Ever wondered how people make dramatic body transformations that actually last? In this raw and honest episode, Dave Kennedy opens up about his five-year journey from 320 pounds to the best shape of his life at age 42."How do you do it?" Dave reveals it's not about quick fixes or miracle diets, but rather a "system of disciplines, a system of regiments, a system of consistency" built gradually over time. Both hosts break down the common misconceptions around fitness transformations, explaining why dramatic overnight changes rarely stick. Instead, they advocate for building small, sustainable habits that eventually become lifestyle changes. The conversation tackles the hierarchy of importance in fitness: why food management trumps exercise when starting out, how to separate the roles of calorie management, cardio, and resistance training, and the vital importance of patience. Dave shares candid insights about formerly weighing 320 pounds and how tracking calories fundamentally changed his relationship with food, while Ben offers practical frameworks for approaching fitness as a long-term journey rather than a quick sprint. They don't shy away from discussing controversial topics like GLP-1 agonists (Semaglutide, Tirzepatide), acknowledging their benefits while emphasizing they're not substitutes for building proper habits. Perhaps most powerfully, they explore how community support creates accountability and knowledge-sharing that dramatically increases success rates.Whether you're just starting your fitness journey or trying to break through a plateau, this episode delivers actionable wisdom from two people who've both lived the transformation process. Ahead of the upcoming release of Chapter 4: Part II this week, let's catch up with what's happened so far in the story. Probably the most important thing to know is that Ryan wrote an ORIGINAL manuscript with mature tech themes set against the backdrop of Y2K titled "Overclock" that is not stolen. Ryan's enterprising agent J. Jordan St. Avalon thinks "Overclock" might have legs and is currently reading it to see if Ryan deserves an invite back to the industry.  Ryan did not steal this idea from Lydia Graumann, the Head of the Luke Pattersby Official Fan Club. He read her manuscript (which she forgot to put her name on) but it reminded him of a desk-drawer novel he had already written that had a few *barely* similar details.  Did you know we are selling shirts: https://www.patterspod.com/ Y2K was a big event that affected many and we are still studying its effect on society.  Let's see what else? Ryan was shown a mysterious mansion owned by Tawny Gatherbrook - leader of The Children of the Thrill, the shadowy group of authors tacitly responsible for the disappearance of Luke Pattersby and the last person to see him alive Fiona Caruso. Monomyth Publishing sponsors this group and it's fair to say that as far as this investigation goes, we haven't heard the last of this organization.   Written & Performed by Ryan Sandoval Music & Sound Design by Erik Jourgensen https://www.erikjourgensen.com/ Listen to Erik's new podcast The Glow: https://erikjourgensen.bandcamp.com/album/the-glow-podcast   Follow us here & support us today by sharing and becoming a patron: TWITTER: @patterspod Bluesky: https://bsky.app/profile/patterspod.bsky.social Tumblr: https://www.tumblr.com/patterspod TikTok: @patterspod WEBSITE: http://patterspod.com TRANSCRIPTS: http://patterspod.com/transcripts PATREON: http://patreon.com/patterspod FACEBOOK: I have no idea how to find the link to this page but it is there if you search I swear

Lachenhut flew out toward the creature first.  Overclock and Keo hovered in the air, at the ready, but hanging back as our red-capped leader had requested. I watched it all through that little drone's cameras.  Silly, I had called it, ever since Overclock overproudly announced he had built something for the team.  And yet, Max Speed was there for his team, when I could not be.  I was laid up at headquarters, my powers drained, while my team faced the biggest challenge they had ever faced together.  Biggest, in every sense of the word.  Trudging toward the city was a giant creature with the head of a fly and the body of…a person almost.  All we could tell was that it was a living thing, not some kind of machine.  And it had just appeared out of thin air in the eastern harbor and started making its way to shore.   A robot, a power-shifting merman, a redcap, a brilliant drone, and a strong-man who's lost his strength face the biggest threat their city has seen. Genre: Science Fiction Tags: Anodos City, chromollage, faere folk, Keo, Lachenhut, Lorgnon, Max Speed, Mister Sarcomere, Overclock, redcap   Literary Influences: I took the name Anodos from a fairy tale written by George MacDonald, Phantastes, in which the main character is a young man named…Anodos.  I read the story long ago.  I don't recall understanding any of the subtext.  I just remember it as a story of someone wandering through another realm.   CREDITSStory: “Heroes of Anodos” Copyright © 2017 by Nila L.
