Good day, everybody. Today is May 30th. This is now Bryan from quantlabsnet.com. Our platform is transitioning to a new web domain, and the previous one will be phased out within the next 30 days. Let's dive into an insightful article from Bettersystemtrader.com titled, A New Approach to Trading Volatility with Rob Hanna. The article highlights the inverse relationship between the VIX and the S&P 500, and how traders can use VIX signals to time their trades on the S&P 500. Interestingly, a similar inverse relationship exists between Bitcoin and the US dollar, providing another avenue for trading strategies. Another key point is that using the S&P 500 to time its own trades can be more effective than relying on the VIX. The article suggests that short-term indicators for the S&P 500 are better predictors of VIX movements. Additionally, traders might find value in using the S&P 500 to time the VIX, potentially reducing the length of drawdowns. For a deeper understanding, the article includes video clips explaining these concepts. If you're into algo trading, these insights could be particularly beneficial. "I Like My Dogs In Any Fight" Join us for an exclusive interview with Coach Rob Hanna, Head Coach of the Hampton County Hurricanes, as he shares insights into the team's remarkable season.
The shock of his first major losing year in 2004 as a discretionary trader, propelled Rob Hanna to find quantifiable statistical advantages that would help mitigate the fluctuations in his equity curves. Knowing the dangers of curve fitting, in trying to find that ‘perfect' system, Rob zeroed in on simpler approaches that would combine seasonality, overbought, oversold and Federal Reserve days. The result is a system that helps minimize anxiety and drawdowns while keeping him invested for the bulk of bullish moves. Rob Hanna's Bio: Rob is a Registered Investment Adviser Representative for Capital Advisors 360. He has worked as a full-time market professional since 2001. Prior to joining CA360, Rob managed his own private investment fund from 2001–2019 and has also run Quantifiable Edges since 2008. Quantifiable Edges offers a subscriber letter and other services focused on quantitative market analysis. Over the years, Rob has spoken at major conferences for the Market Technicians Association (MTA), the National Association of Active Investment Managers (NAAIM), and the American Association of Professional Technical Analysts (AAPTA) among others. If you're not on social media these days, you're living in the dark ages, aren't you? Some say that the legal industry is a sector that still very much lives in the past and has a long way to go. Certainly from conversations we've had with previous guests, many people in the legal sector still shy away from using social media either from a professional or personal perspective. Well, not this week's guest! We've been chatting to Legal Industry Consultant, Chad Aboud. Chad is the Board Director for Community Music Schools of Toronto. He is previously a General Counsel at AudienceView and was responsible for leading the legal function for an international portfolio of tech companies. Misconceptions, fear and lack of knowledge are common words we associate with the future of technology and even more so about artificial intelligence but should we be optimistic about the direction of AI and the purpose it can serve in law enforcement? This week we're chatting to Warren Distinguished Professor of Law and Director of the Center for Employment and Labour Policy at the University of San Diego, Orly Lobel. It is still a common misconception that you must have attended University and completed your LPC to be able to guarantee a job in law. There is no doubt that this may be the easiest route into the legal sector but it's not the ONLY way and this week's guest is telling us how she managed to become a Legal Executive via a different route...Gemma Adams works as a Legal Executive specialising in criminal law. It was not until 2011, when she obtained a role as a Legal Secretary, that she was ''bitten by the criminal law bug''. She studied part-time at University, whilst working and raising her daughter, graduating in 2017. She then went on to enrol at CILEX Law School, completing further studies and graduating as a Chartered Legal Executive in 2022.This year, Gemma obtained her rights of audience and she is now ''on her feet'' in Court, as well as now being able to attend to clients at the police station.Alongside Gemma's busy career, she is also the Founder and Director of Women in Law Kent. Her mission is to build a community for women to empower, support and connect women in the local area.
The legal sector is wide in its variety; from private client to blockchain and to property, family and criminal - they're all equally exciting in their own right but how often are we able to dive deep into the day-to-day life of a solicitor acting in arguably one of the 'juiciest' areas of law?The term "white-collar crime" refers to a financially motivated, nonviolent or non-directly violent crime committed by individuals, businesses and government professionals and this week, we're chatting to white-collar crime defence lawyer, Tim Harris.Tim trained as a solicitor at Eversheds, before specialising in business and white-collar crime in the financial services sector, at Bark & Co Solicitors and then Simmons & Simmons. While at Simmons, Tim was a legal secondee at the Bank of America Merrill Lynch. Now, he is a counsel at Cohen & Gresser LLP, focusing on international and regulatory investigations, regulatory enforcement and financial crime compliance.
How DO you become well-known in the legal space for providing expert insights into how Associates can internationalise their legal careers?
