The Dallas Stars (34-17-13) are off today, but there's still plenty to discuss in the world of Texas hockey. Today we'll talk about the Jacob Peterson to San Jose trade and why it happened and what it means for the organization going forward. We'll also discuss the seasons that Thomas Harley and Will Butcher are having in the AHL with the Texas Stars and whether or not we'll see them in the NHL this season. To end the show, we'll talk about the coming return of Luke Glendening and what that could mean for the Dallas Stars lineup.Follow Dane on Twitter: https://twitter.com/Dane__LewisFollow the show on Twitter: https://twitter.com/LockedOnStarsFollow the show on Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/lockedonstars/Support Us By Supporting Our Sponsors!Built BarBuilt Bar is a protein bar that tastes like a candy bar. The NHL Season is less than 48 hours away. We at the Forecheck are celebrating vividly with another rendition of the Two Man Forecheck. Shea Theodore has come back to the fold, signing a 7 year, 36.4-million-dollar contract with Vegas. Is he really happy with this deal or did he just want to play hockey? Either way, the Golden Knights are thrilled he is back. The Twitter Polls are out and completed. Last week we asked which rookie would have the best second season. With 63% of the vote, Kyle Conner was the winner, but are the results too one-sided? Should the percentages have been closer? Second place Will Butcher would agree with that. The latest poll asks which of the last 4 teams standing last year will get out to the hottest start? The poll indicates that Winnipeg and Tampa Bay will, but the week isn’t over yet. The discussion on goaltender pads took us in directions we had not anticipated. Goal scoring, pugilism, the number of officials on the ice and many other factors entered the discussion before it was over. We’d love some opinions on this topic. The Forecheckers make their selections for top 4 in the Metropolitan and Pacific divisions, and as usual, Mike has to throw a monkey wrench into the works and kick up some dust with one of his picks. Let us know what you think. Finally, we talk about the Bruins and their final moves as well as some other prospects and young players that fill out the roster. A full slate to be sure, let us know what you think and keep voting on those polls. Enjoy the show!
We start the show with thoughts about Nick Lappin taking 1st line reps. Then it's on to player previews for Will Butcher and Kyle Palmieri.
As the IIHF Worlds push on, Will Butcher has already left his mark, as has Keith Kinkaid. We'll take a look at the ongoing tournament in Denmark. Then it's on to player grades once again, as we discuss the easiest one (Hall) and perhaps the most difficult player to grade in Damon Severson. Your calls and comments too.
Next up for player grades are Will Butcher and Travis Zajac. Butcher, who burst onto the scene after being signed in the offseason had a strong rookie season that is continuing in the IIHF World Championships in Denmark. Zajac found some cohesiveness later on in the year and turned in another solid performance. Also, NJ Asst. GM Tom Fitzgerald is interviewing for the MIN GM opening.
We're joined at 1 pm by Devils defenseman Will Butcher who will discuss the team, his own play and his path to the NHL that saw him win a national championship and the Hobey Baker Award when at Denver. Then, we'll break down Tuesday's game which saw the Devils notch their first ever win in Brooklyn, defeating the Islanders 4-1 to snap their six-game losing streak. All that and your calls/comments as well.

Brandon rants about Will Butcher and we preview this week of Fantasy Hockey. We also offer up some short term players and long term players to keep an eye on.
The Devils kicked off the 2017-2018 season in style by defeating the Colorado Avalanche 4-1 in front of a loud, sellout crowd from Prudential Center. Will Butcher finished with 3 assists on the day and Jesper Bratt added a goal and an assist as the Devils won their first game of the season. We'll break down the game, as well as get you set for Monday afternoon's contest against the Buffalo Sabres.
The Devils used a four goal first period to skate to a 4-1 win in Washington D.C. to cap off the preaseason. Nico Hischier had 3 points (1g, 2a) to lead the way. With the preseason done, the Devils will look to finalize their roster. We move on to player previews, as we discuss Joe Blandisi and Will Butcher.
Breaking news on Sunday as the Devils have won the coveted Will Butcher sweepstakes. They signed the former Denver defenseman to a 2 year ELC. We'll break down what it means for the club moving forward, as well as take your calls/comments, etc.
The Oilers have the 3 center model all signed up, with Leon Draisaitl having signed his 8-year x $8.5M contract. Are they in a cap crunch because of McDavid and Draisaitl or are there other contracts that will see RNJ moved out of Edmonton? Matt Cullen is back in Minnesota, great for the Wild, holes are starting to get deeper for Pittsburgh. They could get worse with a Hornqvist extension too! Jagr watch might wrap up in Calgary, where will Will Butcher land and what is going on in Detroit with A squared? As always thanks for listening and enjoy! --- This episode is sponsored by · Anchor: The easiest way to make a podcast. https://anchor.fm/app Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/hockey-hurts/support

