I am a creative thinker, and maybe a bit on the quirky side. I recognize my creative thoughts don't work on a 9-5 schedule. When the urge to write short stories, poetry or a podcast hits, I simply need to stop and get that creative urge out of the way so I can better focus on projects around me. Most creatives understand this scenario, and it can present challenges when balancing creative moments with responsibility. In this episode I had a wonderful discussion with Lisa Zawrotny, the founder of Positively Productive Systems and the host of the Positively Living Podcast. Together we talk about the challenges of a creative mind, methods to prioritize while allowing the inner artist to blossom. If you are a "creative", you will likely relate to this and if not, it may help bring some understanding to the creatives in your life. *AUDIO EPISODES: https://www.lindysaudiocafe.com*FACEBOOK GROUP: https://www.facebook.com/groups/lindysaudiocafepodcast*SUPPORT THE SHOW - Buy Me a Coffee: https://www.buymeacoffee.com/lefhxiyfb COURTESY LINKS:Episode Guest: Lisa Zawrotny, Productivity Strategist & Accountability CoachPositively Productive Systems https://positivelyproductive.com/about-me-2/Support the show

Since I founded Positively Productive Systems in 2016, I've seen my fair share of physical clutter and loved every minute of helping clients clear it and start fresh. But what I've been most fascinated with is helping clients declutter their minds and hearts because inside is where it all starts. This week, episode 118 of the Positively Living Podcast is about 7 ways we sabotage our happiness and productivity! In this episode of the Positively Living Podcast, I'm sharing the importance of noticing the link between our physical space and how it is affected by what is going on inside our minds and I provide actionable steps you can take right now to get to the root of the matter, your mindset. Shifting your mindset is critical for long lasting change. The 7 ways we sabotage our happiness and productivity are:Saying “should” all of the time. Comparing ourselves to others. Assuming what people think. Repeating the same negative stories.Believing that self-care is optional.Spending time with negative people. Seeing failure as a bad thing. What you focus on, you fuel. Where you direct your attention matters and you end up with more of whatever has it. What has your attention?Thank you for listening! “Gratitude for the gift of life is the primary wellspring of all religions, the hallmark of the mystic, the source of all true art.” ~ Joanna Macy Guest Introduction: Welcome. I'm Cindy MacMillan, and this is Exploring the Seasons of Life podcast. Today we are talking about balance and the benefits of gratitude. Do you ever feel like you are waiting on a permission slip to live the life you want? If you answered yes, then you are in the right spot. Each week I interview coaches and spiritual explorers, from all walks of life about beginnings, endings and the messy bits in between. Self-love well-being and mindset are at the heart of our conversations. Because once you change the inside, the outside will begin to change as well. Before I introduce my guest - would you do me a quick favor? I don't say this nearly enough but if you want to support the show, the number one thing you can do is share it on your social media and tag me. That will help me get the word out and I'd be forever grateful. All right, friend. Sit back, relax and enjoy my conversation with Lisa Zawrotny. Lisa Zawrotny is the founder of Positively Productive Systems, host of the Positively Living Podcast, and a Productivity + Organizing Coach certified in time and stress management. Here's a glimpse of our conversation: Lisa thanks so much for coming on the show. I'm so, so honored you're here. 1:54 I love that phrase, because exploring to me means curiosity. And I've talked about this many times with my clients, and even on my podcast that when we are curious, we leave the judgment at the door. 7:36 I think one of the biggest things and I've been interviewed about this, specifically, being a sandwich caregiver is that you are, you're dealing with parents, you know, or a parent or parents, who were your strength, who were your guide who took care of you. And now the roles are reversed. And those are things in life that we can't prepare for and managing those and working our way through those. Oh, my goodness, it's a challenge. 9:54 I will often use the phrase, you know, work life balance because people recognize it. But then once we start a conversation about it, we talk rather about harmony within our lives and all the things that we love. 14:51 And because, by the way, just from a productivity side, New Year's resolutions are a true struggle for people after a month. There's only 25% of those who have resolution set still hanging on. And ultimately, overall, only 8% of those who set resolutions actually keep them. 21:28 And I think that's so important that you mentioned that number one that we think we know something right and gratitude, things like gratitude, self-care, these have become buzzwords. And so, it is my mission, to address these words and say, do we really know what that is? And not only that, but what it is for us and what it can mean for us? 26:02 Okay, so the place that I start everyone with, is awareness. Our guest for today is Lisa Zawrotny. Lisa is the founder of Positively Productive Systems and the host of the Positively Living Podcast. After experiencing a deeply overwhelming time in her life juggling multiple roles as a caregiver, wife, mother, and business owner, she is now a Productivity + Organizing Coach certified in time and stress management helping multi-passionate creatives boost productivity, balance business and family, and avoid burnout, simply and sustainably. Links to connect with Lisa: https://positivelyproductive.com/ https://instagram.com/positively_lisa https://facebook.com/positivelyproductive These are my Key Takeaways from my dialogue with Lisa today: 1. It is critical that we remember this life lesson from Lisa till we need it, maybe, in several decades. This is the premise of Sharing Life Lessons that we learn from each other's experiences without having to go through every experience ourselves, especially the bitter ones. Lisa is convinced that she will let her children do what is best for everyone in any given situation and not make them promise that they will not put her in a nursing home. Each one of us is aging. I pray that none of us need to depend on our children physically or financially. But if we ever must then I pray that we are able to give them the freedom to choose the caregiving option that works best for them. 2. We don't have to fill every moment. We don't have to always be ‘doing'. Let's create space and time for us to just ‘be'. 3. We want to try to do less, live more, live better, breathe easier, reduce our stress, and take care of ourselves. Self-care is not optional! There are no bonus points in life for increasing the level of difficulty for ourselves or for not tending to our own needs. 