In this episode of the Defence Connect Podcast, Renee Wilson joins host Phil Tarrant to announce the rebrand of War Widows NSW to the Families of Veterans Guild, a rebranded organisation which aims to support all family members of veterans. The podcast begins by detailing the reason behind the rebrand and how the organisation will support all family members of veterans who have quietly served behind ADF members. Wilson then details the background of War Widows NSW and how the newly rebranded Families of Veterans Guild is rising to the challenge to fill the gaps between existing veterans' organisations, by supporting family members of veterans who may not meet stringent eligibility criteria. The pair then unpack how the Families of Veterans Guild differs from existing veterans' groups and how the guild will play a role alongside other veterans' organisations to help serve former ADF members and their families.   Enjoy the podcast, The Defence Connect team

Alex Lloyd hosts a panel on the veteran suicide crisis, with Wes ‘H' Hennessey and Renee Wilson. Life on the Line tracks down Australian military veterans and records their stories. On 11 August 2022, the Interim Report of the Royal Commission into Defence and Veteran Suicide was submitted to the Governor-General, and then to Parliament. While this podcast sees itself as a veterans storytelling platform first and foremost, topics as exceptional as this are an ongoing part of the stories of veterans and families around the country. As a nation, we've lost more veterans to suicide than we did to combat in the Afghanistan and Iraq wars. This Royal Commission was something tirelessly campaigned for by veterans and families, so this interim report is an important measure of whether it's achieving what so many wanted it to. To discuss the interim report, host Alex Lloyd welcomed back two previous guests. Wes ‘H' Hennessey is veteran of the 2nd Commando Regiment, a deeply experienced and well-decorated soldier after many combat deployments to Afghanistan. Renee Wilson is the CEO of Australian War Widows NSW, an ambassador for the Commando Welfare Trust, and is a staunch advocate for veterans and their families. On November 11th, 1982, 20-year-old Kathy Mae Goad took the day off work to run some errands in the Fort Worth, Texas suburb of Hurst. She never made it back to the east Fort Worth home she shared with her husband, who reported her missing that evening. The Fort Worth Police believed that Kathy had simply left her husband and more or less refused to investigate the case. But authorities in her Kentucky hometown felt very differently. They sent one of their best detectives to Texas to investigate. In the first two days of Commonwealth of Kentucky Attorney's Detective Glen Wood's visit, he uncovered information that strongly pointed to a suspect in Kathy Goad's disappearance. Twelve years after Kathy went missing, a mysterious letter sent to FWPD attempted to connect her case with one of the city's most talked about mysteries – the Fort Worth Missing Trio. On the morning of December 23, 1974, Lisa Renee Wilson, 14, Julie Ann Moseley, 9, and Mary Rachel Trlica, 17, travelled to the Seminary South Shopping Center in Fort Worth, Texas to do some shopping. Julie was the sister of Renee's boyfriend, Terry Moseley.Rachel and Renee had initially planned to go shopping with Terry, but he had made other plans. Julie wanted to go along with them, but was told she needed permission from her mother. She was able to get permission, but was told she needed to be home by 6:00pm. Renee was excited about attending a Christmas party that evening with Terry and wanted to be home early to get ready. At 12:00pm, the girls visited the local Army/Navy surplus store to get some jeans Renee had on layaway. They then drove to the shopping center and parked near Sears .Witnesses would later claim they'd seen the girls inside the mall throughout the afternoon. However, it's never been confirmed. Keep in mind this was the 70s. Most young girls had long straight hair. And since it was Christmas time, the mall would be full of teenagers out for Christmas break. Rachel's Oldsmobile was found in the parking lot around 6:00pm. It was locked, and there was single present on the backseat floorboard. However, there was no trace of the girls or any indications of a struggle. Nearly five decades later, no one has ever seen the girls again. ***Opening audio courtesy of WFAA.comPlease also visit my website for more information about my true crime and paranormal newspaper columns at www.themarcabe.com. When Private Investigator Dan James came on the case in the mid-1990s, he was continuing work he'd already been doing in his spare time since Rachel Trlica, Renee Wilson, and Julie Moseley disappeared on December 23rd, 1974. When reviewing the report he sent to the Fort Worth Police, it's sometimes difficult to know exactly what the PI was reporting. Perhaps some of it was information only the cops would comprehend. However, a few of the leads James dug up are interesting, particularly the individual whose house Renee's father, Richard Wilson, headed to almost immediately upon discovering the girls were nowhere to be found. On December 24th, 1974, the day following the disappearances of 17-year-old Rachel Trlica, 14-year-old Renee Wilson, and 9-year-old Julie Moseley – Rachel's husband received a letter in the mailbox. The letter claimed to be from Rachel and said that the missing girls had gone to Houston to, quote, “get away.” They'd be back in a week, it said. Contrary to what the police initially thought, no one in the families believed the young newlywed had written the note – let alone that the three girls who were so eager for the upcoming Holiday ran off and would miss it. The public got a hold of the letter decades later and speculation and rumor mounted. In 2017, a forensic handwriting expert weighed in with her professional opinion. Women’s Wealth is growing faster than Men’s. As women and the next generation rise