Why Did I Get Cancer?

Today, we're talking about a topic that might make you squirm in your seat—parasites and worms! These creepy crawlies can hitch into our bodies through contaminated water, food, and less-than-sanitary conditions and wreak havoc. Now, I'll be the first to admit that when my guest Kim Rogers, also known as “The Worm Queen” of TikTok, reached out to me, I hesitated. Who wants to know about the creatures lurking inside us, right? But knowledge is power and if understanding more about parasites and worms could help me stay healthy, it's time for an uncomfortable conversation. We talked about the not-so-glamorous aspects of bodily functions—yes, that means we went into the topic of pooping quite a bit. But beyond the initial discomfort, Kim shares some invaluable insights into detox pathways and what she calls the three P's: peeing, perspiration, and, you guessed it, pooping. So, buckle up, folks. Let's learn all about these little buggers - and how to protect ourselves from them!  About Dr. Kim Rogers Kim Rogers AKA “The Worm Queen” journey reads like the tale of a true pioneer in holistic healing. With nearly two decades of experience in the allopathic medical field, Kim honed her skills and expertise, becoming a powerhouse in healthcare management, radiography, and medical specialties. Her academic prowess, including a Bachelor of Science with a focus on Health Services Management & HR, and an Associate of Occupational Studies with a major in Radiography and a minor in Psychology, marked her as a standout achiever. However, despite her extensive background and immersion in traditional medicine, Kim found herself at a crossroads when her health began to deteriorate despite the conventional approaches she knew so well. Her pivotal moment came with her first experience using Paraguard for a parasite cleanse, an event she openly documented on TikTok. The viral sensation that followed showcased her remarkable results and ignited a global movement of individuals seeking alternatives to the cyclical frustrations of mainstream medicine. Two years of rigorous research, experimentation, and personal cleansing experiences culminated in the creation of Parafy—a comprehensive protocol designed to offer individuals the most effective, supportive, and successful path to parasite cleansing. Kim's tireless dedication to uncovering holistic solutions and her unwavering commitment to educating and uplifting others have solidified her status as a trailblazer in the natural health and wellness community.  Connect With Kim Rogers Website  Instagram Facebook TikTok YouTube Disclaimer: Cleansing Exclusion While cleansing may offer benefits for many individuals, it's important to recognize that it's not suitable for everyone. Here's who should refrain from cleansing: Pregnant or Breastfeeding Individuals Children Under the Age of 3 Individuals Undergoing Chemotherapy Those Taking the Medication Coumadin (Warfarin) Before starting any cleansing regimen or making significant dietary changes, it's essential to consult with a qualified healthcare professional, especially if you fall into one of the above categories or have any underlying health conditions. Your healthcare provider can offer personalized guidance based on your individual health needs and circumstances. Kim Rogers' Method for Cleaning Produce: Ingredients: - 2 cups of vinegar - 2 tablespoons of sea salt - 1/2 lime - 1 gallon of distilled or filtered water Instructions: Combine 2 cups of vinegar and 2 tablespoons of sea salt. Squeeze the juice of 1/2 lime into the mixture. Add 1 gallon of distilled or filtered water to the container. Stir the mixture thoroughly to ensure the salt is dissolved and the ingredients are well combined. Submerge the produce in the solution and let it soak for 5 to 10 minutes. Optionally, use a Therasage bubbler to agitate the water gently and enhance the cleaning process. After soaking, rinse the produce thoroughly with fresh water before use. Parafy worm kit You're not alone if you've ever wondered what's lurking in your body! Kim Rogers struggled with parasites and worms for years, and now she's created the Parafy Kit—a powerful cleanse designed to help you take control of your health. In this episode, Jillian Inglis joins me to talk about understanding the connection between our mind, body and overall wellness, highlighting the impacts of burnout and pain within the body. I was so lucky to have the opportunity to work with Jillian, a manual osteopath and emotional release specialist, in helping her create two online learning experiences which we will talk about in this episode. We will also discuss what manual osteopathy actually is, the key role that teaching and learning play in the work that Jillian does, and what people might not be thinking about when it comes to causes of burnout.  