This past week was a busy time for the NHL and the Anaheim Ducks were no exception either. The Ducks lost Clayton Stoner and Shea Theodore in the Expansion Draft. Emerson Etem and Ryan Faragher are also set to become unrestricted free agents on July 1st as they both weren't given a qualifying offer. The Ducks are going to look to add some pieces to make another great run in the 2017-18 season. On this show, we talk about what other players the Ducks could add to their roster. Anaheim did re-sign Patrick Eaves for three more years and also Korbinian Holzer for two more years, but they still need to add more. On this show we talk about the Ducks chances of finishing the season strong and how far will they go in the playoffs. The Anaheim Ducks acquired Patrick Eaves from the Dallas Stars for a 2017 2nd round draft pick last week. The move was to help improve the Ducks offense and power play, but many feel it isn't enough if Anaheim wants to go deep in the playoffs this postseason. The Ducks enter their bye week two points behind Edmonton for second place in the Pacific Division. The question for the Ducks is will they go big this trade deadline or not? Bob Murray doesn't usually go big at the trade deadline and this year he said he didn't want to trade any defenseman for a rental player. On this show, we discuss possible trade partners and options for the Ducks. We also discuss several trades that have already happened in the past couple of days and how some may affect the Ducks.

Well, here we are-- the final 2016-17 regular season episode of the Keeping Karlsson Fantasy Hockey Podcast! (Elan wants you to know that, if you're a first time listener, this episode of the show is more lightly edited than usual, so expect a few uncharacteristic fumbles and pauses that normally don't make it to air outside of the live broadcast) Elan and Brian wrap up regular season business by combing the league leaders lists for a whole bunch of categories and coming up with a few interesting stories from the season to hone in on, including the unveiling of a recent 2nd overall pick's true star power down the stretch, the same for a slightly less recent 3rd overall pick, an historic season for a goal-hungry rookie, a debate between two Russian forwards who are good for at least 75 points, a Hurricane who broke the 60 point mark, a few goalies who've made a solid case for changing tiers, and the other underappreciated Bruin. Dobber Hockey's Managing Editor Steve Laidlaw came by to tell us about his 2016-17 fantasy all-stars at every position, and then some. He detailed his methodology for picking his all-stars, and also offered a look into his crystal ball for what this heralded group can offer next year, and how soon/late you should make a move for them in your 2017-18 drafts. Then, in a Keeping Karlsson first, the guys are joined by 6 KKUPFL champions to live-draft an 8 team, 6 player playoff pool. They also share some of their playoff pool drafting strategies later on in the show. And finally, they mourn the final week losses of a handful of teams, while celebrating the victories of a joyously long list of champion listeners. Congrats to everyone who won their pool this year! Other creases around the league get a similar glimpse, including goaltending 'situations' in Buffalo, Long Island, and Carolina. Then, we turn our attention to some of the hottest-- and coldest-- players in the NHL, and take a look under the hood to see whether or not a change in fortune awaits them in the near future, for better or for worse. And, finally, we take a few questions from our live studio audience, including thoughts on Anaheim's front and back ends, best candidates for a change of scenery, a potential hole to be filled on Calgary's top line, and which NHLer we'd want to see on Survivor.Players discussed on this episode include Jared Staal, Jason Spezza, Patrick Sharp, Jason Pominville, Jake Allen, Brian Elliott, Charlie Coyle, Martin Hanzal, Cam Ward, Eddie Lack, Joakim Nordstrom, Brayden Schenn, Martin Hanzal, Robin Lehner, Thomas Greiss, Jaroslav Halak, Shane Gostisbehere, Kyle Turris, Mike Green, Matthew Dumba, Mikko Koivu, Jared Spurgeon, Ryan Callahan, Marian Hossa, Andrew Shaw, Dustin Brown, Anze Kopitar, Bryan Little, Nikolai Ehlers, Andrew Ladd, Jiri Hudler, David Perron, Cam Fowler, Ryan O'Reilly, Evander Kane, Ivan Provorov, Oliver Ekman-Larsson, Kevin Connauton, Michael Stone, Andre Burakovsky, Evgeny Kuznetsov, Claude Giroux, Mattias Janmark, Patrick Eaves, Ales Hemsky, Sam Gagner, Martin Erat, Marty Turco, Ed Belfour, John Scott, and more.