If you're dating and wondering when to approach the conversation about finances, you're going to want to listen closely to this episode. Understanding and managing financial issues within a relationship are crucial to maintaining financial safety and equity. Some examples of how money issues contribute to conflict in relationships: When partners have differing financial priorities or habits—such as one being a spender and the other a saver—these can create significant stress in the relationship. Stress from debt, insufficient income, or unemployment can strain a relationship to the breaking point. Financial inequality within a relationship, where one partner has much more control over finances than the other, can also lead to discord. Financial infidelity, which involves hiding debt, expenditures, or savings, can erode trust just as deeply as other forms of infidelity. And because women and non-men earn on average less than men and are more frequently the victims of financial abuse, it's critical that we bring the conversation of money to the table early and with our financial needs and desires clearly outlined. There's no better person to talk about this with than Jay Asooli. Jay is a Relationship Educator, Expert and Coach specializing in helping women/non-men experience secure, equitable and deeply satisfying long term relationships. She has additional experience in somatic burnout recovery and has helped women/non-men recover from divorce, break-ups and financial abuse. In this episode we dive into: -Red and green financial flags to spot in the first few months of dating -How intersectionality (race, gender) factors into establishing healthy and equitable financial foundations -The pitfalls of making love more important than money  -When to start the conversation over money with specific follow up questions that helps you fact check a potential partner's value system,  -Get ready to learn how to assess a financially healthy partner and create financial safety in your relationship. How can we still feel the joy in marriage despite the disagreements? To help me answer these questions, I brought in Erin and Stephen Mitchell. They are a couple who has been married for 13 years. Sherry and Carla kick off this week’s episode talking about embracing their weird quirks, and then take a Love Fix question on how long getting over a breakup really takes. Then, they welcome Kelsey Grant, Love, Intimacy, and Relationship Educator. Kelsey writes, speaks and teaches men and women the art of accessing greater alignment with themselves, one another and the essence of true love. Through The Legendary Love Academy and her podcast the Pleasure Portal, Kelsey has a wealth of wisdom to share about mismatched libidos, trusting your gut, and little ways to begin to cultivate appreciation for yourself and your partner.    What You’ll Hear In This Episode:   Sherry and Carla embrace their weird quirks, and know that our quirks tend to show up and bother us even more when we are stressed.   What is the average time to get over someone? Is it bad if we are still hung up on our ex months, or even years later?  Sherry and Carla’s advice on how to not only look back on your relationship with rose colored glasses.  Be gentle with yourself and allow time to heal during a break up.  Kelsey knew there was a need for more open conversations about sex based on her own interests and what she and her friends would always end up talking about.  Kelsey’s tips on cultivating a culture of appreciation in your relationship.  Desire is not all about physically wanting someone, it is a by-product of trust and openness.  How our family system plays a role in the dynamic we tend to seek out with our partners.  How we can begin to resentizie our body and get in touch with our intuition so we stop gaslighting ourselves and can see any potential red flags.  What does it mean if your partner’s libido doesn’t seem to match yours, and what does Kelsey think may be missing if you find yourself with what feels like almost too much sexual energy?  Resources to sign up for Kelsey’s Mutually Met Program, along with ways to work with  Sherry and Carla on overcoming codependency and gaining confidence. Advice on navigating your needs with your partner that are rooted in you feeling confident about what you want and deserve.    Tweetables: “We always embellish the last relationship.” - Sherry  “Loneliness makes us do crazy things.” - Sherry “Most of the time we want to be good to each other, but we don’t often know how.” - Kelsey  “At the end of the day, your gut is always on point.” - Carla  “Creativity and sex energy, are literally the same thing.” - Kelsey    Connect with Us!   The Love Fix | @thelovefixpodcast Wake up Recovery for Codependency, Love Addiction, and Toxic Relationships — $1 trial membership The Love Fix Relationship Quiz     Get professional online counseling with BetterHelp by clicking here. Race and racism has been at the forefront of the media for the last year. You can't avoid it, and we shouldn't.  However.... as Christians - we do have a different perspective and walk with a different understanding knowing that Christ loves and died for every single person regardless of the color of their skin. In this episode, Kelsey Grant and I touch on a super important topic of women who don't acknowledge and allow themselves to feel angry and to process anger effectively. So often we're walking around this planet with so much suppressed anger, rage and emotion. That stuff needs to be cleared and processed because it's not good, it's not bad, it's just emotion information. Once we allow ourselves to clear that, we get to experience those higher vibrating emotions of bliss, freedom and liberation in our bodies. About Kelsey Grant: Kelsey Grant is a Love and Relationship Educator who runs an organization designed to help men understand women and women understand men. Do you follow your "Yes?"Following your "Yes" is about you taking a step forward in your partnerships by taking action and applying at least one thing you heard from our guests during their interviews this week. On today’s episode, all of this week’s guests have generously provided BONUS MATERIAL, not included in the interviews you listened to earlier this week. Each one has provided incredible examples of the power of following your “Yes”.  