Jillian has worked in various roles in the healthcare field for close to 15 years. She has completed a Bachelor's Degree in Health Science, a Diploma in Radiography, a Diploma in Manual Osteopathy, and countless certifications focusing on anatomy and physiology, tissue manipulations, energy work, emotional health and release, as well as Chinese medicine and acupuncture principles. She is passionate about sharing her knowledge and skills with people who want to take control of their healing on all levels: physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual. Jillian has built a successful practice by helping people understand how their unexpressed emotions and unresolved traumas could be affecting their overall health and wellbeing.    Listen in as we talk about: [2:45] How Jillian ended up becoming an osteopath [9:00] What does a manual osteopath do?  [14:50] Jillian shares an example of a patient transformation [19:55] How Jillian engages, connects with and teaches her clients [28:20] Symptoms and causes of burnout [33:05] Jillian's experience creating her courses [37:10] How does osteopathy compare to physiotherapy and chiropractic? [39:35] A more holistic view of pain: How can you tell where pain is coming from? [41:45] Jillian's favourite teacher [45:00] What Jillian is most proud of [49:05] Jillian answers some rapid fire questions   CAUSES OF BURNOUT AND BEING OUT OF ALIGNMENT “Busyness has become this badge of honor. Like if you're not busy, then maybe you're lazy on some level.” Jillian emphasizes the importance of understanding the underlying motivations behind one's busyness and hustle in order to avoid burnout. She points out that the notion of loving the hustle may often be a disguise for anxiety, urging people to be mindful of the purpose behind their constant activity. While acknowledging the benefits of hustle, she cautions against getting trapped in a cycle without a clear goal or purpose. Jillian stresses the significance of hustling towards one's highest good and being aware of the feelings driving the pursuit, such as respect or validation. She warns against falling into the "I'll be happy when" mentality tied to external achievements, as these may not necessarily provide the desired fulfillment. She also distinguishes between healthy hustle and havoc hustle. She describes healthy hustle as pouring energy into something that actively feeds back into an individual, allowing them to work long hours without feeling tired. On the other hand, havoc hustle involves expending energy on tasks that don't align with one's passions, leading to burnout and potential health issues. Jillian encourages listeners to recognize when they are in a state of healthy hustle by assessing whether their efforts are contributing positively to their well-being. By being attuned to the feelings driving their actions, people can avoid burnout and align their efforts with pursuits that truly nourish their souls.   HOW DOES OSTEOPATHY COMPARE TO PHYSIOTHERAPY AND CHIROPRACTIC? Jillian explains the distinctions between osteopathy, physiotherapy, and chiropractic care. Physiotherapy and chiropractic focus primarily on hands-on, physical aspects, addressing joint alignment, muscles, fascia, and the overall health of these tissues. In contrast, Jillian's approach in osteopathy extends beyond the physical by considering the interconnectivity of ...

You've heard it from us before on this podcast, but we'll say it again. AI is transforming our world.Depending on which market research you look at, AI in healthcare is already somewhere from a 14-21 billion dollar industry in 2023, which is almost double what it was worth just two years ago. By 2028, it's set to be a 100 billion dollar global industry, growing some 40% year-on-year. That's astonishing, even in the already skyrocketing AI sphere. In this episode, we'll be looking at a wide spectrum of expertise to get a sense of where the field is right now, what the future looks like, and some of the cool technologies which might fill it. We'll be looking at the ways in which AI is making healthcare more efficient, and overcoming roadblocks, as well as examining the ethics of letting algorithms influence human outcomes. We're joined in this episode by Mike Woodacre, Chief Technologist at Hewlett Packard Enterprise. He starts by spelling out the origins of this explosive growth during the COVID Pandemic, which ushered in a new world of collaboration and inter-disciplinary use of AI and High Performance Computing to look at new vaccine options, as well as examine scientific research looking for patterns. He urges caution, though, in relying on AI solutions which haven't been adequately trained in the locales they are being used in and so may not account for regional factors such as more or less common versions of a disease. That's something Andy Cachaldora, General Manager for Northern Europe at GE Healthcare, agrees with. They've seen an incredible expansion of AI tools not just in diagnostic machines, but also in making sure that every second of a healthcare professional's time is being used wisely. For him, AI is about taking out the grunt work and uncertainty from running clinics, giving better outcomes all round. Again, however, he urges caution in the way