in financial power, Women will fundamentally change the meaning of legacy. Wealth is different from income – Like a balance sheet, wealth is the measure of a household’s assets – cash savings, stocks, bonds, and home, business and real estate equity – minus their liabilities, such as mortgage and credit card debt. Wealth – or financial assets – is a store of resources that women and families can tap into during emergencies. It provides a nest egg that can be leveraged into investments, like a home or a business and can be passed onto future generations.Building women’s economic security and closing the wealth gender wealth gap is imperative because the economic security of women is not just about women – it’s about the prosperity of children, families, communities, and the national economy. Women’s ability to earn, save and invest plays a critical role of the wells-being of their children, the strength of their communities and the economic prosperity of our nation. Certainly, we can’t not forget about policies and practical solutions that build wealth for not only low-income women and women of color, but all women. Wage disparities, employment segregation, and caregiving burdens are key drivers of gender income and wealth inequality. Women have lower levels of financial knowledge than men. Women-owned businesses are going in number, but most produce minimal wealth for their owners. Lower-income women and women of color are unlikely to benefit from savings and investment incentives offered throughout the U.S. Tax Code. Many women are trapped in a cycle of debt that undermines their capacity to build wealth.Women – as singles, mothers, wives, or widows – need access to a full continuum of opportunities to save, invest and preserve financial assets so they can build a better future for themselves and their families. They need access to financial education and coaching, coupled with affordable and appropriate savings and credit building products, at key times in their lives. These are some of the reasons Equity Movement Enterprises, Inc. and Women’s Inflection Point launched the System entitled Women Acquiring Assets (WAA) to teach women the stepping stones to homeownership, investment properties, investment clubs, retirement planning, insurance and to learn about savings and stocks, etc. while guiding them in the right direction to grow their net worth say’s C. Renee Wilson. To do that I knew I needed to identify a partner that was compassionate, personal experiences resulted in her true understanding of finances, has a heart to serve others, genuine and is the most unselfish connector I know, that person was none other than Ms. Anika Jackson. Please be sure you read her first article which is the Cover Story in this Edition from the first word to the last. I know you will find it inspiring. Welcome to Women Acquiring Assets and join us on Facebook: @womeninflectionpoint. To advance women overall in financial wellness, C. On December 23, 1974 three girls - Rachel Trlica (17 years old), Renee Wilson (14 years old), and Julie Moseley (9 years old) - disappeared from the Seminary South Shopping Center in Fort Worth, Texas. That morning Rachel asked her friend Renee to go to the mall with her to run some last minute holiday errands. As the teenage girls were getting ready to leave, Renee’s neighbor, 9 year old Julie Mosely, asked to tag along. The girls were supposed to return home around 4 pm. That evening, when no one had seen or heard from them, their families went to the mall. There was no sign of the girls, however the car they were driving, a 1972 Oldsmobile, was still in the mall parking lot. Several witnesses confirmed seeing the girls at the mall that day but didn’t report anything out of the ordinary. Initially, the police did not suspect any foul play and believed the trio had runaway.Dana Pioll, librarian and writer, is the co-host of this episode. Seventeen year old Rachel Trlica of Fort Worth, Texas, wanted to do some last minute Christmas shopping. Her best friend, fourteen year old Renee Wilson went with her, and nine year old Julie Ann Moseley, a friend of Renee's, tagged along. On December 23rd, 1974, the three girls made their trip to the mall and never returned, disappearing into thin air. The girls would famously become known as The Fort Worth Three. The next day, a letter would arrive allegedly written by Rachel, claiming that the girls has taken a week long trip to Houston. Strangely, the letter doesn't match Rachel's handwriting, and no one believes she is the one who wrote it. Over the next forty years, multiple theories and suspects would be considering, including Rachel's own sister, Debra. Rachel's brother, Rusty, would devote his life to finding his sister and through a series of twists and turns, would turn against Debra. Several serial killers and rapists were in Texas at the time, and many believe one of them was responsible. Rumors of a security guard being seen with the girls have led to a belief that they were abducted by someone pretending to have their safety in mind. Join host Steven Pacheco as he explores this case, and studies the unanswerable question: What happened to the Fort Worth Three? Our Women and Sexual Empowerment series continues with a look at a new play that’s arousing interests, “The V Monologues: A Black Woman’s Interpretation.” Tracie Collins is the show’s writer, director and producer. It is derived from Eve Ensler’s groundbreaking production “The Vagina Monologues.” Tracie has worked in theater most of her life and and produced a number of shows. This is her first time in the director’s chair.  You can see “The V Monolgues” this Saturday, October 19th at the Malonga Casquelord Theater in Oakland, Calif. I spoke with Tracie, a charming actress from the play named Renee Wilson; and the play’s narrator—retired San Francisco news anchor Dana King. That conversation got real and I loved every second of it.   Now let’s talk about vaginas…  FYI: This podcast is no suitable for the kids.
