Send me a text!Redefining our relationship to productivity is a necessary component of preventing burnout and cultivating well-being. Our current societal relationship to productivity is built on Industrial Revolution era conception of work ethic. This conception wraps our value into what we can produce, dehumanizing us in the process. In order to rehumanize our relationship to our energy, we must first reclaim our worth separate from external measures of production. Additionally we must learn to tap into our values and honor our capacity as we prioritize our energy usage. In this episode of Unlimited, I invited Lisa Zawrotny (she/her) to join me in a conversation about redefining our relationship to productivity to support our mental health and well-being.Some of what we talk about in this episode includes:The Industrial Revolution's influence on how we understand productivityChoosing where to utilize your energy based on your capacityClarifying your values and releasing shouldsThe glorification of overwork and weaponization of urgencyDefining enough for goal setting and knowing YOU are enoughLINKS FROM THIS EPISODE:Rethinking Empowerment and Releasing ComparisonLoving Yourself Through GriefWhy Work Life Balance is a MythThe Myths Around ProductivityCONNECT WITH LISA:WebsiteInstagram PinterestPodcastCONNECT WITH VALERIE:Website Instagram Get email updatesSupport the Show.

I'd like to begin this episode by acknowledging the land that I am learning and living on is the traditional unceded, un-surrendered territory of the Algonquin Anishnaabeg People. I don't like clutter. I don't like having all kinds of extra things just laying around taking up space in my physical and emotional spaces. Now, that's not to say I don't have all kinds of things floating around in my mind, or that I live a physical minimalist lifestyle, but I do like things to be neatly placed in their spot. The trick with this is that I sometimes become overwhelmed when I feel as though I'm overly cluttered.  And these feelings and preferences are not specific for me, most often, new leaders feel as though their ‘workspace', in whatever way we are discussing, can feel cluttered, creating spaces where we can get tripped up.So... how can we become uncluttered?Well, I have good news because in this episode, you'll hear from Lisa Zawrotny, a productivity and accountability coach who will talk about decluttering and how this clarity can lead to stress management, giving new leaders clear mind and body.  Lisa will do this by offering her proven decluttering framework. Trench Leadership: A Podcast From the Front is humbled to have been named #7 in the Top 20 for Best Canadian Leadership-themed podcasts for 2023. Lisa's Episode Links:1. A planner is not going to save you girl. Put down the new basket. A system that you just adopt isn't going to work for you, because none of them are personalized to you. Clutter and lack of clarity are keeping you from living the life of your dreams. Doing the right things, in the right way, in the right order is a learned skill - and it takes knowing yourself and getting to the real root of the problem. Without that, you are just trying systems with no chance at success. Lisa and I discuss the impact of self awareness and how to build systems that work for you.

There is nothing more important than your mental health, not your projects, your career, your relationships, nothing. This week, on a special bonus episode of Listeners to Leads, we're talking about your mental health being more important than your productivity. In this episode of Listeners to Leads, my guest Lisa Zawrotny and I share the trends we are seeing with clients being urged towards byrnout, despite accepting the “freedom from the hustle” mindset and reminding you that your wellbeing always comes first. Lisa and I also chat about the following: The trends we are seeing that are leading to burnout, the reasons behind these trends, and how to protect yourself from them. That initial energetic exchange you have with someone, either as a coach or a client, is going to set the precedent for the type of relationship you have with that person. Avoiding the comparison trap by figuring out and sticking to what works for you. Understanding that rest is just as productive as anything else and your value is not determined by the amount you do. Self-care is more than taking a spa day; it is setting boundaries and maintaining a lifestyle that keeps burnout at bay. I want you to dream big, to create, and to love what you do, but in the end, you HAVE to prioritize you and that means acknowledging what you need and protecting it.Be sure to tune in to all the episodes to receive tons of practical tips on turning your podcast listeners into leads and to hear even more about the points outlined above.Thank you for listening! Being a caregiver is tumultuous. There are many highs and lows. But being a caregiver for someone with Alzheimer's or dementia takes that to an entirely new level. And when that person is your mother, well there is nothing more rewarding and painful at the same time as being able to care for the woman who cared for you as a child. But along with that comes trauma. And so much of it. Watching someone you love turn into someone you don't know, and who doesn't know you is heartbreaking. Lisa Zawrotny's story —and the reason she does what she does now — started when she was a caregiver for her mom who had Alzheimer's.She moved her mom into her home when she was pregnant with her son and then had also had her daughter all while still caring for her mother. What Lisa went through to keep her mom children safe (including her children safe from her) was something she didn't label as trauma for years, but realizes now that's exactly what it was.It impacted her physical and mental health and changed how she viewed the world. Those life lessons make Lisa the coach she is today.

Our guest for today is Lisa Zawrotny. Lisa is the founder of Positively Productive Systems and the host of the Positively Living Podcast. After experiencing a deeply overwhelming time in her life juggling multiple roles as a caregiver, wife, mother, and business owner, she is now a Productivity + Organizing Coach certified in time and stress management helping multi-passionate creatives boost productivity, balance business and family, and avoid burnout, simply and sustainably. When she's not sharing about the wonders of simplicity, self-care, and systems, she's playing music, drinking iced coffee, and watching movies with her husband and kiddos, or reading while trapped under a cat. Links to connect with Lisa: https://positivelyproductive.com/ https://instagram.com/positively_lisa https://facebook.com/positivelyproductive These are my Key Takeaways from my dialogue with Lisa today: 1. It is critical that we remember this life lesson from Lisa till we need it, maybe, in several decades. This is the premise of Sharing Life Lessons that we learn from each other's experiences without having to go through every experience ourselves, especially the bitter ones. Lisa is convinced that she will let her children do what is best for everyone in any given situation and not make them promise that they will not put her in a nursing home. Each one of us is aging. I pray that none of us need to depend on our children physically or financially. But if we ever must then I pray that we are able to give them the freedom to choose the caregiving option that works best for them. 2. We don't have to fill every moment. We don't have to always be ‘doing'. Let's create space and time for us to just ‘be'. 3. We want to try to do less, live more, live better, breathe easier, reduce our stress, and take care of ourselves. Self-care is not optional! There are no bonus points in life for increasing the level of difficulty for ourselves or for not tending to our own needs. 4. Lisa mentioned this insightful quote by Sophia Bush: You are allowed to be a work in progress and a masterpiece simultaneously. I will bring you the next episode of Sharing Life Lessons next Wednesday. Until then, 'be happy, be safe and be blessed'.