AIs are trained and implemented, with poor data collection and poor planning a route to disaster. The idea of good, global data sources to train AI is something that has inspired Joachim Schultze, professor of systems medicine from the German Centre for Neurodegenerative Medicine. In collaboration with HPE, he's been working on a blockchain-based system of machine learning tools to analyse Leukaemia scans, which keeps the data in-hospital to ensure data protection, but sends the insights of the scans to dozens of other institutes worldwide to train their own machine learning algorithms. That's ensuring that everyone's AI is collaboratively being trained on the widest, global dataset possible, with no risk to patient privacy. But where's the human in all this? Well, right at the centre of it all. After all, any AI requires training, and the training in most cases is still provided by human medical experts, for use by their peers down the line. And a fascinating new piece of research suggests that the reason AI imaging works so well is that the expertise of a dozen doctors looking at cases together – in clinic or when training Ais, are better than one. A kind of swarm intelligence or swarm learning experience. Rutwik Shah worked on the research at the Center for Intelligent Imaging, which found that by training with swarms of doctors, not only could inexperienced groups of junior doctors analyse scans more reliably than the best AI, they were as effective as groups of doctors with decades of experience. It's fascinating work, which could revolutionise the way AIs are trained and behave, as well as changing the way scans are analysed. It's a fascinating world. Come with us on the journey.Citations:00:57: https://www.apa.org/monitor/2022/01/special-burnout-stress01:55: https://www.marketsandmarkets.com/Market-Reports/artificial-intelligence-healthcare-market-54679303.html?gclid=CjwKCAjw5_GmBhBIEiwA5QSMxOR1CRaYz_g_dcLRAd1aJwxb3tbPBUYcQ0l9mrrtZsRv93yUzWkJTRoCruUQAvD_BwEhttps://www.statista.com/statistics/1334826/ai-in-healthcare-market-size-worldwide/06:19: https://www.bma.org.uk/advice-and-support/nhs-delivery-and-workforce/pressures/nhs-diagnostics-data-analysis#:~:text=There%20is%20not%20enough%20diagnostic%20staff%20in%20the%20NHS&text=According%20to%20the%20Royal%20College,11%2C370%20additional%20staff%20by%202025.30:28: https://www.nature.com/articles/s41598-021-90292-6

It's not entirely surprising that AI in healthcare is considered an enormous opportunity. Doctors and clinicians are overworked and stressed, and patients are expecting ever quicker and more effective diagnosis and treatment. It's a perfect opportunity to take some of the strain off the human, and a wide variety of AI-based solutions are developing everything from analyzing scans to setting up appointments and assisting ward rounds. Using AI to 'oil the machine' while respecting and amplifying human expertise is an exciting prospect, and seemingly an ideal case study for the current capabilities of AI. Dental Radiography:  Improving the Diagnostic Quality of Your RadiographsToday we are joined by Janet Simpson of DentalXrayCoach.com to discuss Dental Radiography, improving the diagnostic quality of your radiographs and much more!Obtaining quality radiographs would be easy if all our patients had big mouths, nice wide arches, high palettes, and straight teeth.  However, we often have crowded arches, malposed and rotated teeth, touching gag reflexes, pushy tongues, chubby cheeks, and patients who tend to be exasperated or uncooperative.   To make things even more difficult the wired sensors are smaller, harder, bulkier, more uncomfortable than film and black or dark blue.  To top it off dental assistants that have been trained on the job "learned" to take dental X-rays in one weekend.  They were never taught the secrets of shadow casting, or bisecting.   My mission is to help.   I've been a speaker, but would like to focus more of my attention to in person coaching. My co-worker Darlene is an RDAEF with over 40 years in dentistry.  She and I want to spend more time in dental offices coaching dental assistants in all aspects of their job.Janet Simpson, is a registered dental assistant in San Diego California.  She began her career in 1989 working in general and pediatric dental offices, but found her niche in education.  Currently, she is a speaker, consultant and owner of Dental Fundamentals Continuing Education.   she enjoys her roles as dental assistant, dental assisting instructor, clinic coordinator, and team trainer.  She has presented "Rad Refresher" at the California Dental Association CDA presents multiple times, as well as smaller meetings and various study clubs.  She is also an experienced trainer in regulatory compliance and California infection control requirements.   Mrs. Simpson's vision for her training company, Dental Fundamentals C.E., is to study challenges, uncover solutions, and connect the learner to increased knowledge and skill.  