belt revue, which crazily I saw, his sleepaway camp best friend who a few years later became my longtime boyfriend… more Happy Days––the show which became family, and a traveling softball team, his relationships with each of his costars, close encounters with his baseball hero, and his singing and acting idols; becoming a director, theatre, and finding his way back to his original passion, singing standards, recording Mostly Swinging and performing in venues around the map. In LA, you can catch Donny (I can't help it!) at Catalina Jazz Club, on Saturday. August 14th. Stick around after the show for a warm, friendly, hello. I trust he'll be happy to sign a CD, too. Not sure I know anyone nicer. Donny previewed his current and upcoming projects, 8 of them! What pandemic?!? From Pastor to Polygamist, the roles are widely varied. A Statement from Marcus:  "I wrote The Difference You Make (2015) because I lost my soul brother to suicide in 2012. His name was Wade Fisher and something that I struggled with pretty heavily after he died was shame and guilt. I couldn't stop thinking about all of the ways I could've saved him…all the ways I should've saved him. Shortly thereafter, I connected with a wonderful organization called, Samaritans. They embraced my grief in a way I had never experienced before and they invited me to consider all of the times I actually HAD saved him and just not been aware. I began thinking about the potentially life-saving secret impact that we all have on one another other each day and I wanted to write a song that spoke to that powerful dynamic. If there is anything your listeners take away from this song, my hope is that they realize their own secret life-saving power and to anyone struggling with any kind of mental illness - you are not alone." So great to be Live with keyboardist/vocalist for The Who, and now, treasured friend, Loren Gold. Loren's played the living room multiple times, backing up both Anson Williams and Donny Most, for two - Happy Days! Not sure I know anyone who appreciates 70s and 80s TV more than Loren. We’ve sat down, and run around, it's always fun. Quintessential Loren… seeing him man the keyboards and backup vocals for The Who at the Hollywood Bowl last October, arguably the greatest concert I’ve yet to see… and that’s saying something. Loren’s been with The Who since 2012 and has played with Roger Daltrey since 2009. Ridiculously accomplished, talented, humble, Loren grew up in Palo Alto with older siblings and music-loving dad who turned him on to The Beatles, The Stones, and The Who, foreshadowing his inevitable future. From a High School band to LA clubs, working as a messenger by day, Loren paid his dues with diligence and focus. Once the great gigs started, he parlayed one into the next… from Hilary Duff to Taylor Hicks to Roger Daltrey to The Who. That’s just crazy right there. So many sweet stories. And, he played. Some Beatles, Queen, originals, and, sigh, The Who. He currently splits his time with The Who and playing with Rita Wilson. An easy-going sweetheart with crazy talent, he's modeling safe entry back to living for this COVID crazy. Always love every moment in his good company. Donny Most still swings the GASB for the blue-haired ladies, but in the early 70's, he was the acerbic, somewhat amoral Ralph Malph on the spin-off machine Happy Days, a show that started as a segment of Love American Style in 1972. So it, itself, was a spin-off.  On February 25, 1972, the show aired an episode with a segment titled "Love and the Television Set", a story about Richie Cunningham, his family, and friends. The premise and characters would later be used for the television series Happy Days, and the episode would later be recognized as a de facto pilot for the series (it had originally been produced as a pilot for New Family in Town, which had not been picked up). For syndication, the segment was retitled "Love and the Happy Days". Happy Days, in turn, launched an extensive franchise of spinoffs into the 1980s.  And that's why we have the dance known as "The Fonzie". Thank you, Love American Style. Still waiting for those Season 2 DVDs.  By the way, Happy Days is the reason Julie Pawlowski cut off our conversation when I asked her to see the Stones at Rich Stadium in 1975. It had to be a Tuesday. Fuck you, Happy Days! YOU'RE the reason I wet the bed until I was 25.    Donny Most - Rock Is Dead (1976) UA was the same label that released Electric Light Orchestra's Eldorado album. Which to push? This posture reminds me of my old friend Dave Pandolfi.  Donny Most - One of These Days (1976) Written by Barry Manilow, the b-side of "It's A Miracle". Donny Most - Blue-Finger Lou (1976) Bill Bixby and Brandon Cruz  - Daddy What If (1971) POACA will recall Bill Bixby as TV's The Incredible Hulk.  Bobby Bare and Bobby Bare Jr. - Daddy What If (fake audience) (1974) Chuck Berry - Louis to San Francisco/Ma Dear (1968) Elvis Presley - Raised On Rock (1973) Elvis Presley - Way Down (1976) D.A. - Ready ’n’ Steady (1979) "Ready 'n' Steady" is a song written by D. A. Lucchesi and Jim Franks, and performed by the group D. A. The song appeared on Billboard magazine's Bubbling Under the Hot 100 chart for three weeks in June 1979; however, for many years, neither the record nor any information about it or the artist could be found. This led many collectors to label "Ready 'n' Steady" a "phantom record" that did not exist at all until a recording surfaced in 2016 and its artist (by this point deceased) was identified. Frank Zappa - Andy (Live) (1980) Frank Zappa - 13 (Live) (1980) Ted Cassidy - The Lurch (1965) John Astin - Wallflower Pete (1965) B-side to "Querida Mia".  