On our latest weekly roundup, what happened in Vegas didn't stay there, as Catherine reported on her recent trip. Mentioned: Omega Mart. What we're watching: We continued with season 2 of Reservation Dogs with episodes 5 and 6: "Wide Net" and "Decolonativization." We learned a little more about the aunties as they headed to an out-of-town conference, and an earnest pair of workshop presenters tried to help the teens learn more about themselves (without much success).Catherine's library find this week, Slug in Love by Rachel Bright with illustrations by Nadia Shireen, prompted mention of other slug and pug books (Slug Needs a Hug, Doug the Pug, Pig the Pug) as well as reminiscences about some other faves, like Room on the Broom and The Gruffalo, both written by Julia Donaldson and illustrated by Axel Scheffler. In the archives, we revisit episodes in which we discussed neverending household tasks (March 10, 2021); launching a young adult (March 7, 2019); and Girl Scout cookies (March 8, 2018). A correction: Last week, Catherine said she had learned of a Red Hot Chili Peppers concert scheduled for the afternoon. Turns out, the band in question was the Red Hot Chilli PIPERS, which makes a lot more sense (and frankly sounds a lot more fun).Next week, we'll watch the next two episodes of Reservation Dogs, season 2: E7 “Stay Gold Cheesy Boy" (which has been inducted into the Extra Hot Great Canon) and E8 “This Is Where the Plot Thickens.” Until then (and anytime you're in need), the archives are available.

The Interfaith Roundtable is sponsored by The Andrew K. Coffman Funeral Home and F&M Trust. This week Rabbi Mark sits down with Paula Myers to discuss Baháʼí Faith. Baháʼí is the unity of God, religion, and of all humanity. Ms. Myers explains that Baháʼí focuses on family in the home and being generous to all individuals. Paula even opens up her home (brownies included) to share the teachings. Even among interfaith discussing Baháʼí are taught not to ceaselessly argue with others. The second guest is Rachel Bright, a Naturopathic Doctor as well as a holistic tradition practitioner. Naturopaths not only seek to help patients get through their symptoms but also seek to find the source of the ailment and treat it from there. She explains how a naturopathic practitioner isn't shackled by an insurance company like traditional doctors are. She finds that the modern medical field breaks up the body into small parts (otolaryngologists, dermatologists, oncologists) whereas naturopathic medicine looks at the body as a whole. She relates the body to a symphony saying every part of the body has a role to play and if their role is off the body will falter. You can find out more information about the Hagerstown Area Religious Council at harccoalition.org. She had such a popular episode last year and we had so many questions about her topic that we knew we needed to have her back on to share her expertise on organizing. The new year brings with it the bug to get organized but it can be so hard to know where to start! We asked Rachel for her best tips and steps to organization. This episode gave us the motivation to get started and we hope you feel the same! Minimalism can feel like a buzzword that only the most committed can attain. Our guest today, Rachel Bright, made living a more simplified lifestyle seem like both a worthy goal and also a realistic one. Paris and I are both feeling inspired to clear out our excess in order to make room for calm, clean, and intentional time in our homes. Recommended Books: - Outer Order Inner Calm by Gretchen Rubin - The Joy of Less by Francine Jay - The Life Changing Magic of Tidying up & Spark Joy by Marie - Simplicity Parenting by Kim John Payne and Lisa Ross - The Montessori Toddler by Simone Davies Other tips not mentioned: - Rent or borrow when you can before you buy something! (Ex: power tools, library books, even clothing rental ) - It is easiest to do my closet after I've gotten something new that I loooove—this helps because I can compare all my other things to the new item -On Holidays start with your focus on the other senses first before you buy decor! Holiday candles/oils, food menu, music, etc. - One-in-one out! If I get a new toaster I'll donate the old one - It is important once you've finished to put systems in place so that others can maintain what you've done—like labels and clear categories You can see more of Rachel on Instagram @rachelmbright.