Because over 50% of  all the dental assistants in the state of California have been trained on the job, providing access to quality education is one of her highest objectives.  Her goal is to provide access to information that many training programs did not have time to present and to remove the barriers to professional growth.   Janet has been recognized as an exemplary online instructor by San Diego Mesa College where she worked as an adjunct instructor for 5 years.   Her online courses can be found at www.dentalxraycoach.comJanet is passionate about supporting the underserved.  She enjoys her work as Clinic Coordinator of Cura Smiles Dental Clinic, where she facilitates volunteers providing pro bono oral healthcare to those in need in the heart of San Diego.   Cura Smiles was recognized as Oral Health Champion for San Diego County in 2021. Want to learn more about Dental X-ray Coach?Visit: www.DentalXrayCoach.comWant to Listen to all of The Dental Brief Episodes?Visit:  www.dentalbrief.comOur Sponsor: OmniPremier.com

On this special 4 segment episode of A Life in Ruins Podcast, we are lucky to be joined Trevor Creighton, a project archaeologist at Butser Ancient Farm. Butser Ancient Farm is a not-for-profit Community Interest Company with a focus on education and research, located just north of Portsmouth in the UK. They have a series of buildings at the farm, which are constructed based on evidence from archaeological excavations. They test theories about the technologies, building techniques and ways of life of ancient people by reconstructing parts of their homes and lives. They have constructed buildings from the Stone Age, the Bronze Age, the Iron Age, the Roman period in Britain and a house from the Anglo-Saxon era. Trevor explained his very interesting journey from doing Radiography to getting an M.A. in Visual Arts and eventually getting an M.A. in Archaeology from the University of Leicester. He then delves into the history of Butser Ancient Farm, what they do and what time periods are represented. We then discuss more broadly about experimental archaeology and experiential archaeology. We finish off by discussing if their is an equivalent to Butser Farm in North America. Butser Plus is a way you can view how the folks at Butser Ancient Farm explore the ancient past. Butser Plus contains behind-the-scenes mini documentaries of the farm. Go check it out for a remote way to observe experimental archaeology. Check out the Video ---> Spatial Resolution: https://youtu.be/_rtqLdWvK2IMatt helps to describe the concept of spatial resolution in MRI terms. In MRI, spatial resolution is defined by the size of the imaging voxels. Since voxels are three-dimensional rectangular solids, the resolution is frequently different in the three different directions. The size of the voxel and therefore the resolution depends on matrix size, the field-of-view, and the slice thickness.Resolution is the ability of the human eyes to distinguish one structure from another. In MRI the resolution is determined by the number of pixels in a specified FOV. The higher the image resolution, the better the small pathologies can be diagnosed. Resolution is directly proportional to the number of pixels (The higher the number of pixels the greater the resolution). The pixel size can be calculated by dividing the field of view by the matrix size Thanks for joining us here in Zone 3!  Make sure to Like and Subscribe.  Links from Episode Discussion:Philips Healthcare innovation -- https://youtu.be/Z7d9xadr3VMPsychology of the workplace -- https://youtu.be/iJ2uFGyEakkAbout our Guest:Matt is the President of RITE Advantage LLC.  A company focused on educating and testing MRI, CT, Sonography, and Radiography students and technologists. The COVID-19 pandemic has significantly impacted clinical radiography educational activities, including teaching, research, and clinical placement, globally. Like most other countries across the globe, countries across the African continent were well affected by the lockdown measures introduced by governments to slow the spread of the pandemic. This episode explores some of the disruptions to clinical radiography caused by the COVID19 restrictions and offers suggestions to avert future impact. We are privileged to have an excellent guest discuss the topic with us. Dr Theophilus(Theo) Akudjedu is the programme coordinator for the MSc Medical Imaging with Management Programme and a senior lecturer in medical imaging at the Institute of Medical Imaging and Visualisation, Bournemouth University. He holds an honorary diagnostic radiographer post with the University Hospitals Dorset (England). As a clinical academic diagnostic radiographer, Theo's research interests relate mostly to clinical neuroimaging (MRI), radiography, healthcare research, and workforce development. Before his postgraduate studies, Theo worked clinically as a diagnostic radiographer in some of Ghana's busiest urban and rural hospitals. To find out more about the topic, read the research by Dr Theo and colleagues below: https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC8603034/