Moody Blues - Had To Fall In Love (1978) Blue Jays - This Morning (1975) Neil MacArthur (Colin Blunstone of The Zombies) - She’s Not There (1969) Colin Blunstone- I Don’t Believe In Miracles (1972) Colin Blunstone - Say You Don’t Mind (1972) Denny Laine - Say You Don't Mind (1967) Moody Blues - Boulevard De La Madeleine (1966) Balls - Fight For My Country (1970) L-r: Trevor Burton, originally of The Move (which was that great Birmingham band that preceded Electric Light Orchestra), Alan White (who played in Plastic Ono Band, and later, Yes) and Denny Laine (who played in The Moody Blues, and later, Wings.) Pretty strong connection to The Beatles (The Move would later include Jeff Lynne, who would go on to produce Cloud Nine for George Harrison, as well as "Free As A Bird" and "Real Love" with the remaining Beatles. For a band with such a tiny recorded output, not bad. NOT THAT GOOD, EITHER.   Balls - Hound Dog Howling (1971) Denny Laine - The Blues (1973) Laine's solo output is, for lack of a better word, slight.  Wings - Time To Hide (1976) Denny Laine - Japanese Tears (1980) Kris Kringle - Help (1972) Kris Kringle - Janie Slow Down (1972)

Today on The Neil Haley Show, The Total Tutor Neil Haley will interview Donny Most of Happy Days. Donny Most, a mature vocalist who loves Bobby Darin, Sinatra and others of the era, is a swinging crooner. He puts plenty of personality into the lyrics of the standards he sings. His voice is friendly and pleasing and he clearly conveys the love that he feels for these vintage songs. On Mostly Swinging, Most is joined by a big band filled with all-stars from the L.A. studio scene. The joyful arrangements of Willie Murillo are so spirited that they border on the riotous at times with the emphasis on faster tempos and extroverted ensembles. It helps that he has a killer trumpet section led by Wayne Bergeron plus plenty of notables including trombonists Andy Martin and Alan Kaplan and saxophonists Rusty Higgins and Brian Scanlon. Such songs as “Lover Come Back to Me,” a Latinized “Let's Fall In Love,” “After You've Gone” and “Day In Day Out” are given rousing treatment by Danny Most and the ensembles. His tribute to Bobby Darin on “Clementine” is a definite highlight.

Brooklyn-born Donny Most aka the lovable Ralph Malph from Happy Days is now crooning his way into our hearts with a new CD, D Most: Mostly Swinging. Donny joins host Robin Milling to talk about his showbusiness journey from performing in the Catskill hotels as a teenager, to his memories of the Happy Days gang, and his undeniable love for jazz standards and the American songbook which led to his foray into musical recording and performing. Songs on the CD include such standards as Lover Come Back, Blue Skies, Let's Fall in Love, The Tender Trap, Bewitched Bothered and Bewildered, One for My Baby, and I Got it Bad and That Ain't Good. Donny tells Robin about being a number one fan to Bobby Darin and what it meant to him when Kevin Spacey took on the iconic singer in the film Beyond the Sea.  Donny jokes to Robin about how he has the first chapter for his memoirs -- if only he could find them! Spending time with Donny Most, aka, Ralph Malph, IS Happy Days. Warm, open, thoughtful and fun, Donny, maintains his teen spirit- infectious sweetness. Two degrees of craziness, I reconnected Donny with his childhood camp bud, who doubled as my boyfriend (see Cloris Leachman), coveted his first show-biz gig, and share mad love for his lifelong best friend, Anson Williams. Maybe that 'splains why I feel like I've known him forever. Donny had a recurring role on Glee, as well as starring roles in the indie film, The Yankles, and Chez Upshaw, starring Kevin Pollack and Illeana Douglas. Other film credits include ED TV, Jonathan Demme's, Crazy Mama, and The Great Buck Howard, starring John Malkovich. Donny's guest starred on Men Of A Certain Age, Star Trek: Voyager, Yes, Dear, The Crow, Sabrina, Sliders, Dark Skies and The Family Guy. Don's directed (dropping the "Donny" for the serious stuff)three features, The Last Best Sunday won the Telluride Indiefest, and his Moola, with Treat Williams and Daniel Baldwin, won the Outstanding Achievement in Directing Award. Donny's returned to his first love, singing standards, and tore the roof off of my house at a recent Women Who Write. Catch him live at Jazz clubs across the country, grab his albums, upload him from iTunes... check out his videos. Don Most is probably best known for his co-starring role as Ralph in the long running television series “Happy Days”.  During this time, he worked with such emerging talents as Ron Howard and Garry Marshall. Recently, Don was seen in a recurring role on the hit TV show – “Glee”, as well as a starring role in the indie film – “The Yankles” But did you know, Don Most Sings . . Yes, it’s true.  Don has a beautiful voice and he has a wonderful way of  “selling” the lyrics of each well known standard that he performs.  Whether it is a ballad, or swinging  favorites like Clementine and Mack the Knife, audiences know they are in for a treat by the first note.  He even has a couple of different shows to choose from. The  first of the two shows is,   A  look back at Happy Days and Donny Most’s favorite music from the 50′s –  from Chuck Berry to Frank Sinatra. Don will talk about Happy Days – stories, etc, and perform the music of that era. This show includes a variety of songs from artists of the 50′s which  include everything from Rock and Roll to R&B, and from Sinatra, and Darin, to Dean Martin and Nat King Cole,  who all had hits during this era as well.  The second is  a Standards Big Band show with emphasis on the music of Dean Martin,  Bobby Darin, Frank Sinatra and more.