4. Lisa mentioned this insightful quote by Sophia Bush: You are allowed to be a work in progress and a masterpiece simultaneously. I will bring you the next episode of Sharing Life Lessons next Wednesday. Until then, 'be happy, be safe and be blessed'. Many people consider clutter to be the mess on the floor or the stacks of unfiled papers on your desk, but it comes in many forms. Clutter is actually anything that stops you from living the life you want to live. When your physical surroundings are cluttered, you'll likely see that manifest on the inside. A cluttered space creates a cluttered mind. In this episode, Lisa Zawrotny, Certified Stress Management & Productivity Coach, and founder of Positively Productive Systems provides tips on how to declutter your life by starting with small changes that help you alleviate stress, anxiety, and overwhelm. What she shares also helps tremendously with time management! Passive clutter, a term Lisa coined, is uncontrolled information that demands your attention. This comes in many different forms including emails and the need to clear our inbox. In a world of information overload, filtering and receiving information on your own terms is key to simplifying your life and making space for the things that really matter. I asked my guest, Lisa Zawrotny, to talk about balancing the many roles that we face in the sandwich generation. She speaks to the important of taking a break in transition. While clearing physical clutter is important, the work of healing emotional clutter is even more so. We talk about the mindset it takes to let things go especially when we think (know – hah!) we’re right. We delve into the effects of chronic stress and the pandemic. And how we create systems that honor our thresholds. We wrap with a discussion of the importance of breathing when we’re in those stress filled moments and the power of the pause. Successful decluttering often happens from the inside out. It's only by understanding what we value and how we use it that we can create efficient spaces that work for us. Listen as I chat with productivity coach Lisa Zawrotny about how decluttering helped her through an incredibly emotional and stressful time, and how she uses this experience to help her clients. We also talk about the powerful impact gratitude has on anyone looking to simplify or declutter their life and home. In this episode, Lisa referenced the book The Big Leap, by Gay Hendricks. About the Guest: Lisa Zawrotny founded Positively Productive Systems as a result of a deeply overwhelming time in her life juggling multiple roles as a caregiver for her Mom with Alzheimer's, as well as wife, mother (to kids & cats) and as a business owner. As a Productivity & Organizing coach certified in time & stress management and life coaching, Lisa shares the powerful healing of simplifying, self-care, and structure with her chronically overwhelmed clients. Believing that one size does NOT fit all—especially when it comes to organizing your time and space—Lisa teaches value-based decluttering and customized system design in a way that will honor your personality and purpose. Lisa is also the host of the new podcast, Positively Living, where she helps the chronically overwhelmed make space for what matters most in their lives. To learn more about Lisa visit her at www.positivelyproductive.com, Facebook, Instagram, and listen to the Positively Living Podcast. About the Host: Janice Scholl has spent her entire career talking about money and business. Through her time as a commercial banker, consultant and mentor to budding entrepreneurs, she helped clients create solid business and financial strategies to help propel their business to success. While working with aspiring female entrepreneurs, Janice noticed that the same four themes kept repeating: Many women are uncomfortable with finance, both in their business and in their personal life. Women want access to more women mentors and advisors. Women often start businesses because they feel the corporate world doesn't fit their lifestyle. Few are motivated by purely financial reasons. Mothers didn't want money to drive their family decisions. From these themes The Money, Career, & Motherhood Podcast was born. Now Janice spends her time helping mothers gain confidence and understanding about money, career, and business topics as they relate to motherhood and family – the way many women actually think about money. Janice loves helping mothers implement business and financial strategies within their families to help each family member thrive. In today's episode I am chatting with Lisa Zawrotny from Positively Productive Systems. Lisa was a caregiver for a mom with Alzheimer’s, and had two babies during that time. She shares how sheer overwhelm...chaos and clutter...nearly took her down. But she not only found my way through, she took what she learned and began to help others. Lisa's family also went through a challenging time financially, where they had to try to sell their home, pick up and leave to live with her in-laws. They moved hours away from what they knew, with no prospects, and basically started life over. She used every skill she had (simplicity, organizing, project management, productivity, gratitude practice, positivity, etc.) to survive this massive life shift and help her children and husband do the same. Lisa shares that they didn’t just survive, but are now thriving. Lisa now works with moms using her proprietary system, to declutter in whatever way they need - physically, emotionally, mentally, and for their schedule. She has a wonderful perspective on how you can investigate what's causing you struggles, and how you can make simple changes that work for you and your family. She has a ton of helpful tips for how to establish boundaries, how to gently say no to requests for your time and energy, how to negotiate with your kids...there are so many nuggets, this episode is a goldmine for busy mamas. She teaches us how to Do Less, Live More and Breathe Easier.

Today's guest became a productivity coach and professional organizer after being trapped in her own clutter and chaos caused by caregiving for her Mom (who had Alzheimer's) while running multiple businesses and caring for her family(kids, cats, and hubby). She was a “sandwich caregiver” (caring for both young children and her aging mother) and the effect on her health and home was devastating. Through a combination of renewed self-care, personal development, and her own customized organizing and productivity approaches, she took back her own health and sanity and not only changed where her family lived, but how they lived. The process was so healing for her that she knew she needed to help others do the same and created Positively Productive Systems. In addition to years of organizing and coaching experience, she is a certified life coach and member of the National Association of Productivity and Organizing Professionals. She has over 20 years' experience in the corporate and business world as well, which allows her to serve entrepreneurs and employees alike. She loves to compassionately and confidently serve nurturers and caregivers who are struggling to balance family and business.
