“More than 50 percent of Americans are metabolically unhealthy,” says Mollie Engelhart, a regenerative farmer and entrepreneur.Engelhart made the difficult decision to uproot her life in California due to heavy regulations and fallout from COVID-19 restrictions. She has since restarted from scratch in Texas.“All of our food comes from these industrial systems that has been sterilized, and we're not replenishing our microbiology when we're eating the foods of the current systems,” she says.“This is not a future crisis that we need to talk about ... this is happening right now.”In this episode, we'll take an in-depth tour of the Sovereignty Ranch and learn why Engelhart believes regenerative agriculture is the best way forward for humans, animals, and the planet.“We can't just depend on rice from China, and wheat from Ukraine, and lentils from Africa,” she says. Having these hubs that are growing food for the community—that is real resilience, and that is real security. And that is what I want to bring back.”Views expressed in this video are opinions of the host and the guest, and do not necessarily reflect the views of The Epoch Times
State Democrats are facing a split on whether or not President Joe Biden should stay in the presidential race after his poor performance in a debate against Donald Trump. U.S. Rep. Angie Craig tweeted over the weekend that Biden should “step aside for the next generation of leadership.” She is one of five House Democrats in the country to call on President Biden to step aside. Still other Minnesota politicians like Gov. Tim Walz have doubled down on their support for Biden, insisting it is too late to change candidates. Democrats will make their decision at the national convention which starts on Aug. 19. Dan Engelhart is one of the handful of uncommitted delegates to the DNC from Minnesota's fifth congressional district, and David Schultz is a professor of political science at Hamline University. They joined MPR News host Cathy Wurzer; Engelhart shared why he remains uncommitted, and Schultz provided context on the controversy of Biden's candidacy.
Furious vegans shut down an LA restaurant in protest over its decision to drop its plant-based menu in favor of meat and dairy dishes. Angry demonstrators swarmed on Sage Regenerative Kitchen & Brewery in Echo Park on Father's Day and were so disruptive the premises was forced to close. The protest came after chef Molly Engelhart announced her decision to move away from a solely vegan menu. The mob threw fake blood and daubed 'Chef Molly killer' outside the restaurant during the tense standoff. 'These people came inside of my restaurant, harassed my customers, my employees, vandalized my restaurant and openly said they'd like to put me out of business,' Engelhart told Fox Digital. --- Send in a voice message: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/darien-dunstan3/message

Join me for a look at the life of Engelhart and Helen Ostby, father-and-daughter jewelers who boarded Titanic in First Class. Until recently, I had no idea that such a crucial figure in Edwardian fashion and design was a passenger or that he trained his daughter in the business by traversing Europe, a fairly modern and feminist concept. The Ostby story is one of immigration, one of innovation, and their rings remain part of our aesthetic today. This is random and beautiful Titanica at its finest! Also, for Anderson Cooper's new book, which I mention, please consider purchasing through my Bookshop link below!Support the showSupport Unsinkable on Patreon for as little as $1/month: https://www.patreon.com/unsinkablepodOr buy me a coffee!: https://www.buymeacoffee.com/labeadlesBuy Unsinkable shirts here!: https://www.bonfire.com/unsinkable-the-first-t-shirt/Support the pod via my Bookshop Storefront: https://bookshop.org/shop/unsinkablepodFind me on Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/unsinkablepod/Website: https://www.unsinkablepod.com
“I'm a vegan restaurant owner, an organic farmer—a true environmentalist that cares about the soil, the water, and the air. I employ 350 people. I feel like I should be exactly what California wants … But I literally can't make payroll,” says Mollie Engelhart.A chef, entrepreneur, and regenerative farmer, Ms. Engelhart built an incredible farm-to-table business in California that had eleven years of year-over-year growth before the pandemic. But California's policies ultimately strangled her business, she says. Now, she's giving it all up to start from scratch in Texas.

“The foundation of all that we are is food and water." -Mollie Engelhart We're used to the idea that we live in a time for sustainability. While "sustainable" agriculture has certainly played its part in making us more aware of the impact of our actions on the environment, it hasn't done much to actually improve the situation. And with climate change getting worse every day, it's clear that something needs to change. We need to stop obsessing over how much food we grow and start paying attention to how much food we regenerate. Regenerative agriculture can strengthen our food system beyond the "sustainable" level and help us fulfill our role as stewards of the land. In this episode, Justine sits with Mollie Engelhart, the Executive Chef at Sage Plant Based Bistro and Brewery. Working in the kitchen for so long has helped Mollie to see how much food waste is affecting the environment. Although she was doing her part to solve this, she knew she can do more. That's when Sow a Heart was born, an organic farm that focuses on regenerative agriculture. All the food waste from their restaurants and others were brought to the farm to help regenerate soil health, in turn, giving them more nutrient-dense produce. But the farm was not only used to grow crops, Mollie's heart also inclined her to build a sanctuary for rescued animals. Listen in as Justine and Mollie talk about how much greenhouse gas is produced from food waste, how regenerative farming is helping the environment and humans thrive, the qualities of a successful entrepreneur, why we should not be afraid to fail, and how much work is needed to succeed. Meet Mollie: Plant-based Chef, Mollie Engelhart and her husband own Sow a Heart, a 17-acre organic farm that supports regenerative agriculture and takes care of rescue animals. Besides running farm operations, Mollie and her husband also manage their plant-based restaurant, Sage Plant Based Bistro and Brewery. Mollie is also a board member of Kiss the Ground, the award-winning producer of “May I Be Frank”, a freedom fighter, and a mother of 3. Conservation Easements with MICHAEL ENGELHART With Joe Biden's recent initiative to conserve nearly a third of US land by 2030, conservations easements have come back into the headlines. According to the NCED Database, a conservation easement is a voluntary, legal agreement that permanently limits uses of the land in order to protect its conservation values. Also known as a conservation restriction or conservation agreement, a conservation easement is one option to protect a property for future generations. The government has supported the logic that donating productive land for environmental purposes is a worthy cause. As a result, many taxable benefits can accrue to the donor. However, the conservation easement is also rooted in controversy (and deep IRS scrutiny). Unscrupulous promoters have focused on the conservation easement and used unrealistic and unsupported valuations to sell these transactions tax breaks to high earners who are usually unrelated to the actual land. But has this IRS scrutiny killed the conservation easement? Is there room for a transaction with such a beneficial purpose? To help us understand the current state of conservation easements, I spoke with MICHAEL ENGELHART. Based in Stamford, CT, Michael's practice, works with high net worth clients and family office in the areas of in the areas of tax mitigation and insurance planning. His practice has been involved in many client land situations and he is an expert in the space. Outline Definition of Conservation Easement Why are they useful? Where is it pointed in the law? What makes it controversial? Why is it a listed transaction? Role of valuations Role of formalities What's the difference between a syndicated vs a direct easement?
