Acetaminophen is widely available over the counter in the United States, increasing the risk of overdose (both acute and chronic). Several factors contribute to the complexity of managing this tricky condition in the emergency department, but until recently, there has been no true standardized approach. Atrial fibrillation can be a tricky thing to manage in the ED. Sometimes it is not always clear if you should treat it, how you should treat it, or if it's even safe to treat. Nikki Alberti, DO is a second-year resident physician in Emergency Medicine & Internal Medicine at the University of Illinois Chicago. She is from a small town in upstate New York, which is where she did undergrad. She then received her MPH from UVM and went to medical school in Philadelphia, which is where her spark for social justice, and thus unionization, was ignited.