* * *Download this episode, subscribe, and review us on iTunes! If you enjoy the show, please support future episodes by becoming a patron of Keeping Karlsson. Keeping Karlsson patrons can join our patron-only Facebook group and take part in (and receive audio from) a monthly live, face-to-face and interactive Keeping Karlsson recording! You can also support us by telling a friend, subscribing to and reviewing Keeping Karlsson on iTunes, and following us on Twitter (@keepingkarlsson). Boxscores! Line juggling! On-ice events! Terrible goaltending performances! They're all finally here after a long season of waiting, and the Keeping Karlsson Fantasy Hockey Podcast is here to catch you up on all that you need to know about the first five days of NHL regular season play. First off, what the heck should you do with your team post-draft? Should you tinker with adds/drops or stand pat? Elan and Brian dish out some advice on early season management strategies, describing how they evaluate and react to the first handful of games played in a season. Next, they dig into the first week's most tantalizing performances, rolling through a list of the vets, rookies and tweeners who are scoring above a point-per-game pace at this early stage, and making the call on whether they're 'add now!!'s or wait-and-sees.  Elan and Brian then go over a handful of injuries, specifically speculating on what the heck might happen in LA's crease. Erik Karlsson's engaged, and we hope you are, too, throughout this entire brand new episode of the Keeping Karlsson Fantasy Hockey Podcast! This episode kicks off with a list of injuries to star players that might just be the kick in the pants their healthy teammates need to finally get going. We pore over the depth charts in Tampa Bay, New Jersey, Calgary and Washington to figure out who might be ready to pick up the slack, with a particular nod to a Devil you know from last season. Elan and Brian then go the other way to outjuries, considering whether the heretofore top line right winger in Dallas might finally get bumped, marveling at an entire top line that is criminally underowned, wondering whether a returning Red Wing offers any hope on a points-poor roster, and more. Finally, the guys run down current hot streaks around the NHL, including the other point man in Montreal, the other winger in Vancouver, the other rookie in Toronto, the other McDavid linemate in Edmonton, the other Anisimov linemate in Chicago, and the other other guys in Winnipeg. And somewhere along the way, they fight about Cam Ward and Jimmy Howard, while remaining reasonably calm on Mike Smith and Connor Hellebuyck. Players featured on this episode include Steven Stamkos, Jonathan Drouin, Taylor Hall, Damon Severson, Michael Cammalleri, Johnny Gaudreau, Sean Monahan, Sam Bennett, Chad Johnson, Brian Elliott, Andrei Vasilevskiy, Ben Bishop, Mark Giordano, Dougie Hamilton, TJ Oshie, Justin Williams, John Carlson, Andre Burakovsky, Bobby Ryan, Pavel Buchnevitch, Tomas Hertl, JT Miller, Mika Zibanejad, Jimmy Vesey, Chris Kunitz, Patric Hornqvist, Kevin Labanc, Patrick Marleau, Joe Thornton, Logan Couture, Patrick Sharp, Patrick Eaves, Jason Spezza, Antoine Roussel, Martin Hanzal, Radim Vrbata, Max Domi, Matt Niskanen, Mike Smith, Louis Domingue, Thomas Vanek, Henrik Zetterberg, Dylan Larkin, Jimmy Howard, Ondrej Palat, Tyler Johnson, Petr Mrazek, Cam Ward, Andrei Markov, Victor Rask, Teuvo Teravainen, Brandon Sutter, Troy Stecher, James van Riemsdyk, Mitch Marner, Tyler Bozak, Morgan Rielly, Marian Hossa, Artem Anisimov, Jesse Puljujarvi, Milan Lucic, Patrick Maroon, Jordan Eberle, Marko Dano, Nic Petan, Connor Hellebuyck, and more. This episode was sponsored in part by DRAFT! It's a super fun and simple daily fantasy app where you build your team through a snake draft with your opponent, and then compete through the night's or week's games. Do you like Mark Borowiecki? Do you like loud yeses? If yes, then you'll love the opening to this edition of the Keeping Karlsson Fantasy Hockey Podcast-- and you'll hopefully find some value in the fantasy hockey news, analysis and advice that follows, too!   Elan and Brian kick off the show with a visit to the infirmary, where they consider whether there's already a perfectly capable replacement for Kris Letang in Pittsburgh, whether there's anyone even left to play for the Habs, how the heck Cory Conacher found his way back into the Lightning lineup (and use this as a springboard to consider whether Victor Hedman is a top ten keeper defenseman), who the heck this Seth Griffith guy is that appeared in the midst of Marchessault's returns and departures to the lineup, and whether there's any meaning in Pastrnak's injury for Patrice Bergeron's fortunes rest of year.   