Lieve vrienden,    Vorige week Piet (Grasspriet), deze week Pete! Pete Philly, om precies te zijn. Misschien ken je hem van het duo Pete Philly & Perquisite, van zijn solowerk of van zijn scherpe aanwezigheid online.  Pete is niet bang. Niet bang om dingen te benoemen zoals ze zijn.   Naar eigen zeggen is hij nog nooit zo scherp geweest als vandaag de dag. Maar dat pad naar vrijheid kwam niet vanzelf.    Hij vertelt open over zijn jarenlange strijd met Lyme. Hoe hij zich leeggeslurpt voelde, medische instanties hem niet serieus namen en er geen hulp kwam. Totdat hij op een gegeven moment de alternatieve route ontdekte. Dat werd het begin van een andere benadering. Hij nam afstand van het systeem en ging zijn eigen pad volgen, met voeding, alternatieve therapieën en zijn intuïtie als leidraad. “Het medisch apparaat heeft niet gewerkt voor iemand als ik. Wietolie, bijvoorbeeld, wél. Dat was voor mij echt het nekschot tegen lyme.”   Van de farmaceutische industrie hoeft hij niks meer te weten. “Eigenlijk kan de hele farmaceutische industrie de prullenbak in.” Ook het onderwijs bood hem nooit echt een plek. Veel systemen, zegt hij, zijn te hoekig. Niet gebouwd rond de mens. Zijn muziek is daarbij altijd een manier geweest om dat aan te kaarten. “Mijn allereerste solo ging ook over environment, over het systeem. Ik heb het altijd hier over gehad.” Wat hij nu maakt is eerlijk, rauw en volledig van hem. En reken maar dat dat niet meer gaat veranderen. “Ik ga mijn authentieke zelf niet wegduwen in dienst van mensen die ik verre van authentiek vind.”   Lekker verfrissend!    We spreken ruim twee uur over trauma, generatiepijn, creativiteit en het belang van trouw blijven aan jezelf. Hocus Focus Mix met Pete Philly, Perquisite, Tinlicker, Pink Floyd, Muse, WIES & Franz Ferdinand

Duos im Hip Hop, das funktioniert einfach. Eingespielte Teams die sich ergänzen. Der eine mit den Beats, der andere mit den Rhymes. Pete Philly & Perquisite haben von 2005 bis 2007 mit den Alben Mindstate, Remindstate und Mystery Repeats die holländische Hip Hop Szene auf der internationalen Landkarte positioniert. 2009 haben sie sich getrennt. In deze aflevering praat Benjamin met Boudewijn, Thijs en Aron van het Utrechtse collectief .multibeat. Een beat-based en instrumentale formatie die RnB-hiphop songs maakt met een dosis jazz als basis. Na vele singles en twee albums te hebben uitgebracht, hebben ze afgelopen april hun derde album, 'Channel Island' met de wereld gedeeld. Een album waarin het trio de basis legt, maar waarop ze ook andere artiesten featuren, zoals Pete Philly, GINGE en Joya Mooi.

Vandaag in Spijkers met Koppen: Pianiste Iris Hond schreef de muziek van haar nieuwe album met de slaap nog in haar ogen. Bij Spijkers brengt ze een ode aan de ochtend. De onderhandelingen over een staakt-het-vuren tussen Israël en Hamas verlopen uiterst moeizaam. Vredesonderhandelaar Fleur Ravensbergen legt uit hoe zulke onderhandelingen verlopen. Het beeld van de boze, valse stiefmoeder is flink aan herziening toe, stelt stiefmoeder en schrijver Jasperina Roozendaal. Een dag voor Moederdag geeft ze bij Spijkers toelichting. Een wethouder moet verplicht in zijn eigen gemeente wonen, maar is die verplichting nog van deze tijd? Axel Boomgaars, van de Wethoudersvereniging, vindt van niet. Arnout Hoekstra, SP-raadslid in Vlaardingen, vindt van wel. Nog 76 dagen tot de Olympische Spelen van start gaan. Maar voor top-beachvolleyballers Stefan Boermans en Yorick de Groot is het nog heel spannend of ze mee mogen doen. Presentatrice Eva Eikhout heeft het FFU-Syndroom, waardoor ze zeer korte armen en benen heeft. In haar nieuwe boek legt ze uit hoe je leven er dan uit ziet. Joost Klein bracht met zijn ‘Europapa' de gabber letterlijk naar een internationaal podium. Gabber-van-het-eerste-uur Ilja Reiman vertelt wat hij daarvan vindt. Met Lammert de Bruin bespreken we het laatste nieuws rondom de diskwalificatie van Joost Klein. Het cabaret is in handen van Andries Tunru, Martijn Kardol en Lotte Velvet, Teun van den Elzen is er met de column en muziek komt deze week alsnóg van Pete Philly & Perquisite!

Radiojingle-kenner Benno Roozen en Tobias Idzerda komen het doosje laten zien. Advocate Eva González Pérez zorgde met haar jarenlange strijd ervoor dat de problemen van toeslagenouders gezien werden. Oud-politica Renske Leijten schreef een boek over haar en samen schuiven ze aan. Elf jaar geleden werd de Curaçaose politicus Helmin Wiels op klaarlichte dag doodgeschoten op het strand. Radiopresentator Natasja Gibbs onderzocht in haar podcast WIELS het verhaal achter die moord. Honderdduizenden Nederlanders werden in de Tweede Wereldoorlog tewerkgesteld in Duitsland. Zo ook de vader van oud-journalist Tim Overdiek. In een boek beschrijft Tim zijn verhaal. Als enige Nederlandse atlete stoot Jessica Schilder haar kogels voorbij de 20 meter. Maar is het ook genoeg voor een medaille op de Spelen in Parijs? En hoeveel kwark is daarvoor nodig? Volgens Gijs Tuinman, kamerlid van BBB, zouden Oekraïense vluchtelingen beter terug naar hun land kunnen gaan om daar te vechten in de oorlog. In Spijkers vertelt hij over zijn plan. Muziekwetenschapper Evert Bisschop Boele en oud-politica Annemarie Jorritsma delen een grote liefde: het shantykoor. In Spijkers vertellen ze waarom en natuurlijk wordt er een mopje gezongen. ‘Eon' is het nieuwe album van vocalist/songwriter Pete Philly en componist/producer Perquisite. Met dit derde album viert het hiphop-duo hun oneindige verbondenheid met elkaar door middel van muziek.