Enjoy! Susan CampbellNot Following - When Susan was 21 years old she was having guidance to do more than just marry her high school sweetheart. And she had this impulse to follow these impulsed, but all of her friends were getting married. She was also getting guidance not to marry her fiancee. And when she spoke to her parents about it they said whatever she wanted they were fine with. And her girlfriends told her it was just cold feet. And she listened to her girlfriends and went ahead and got married. Ultimately it ended up in divorce 5 years later. Following - Susan was one of the only women on the faculty at the University of Massachusetts and all of her female colleagues envied her this incredible job. She found a book in a garbage can that was a guide book for visiting San Francisco. So she visited San Francisco on her next school holiday and fell in love with the city and decided California was the place for her. Susan quit her job and moved to California with no job and people thought she was crazy. But she has never looked back and has been so happy with her decision from day one. Listen to Susan's full interview here (https://speakingofpartnership.com/094-susan-campbell/) Connect with Susan - Susan's website (http://susancampbell.com) Susan’s Facebook Link (https://www.facebook.com/drsusan99) Kelsey GrantNot Following - Recently Kelsey and her partner had to move and they found their dream apartment, but her intuition was saying “there is something not right here.” But is was such a huge space and so beautiful that she disregarded her “Yes.” About a month after they moved in, they got an infestation of Pantry Moths and they had to throw everything out. Thirty days after that, their apartment flooded. And for six months they lived in a construction zone while this was repaired. Not at all the space they fell in love with. None of this was good for their relationship or their health and wellbeing. In hind sight Kelsey knows that if she had listened to her “Yes” it would have been a much better choice. Following - In 2008 Kelsey got an intuitive hit that she needed to move out of the city she lived in.  She had always been drawn to Vancouver. Even though she did not know anyone in Vancouver and there was no logical reason to move there, she picked a date and committed to making this move. Once she arrived, she met a group of people who became essential building blocks for her life as she knows it now. They turned out to be her family and the community she had always been looking for. And a few months later she started her career as a Love and Relationship Educator. All because she followed her “Yes.” Listen to Kelsey's full interview here (https://speakingofpartnership.com/095-kelsey-grant/) Connect with Kelsey - Kelsey's website (http://www.kelseygrant.com) Kelsey’s Facebook Link (https://www.facebook.com/RadicalSelfLove/) Kelsey’s Twitter Link (https://twitter.com/RadSelfLove) Kelsey’s Instagram (https://www.instagram.com/radicalselflove/) (https://speakingofpartnership.com/096-follow-your-yes-friday-27/)

Speaking of Partnership: Personal Stories of the Power and Payoffs of Partnership

Kelsey Grant is passionate about living in a world where people feel inspired, fulfilled, balanced and happy within the expansiveness of their intimate relationships. As a Love and Relationship Educator rooted in Radical Self Love Methodology, she writes, speaks and teaches coaches, thought leaders and game changers how to access greater alignment with love for their leadership and relationships to thrive. Her commitment to love runs deep as she is also the founder and facilitator of a local sisterhood circle that creates safe space for women to open their hearts and share what is really going on behind the scenes of their lives. Currently, she is teaching the essential tools we "don't know we don't know" about love and partnership that are key foundations to creating and maintaining relationships that really work. Guiding Principle, Quote or Mantra What would love do? Whenever she is down in the dumps or spinning into a darker place, she comes back to this question:  What would love do?  What would love say?  How would love handle this? This helps ground Kelsey back into her heart. It creates a little bit of space between the thought and the action. Which gives her time to make a better choice. When You Tripped Up Early on in a recent relationship Kelsey had, she got tripped up on her jealousy and insecurity. One woman in particular had come into their lives and she felt incredibly threatened by. Here old mechanisms of handling jealously started to rise up instead of asking “what would love do?” she operated on auto pilot and got reactive. This left no space for the truth to emerge. This approach eventually led to the relationships coming to an end temporarily. The “DUH” moment that changed your partnerships forever One of Kelsey’s big DUH moments was when she realized that she was depending on her partner to give her pieces of her self esteem back. And looking to him for approval and validation. She started asking herself, who was it she needed recognition from? The first answer she got was herself. As uncomfortable as this was, Kelsey gave herself a 30 day challenge of owning every day what she did that was self loving and how she had cared for herself that day. And she did it on Facebook to hold herself accountable by making it public. This helped her move past the resistance she had to being seen and being recognized. The second place she was seeking recognition was from her father. So Kelsey called up her Dad and said “I really need to know that you’re proud of me.” This is the first time she had been courageous enough to ask him. Once she asked for what she needed, he was able to provide it. And this was so nourishing to her. Proudest moment in partnership  When Kelsey and her partner have authentic and really heart opening conversations she always feels proud. The acceptance of who he is fully creates the space for him to do the same for her. Being seen and accepted deeply are some of the proudest moments of her partnership. What is the best partnership / relationship advice you have ever received? Approach your relationship as a path and not a destination. This allows you to meet whatever arrises on your journey with curiosity and love and compassion. Then you can use your partnership as a vessel for personal development both independently and as a couple. If you see it as a path that is ever evolving and ever expanding this creates a lot of space for acceptance.