A little offseason isn't going to stop Puck University. We're back with one final rumination on the season gone by, with Chris Lynch calling in to discuss the Frozen Four. The atmosphere in Chicago was excellent, and it has us wondering if maybe the Frozen Four is best in markets that don't see college hockey very often. We break down each of the three games that ended the season, and how Denver survived a late onslaught by Minnesota-Duluth. The NCHC proved itself as the best conference in the country. Chris and I also touch base on our Hobey Baker discussions from the previous episode, and whether there were any issues with Will Butcher winning the award. Finally, we look ahead to what will be a busy offseason for college hockey, and look back at the tremendous career of Red Berenson as he departs the University of Michigan.

J.J Jerez and Zach Fogg are back to look ahead to the future and how the Avalanche should go about rebuilding itself. They start with a breakdown and logical solution to the trade Matt Duchene narrative. Then, the guys analyze each free agent from this past season’s roster and whether or not they should stay around. JJ and Zach then wrap up with Will Butcher watch and, of course, their three stars of the week. #Avalanche Talk will come to you each and every week to bring you all the #Avs analysis you need in your life. It’s available on iTunes, Audioboom, and 5280 Sports Network.
More than 600 people died on Colorado roads last year. The state says it's an epidemic of distracted driving -- especially among teens. New technologies created by a Boulder entrepreneur and a major automaker aim to lower the number of deaths. Then, the University of Denver's men's hockey team plays for the national championship this weekend, led by Will Butcher, who is up for an award given to the nation's best player. Also, West Central Colorado has seen the worst of the coal slump and residents aren't counting on President Donald Trump to bring back the industry. And, you might think of Nashville, not Denver, as a hotspot for country music but bands like Bison Bone are here to change that. Their debut album,“History Of Falling” is out today.
On a rainy afternoon in the City of Broad Shoulders, Inside Hockey's Chris Lynch calls the podcast from the United Center to discuss the Frozen Four, the path all four teams took to get there, and the Hobey Baker Award. Hear how Frank Serratore won Chris over at the Providence regional as Air Force proved themselves worthy of the NCAA field, and how Air Force won a coaching matchup for the ages in their regional semifinal against Western Michigan. We also go over the wild North Dakota-BU game, Denver's dominance of the Midwest, and Notre Dame's amazing nine day turnaround against UMass-Lowell. Chris and I get into a little Hobey Baker talk, and for the second week I'm stumping to nobody in particular for Zach Aston-Reese, the Northeastern senior who would represent the school's first ever Hobey Baker Award winner. Chris makes a strong case for Will Butcher, and we both discuss how Thursday night's game for Denver could sway the voting. I've referred to Aston-Reese as the "leader in the clubhouse," but by that analogy Butcher still has a hole to play. Cal Petersen's article that Chris mentions during the podcast can be found through this link to The Players' Tribune and is a true must-read for the college hockey fan.

The Denver Post's Mike Chambers and Terry Frei discuss the Colorado Avalanche as their horrible season winds to an end. Included in the conversation is an in-depth talk about comments made by defenseman Erik Johnson. Mike and Terry also discuss the Denver Pioneers hockey team as it prepares for the NCAA tournament. The conversation touches on Avs' prospect Will Butcher and whether top NHL prospects like Tyson Jost and Henrik Borgstrom should stay more than one year in college before turning pro.
Avalanche writers Terry Frei and Mike Chambers discuss the season-ending injury to defenseman Nikita Zadorov, the pending return of blue-liner Erik Johnson, the upcoming March 1 trade deadline and the professional future of DU Pioneers captain Will Butcher, the Avalanche draftee. Mike hosts the podcast from Nashville, where the Avs play Thursday, with Terry calling in from Denver after working Colorado's practice Wednesday before the squad traveled to the Music City.
On the first episode of season four of the NCHC Radio Show, the 2016-17 season is previewed, as well as the first full regular-season weekend (Oct. 7-8). Included in the show are sound bites from North Dakota head coach Brad Berry, Minnesota Duluth head coach Scott Sandelin, St. Cloud State head coach Bob Motzko, Denver senior captain Will Butcher and Colorado College head coach Mike Haviland. Also hear the game-winning goal call from UMD's come-from-behind win over Michigan Tech last Sunday.