Then they head over to the outfirmary, where they question Avs' management's handling of their should-be-peaking captain, wonder what Chicago's lines will possibly look like going forward, and chatter about whether anyone playing with the Flames' two best forwards is worth owning.   In hot streaks, they bicker (again!) over the future of a Duck on fire, a recently snoozing Senator, another blueline producer in Toronto, a Tavares linemate in Brooklyn, a sizeable chunk of the top nine in Minnesota, a Barracuda temporarily(?) evolved into a Shark, the obvious number one goalie in New York, and a guy who is awful but throws a billion hits, so he's got that going for him.   And just a couple cold streaks this week, featuring this week's victim of the St Louis Blues shuffle (but is there more to it than that?), a Star whose lost his grip on the coattails he's been riding, and a curiously underperforming super Star whose once long coattails have suddenly shrunk.   The show closes off with a few guys Brian tosses in at the end, including a dream sequence still continuing in Carolina, a secretive resurgence in Washington, and the very early seeds of a crease controversy for a Pacific team that's been without one for ages.   Players featured on this episode include Justin Schultz, Patric Hornqvist, Patrice Bergeron, Frank Vatrano, Kris Letang, Jeff Petry, Seth Griffith, Jonathan Marchessault, Alex Barkov, Jaromir Jagr, Jussi Jokinen, Cory Conacher, Victor Hedman, Tyler Johnson, Gabriel Landeskog, Jarome Iginla, Jonathan Toews, Artem Anisimov, Marian Hossa, Kris Versteeg, Sean Monahan, Troy Brouwer, Johnny Gaudreau, TJ Brodie, Mark Giordano, Chad Johnson, Brian Elliott, Rickard Rakell, Sami Vatanen, Shea Theodore, Corey Perry, Bobby Ryan, Jake Gardiner, James van Riemsdyk,  Nazem Kadri, Anders Lee, Josh Bailey, Eric Staal, Nino Niderreiter, Mikko Koivu, Timo Meier, Henrik Lundqvist, Antti Raana, Mark Borowiecki, Alex Steen, Patrick Eaves, Jamie Benn, Derek Ryan, Evgeny Kuznetsov, Antti Niemi, Pekka Rinne, Juuse Saros and more.   This episode was sponsored in part by SeatGeek. As on any given Sunday, go ahead and pop in your air buds-- it's time for little fantasy giants Elan and Brian to help you remember the titans (and not-so-titans) of this week's NHL action in a brand new episode of the Keeping Karlsson Fantasy Hockey Podcast!  In this week's injuries, it's a real case of you don't know what you've got til it's gone with a shelved even-strength stud in Pittsburgh, a still underappreciated centreman in Dallas, and a Lightning forward whose absences from the scoresheet are now further assured. In outjuries, the guys go back to the future in trying to imagine what 2/3 of the Panthers' first line can offer on offesne, and what that also means for former and remaining members of that top trio. They also head to the desert to wonder how excited it's reasonable to get about they Coyotes' likely top scorer, and then move slightly westward for a Kings forward who finally has returned to the lineup. This episode's hot streaks feature your Cane(s) of the Week, a powerless Senators centreman finding his way at even strength, a meh Shark becoming more whoa, Cody Franson???, a re-established Nashville #1, and a challenger for #1 on the Columbus blueline. Cold streaks end the show, with looks at an ever-alarming press box presence in Philadelphia, an unsprung foward in Minnesota, and a flickering Flame. Goalie confusion abounds on the newest episode of the Keeping Karlsson Fantasy Hockey Podcast! Why are some of the best goalies actually awful so far? Why are some of the oldest 'tenders dodging regression for their 3rd year in a row? How badly should you want an awful goalie on one of the best teams in the league? What #2s are potentially morphing into #1b? We also flip through a bunch of recently outjured players to see if our projections have changed for them since their last NHL action-- including a PPQB and one-time starting goale in the Atlantic, an old soul in San Jose, and a finally returned Blue. Also, Brian mistakes Juuso Riikola's first name for Juusi. Please accept our sincerest apologies. Join our Fanduel Weekly Listener League! Registration opens Tuesday around 10am ET. Head to fanduel.com/karlsson to get your spot. This is it-- the final preseason episode of the Keeping Karlsson Fantasy Hockey Podcast!! Elan and Brian couldn't be more excited about it, and being closer to 2017-18 faceoff than ever, the guys feel ready to take seriously some of the line combo and deployment situations from the final minutes of exhibition play.
