She also addresses the proposal of a so-called confidence clause for the region in the accession treaties, which would prevent a newly joined Member State from blocking the accession of another candidate country. Finally, she provides an assessment, ten years on, of how both Croatia and the EU have benefitted from the 2013 enlargement. In Ukraine, as in many other countries, law enforcement and security agencies are closed systems with their own rules and mutual support. In time of war, the number of security-related and military organisations greatly increases, and the number of people in their ranks swell massively. The potential for abuse and infringement of civil rights is huge and is a risk for any country at war. On top of that are the tens of thousands of war crimes being committed by the invaders. My guest today is an expert in the law and judicial reform, who is ensuring Ukraine makes progress on these fronts, to defend individual rights and liberty even in wartime. Olena Sotnyk was a Member of the Parliament of Ukraine from 2014 to 2019, is a Human rights defender, lawyer, Advisor to the Deputy Prime Minister of Ukraine, Rasmussen global Senior Representative in Ukraine Millennium Fellow at Atlantic Council. Olena is a well-known legislator and public policy maker in areas such as rule of law, judicial system reform, anticorruption, euro integration and youth policy. We are in the 7th month of the SARS-CoV-2 Pandemic in Europe.Governments are doing what’s necessary to deal with the situation. More and more governments are initiating strong measures to control the infection rate with SARS-CoV-2. Israel has announced a second lockdown from September 18 for about three weeks. There is a lot of coverage of European measures in the local news. Also, a lot of information is published about actions taken in the United States. I rarely read anything about the situation in Asia. Is life back to normal in Asia? How is the risk assessment of the novel Corona Virus in Asian countries? That‘s why I asked a colleague who lives in Shanghai and is one of the best experts in Life Science and Asia in the world. In this webinar/podcast recording, I will talk with Irénée Robins about these topics. Born in North-Eastern France in 1971, Irénée Robin has been living in China for almost 20 years. Married with three children, genuinely bicultural, he speaks, reads, and writes Mandarin fluently. After ten years in the financial services industry with the BNP Paribas group, Irénée started his life sciences career in 2003 by joining Shanghai Cathay Biotech, where he established his first Sino-foreign joint venture with a major German specialty chemicals conglomerate, leading to the creation of Degussa Cathay Biotechnology in Jining, Shandong Province. From 2006 to 2011, he worked with the Institut Pasteur of Shanghai, an international research venture established by the Chinese Academy of Sciences, the Shanghai municipal government, and Institut Pasteur. Under his tenure, the institute grew from 40 to 240 researchers, with numerous drug/vaccine discovery programs against life-threatening infectious diseases such as HFMD, HCV, and malaria. His efforts were directed at increasing the institute’s financial resources, notably via expanding CSR programs with multinational corporations and successfully applying to European and international grants. In 2012, as a Senior Representative for the Biotechnology Innovation Organization (BIO), he organized the “BIO Convention in China” in Shanghai, facilitating multiple cross-border transactions between Chinese and US biotech/Medtech actors. From 2013 to early 2019, he was the Chief Marketing Officer and Head of International Business for Shanghai Newsummit Biopharma, a subsidiary of Shenzhen-listed Zhejiang Yatai Pharmaceuticals (SHE:002370). During those six years, he attracted more than 30 Western companies onto the Chinese market through a vast array of transaction types, from in-licensing to co-development, distribution, and service agreements. He also established 4 Sino-foreign joint ventures in 4 different Chinese cities, including China’s most advanced molecular pathology and next-gen cancer diagnostics lab (Shanghai German JV partner) and a first-in-class IVD development venture based on patients’ immune status markers, the use of NGS platforms, and targeted data mining/deep learning algorithms (Guangzhou – French JV partner).Speaker:Christian Soschner (https://www.linkedin.com/in/christiansoschner/)Irénée Robin (https://www.linkedin.com/in/ireneerobin/)Companies:CS Life Science Invest (https://www.cslifescienceinvest.com/)VVR Medical (https://www.linkedin.com/company/vvr-international/)Be part of our Network:

Fastest Way To Learn Sales | Training, Coaching & Motivation

Quote by: Brian Tracy A Canadian American motivational speaker and self development author. Brian has written about 70 books on these subjects including “Eat That Frog” & “The Psychology of Selling” “Telling is not selling, only asking questions is selling” Today’s topic as you can tell is about questions. Which is the 3rd Key in Selling! Asking Sub Ordinate Questions. Now different situations during a sales call require a different style of question. For example, when you are arousing interest in the product, service or an idea you ask close ended questions. When you are doing a discovery, you ask open ended questions. Today we will discuss the art of asking the subordinate questions. What are the Subordinate Questions? A subordinate question is any question the answer to which, if positive, means the prospect has bought! If it is not positive, it does not mean he has not bought. I read this in Zig Ziglar’s book that one of his friend used subordinate question which was very effective for him, he would ask the prospect: “Well, Mr Prospect, have you sold yourself or should I tell you more?” Remember no one wants to get sold, we all want to buy! So this question is powerful. If the answer is YES I AM SOLD! Make the transaction and if the answer is WHAT CAN YOU TELL ME MORE ABOUT IT? Allows you to bring you sales game! I also want to share with a story that I found in Zig’s book. He calls this THE PRESIDENTIAL CLOSE. Zig Ziglar was suppose to speak at a conference back in the day at Greenville, South Carolina during the week of Oct 11 through Oct 15th. A sign at the back of the lobby advised travelers to avoid travelling during these days as this was the textile week and the rooms are pre books 12 to 18 months ahead of the textile conference. Chances of getting a room with in the 50 miles radius of Greenville during the textile week is pretty much impossible. Zig Ziglar being the one of the best sales person in the history, did what he was best at! He walk in to the Holiday Inn and did the whole thing where he went up to the reception, introduced and asked for the room. Do you have a reservation? Asked the lady at the reception. He said yes, long time ago. How long ago asks the reception, Zig response 3 weeks ago. Now it was clear to the reception that he does not have any reservation as they probably do not book 3 weeks in advance, and she got her senior to speak with Zig. The senior Hotel Representative was polite and said to Zig, “I might as well tell you that usually I am the good news lady, however tonight” Zig interrupted her and says before you tell me that can I ask you couple of questions? She said yes, go ahead. Question#1: Do you consider your self to be an honest lady? Senior Representative said “Of course I do Mr Ziglar” Ok now Question #2: If the President of United State were to walk the door and come up to you and say, ‘I want a room.’ Now tell me the truth would have one for him? She smile and said: “Now, Mr. Ziglar, you and I both know that if the president of the United States were to come in here, I’d have a room for him.” Zig: “Ok Ma’am, you’re an honest woman and I’m an honest man. You can take my word for it that the President of United States is not going to walk through that door. I’ll take his room!” &nb

Workers in the Boardroom: worker directors and lessons from history 10 December 2016 - 11:00 am - 13:00 pm Lecture Theatre S-1.04, King's College London, Strand, London WC2R 2LS "The people who run big businesses are supposed to be accountable to outsiders, to non-executive directors, who are supposed to ask the difficult questions, think about the long-term and defend the interests of shareholders. In practice, they are drawn from the same, narrow social and professional circles as the executive team and – as we have seen time and time again – the scrutiny they provide is just not good enough. So if I’m Prime Minister, we’re going to change that system – and we’re going to have not just consumers represented on company boards, but employees as well." These were Theresa May's words as she launched her bid for leadership of the Conservative Party on 11 July 2016. At the time her speech was thought to mark a departure from traditional Tory themes - but what is the history of the idea of the worker on the board, what might May have really meant by her words and how can trade unions and political parties respond? History & Policy’s Trade Union Forum have convened an expert panel of historians and practitioners who will discuss these questions from both historical and contemporary perspectives.

You can follow Universal Orlando on Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter.     TIPS FOR VISITING UNIVERSAL ORLANDO Stay on property to get into the parks and hour earlier than general admission (especially if you are a Harry Potter fan) Get to the gate early as they often open the turnstiles before it would open because the opening time is usually the time they start the rides. This gives you time to get back to your favorite rides Go to Ollivander's wand shop early to not have a line and have a better chance of being selected to participate The Express Pass is a must-do for thrill-seekers, especially if you can get the unlimited Express Pass so you can ride attractions multiple times Child swap is available for parents of small children Bring a small day bag (not a large backpack) that will fit into the ride lockers The Harry Potter rides have a lot of storytelling that happens just in line so if you have a pocket that buttons, you may want to bring a phone or small camera to capture those moments, but even if you don't, just take your time to enjoy those aspects of the ride The Minions ride is very popular so even the Express Pass lane is very long but if you want, you can go in the "no motion" line and that is generally very short. It is the same ride experience except the ride vehicle doesn't move. Best times to visit: Universal Orlando's Mardi Gras (January-February) with parades and great performances Halloween Horror Nights -- for those 13+ there are scare zones, haunted houses and special after dark events It is busiest when kids are out of school but it can get busy during special events also You can purchase Express Passes in advance or on-site (but the price will go up based on availability) WHAT'S NEW AT UNIVERSAL ORLANDO New details have been released about changes to The Hulk this summer: King Kong also opens this year, see more details here.  Volcano Bay opens in 2017 and will be Universal's first waterpark, located near the Cabana Bay Resort, which they promise will "completely redefine the waterpark experience." HOTELS AT UNIVERSAL ORLANDO Loews Portofino Bay Hotel -- modeled after an Italian village Loews Royal Pacific Resort -- themed after the South Pacific Hard Rock Hotel -- looks like Hotel California from the Eagles album cover Cabana Bay Beach Resort -- beach retro hotel You get unlimited Express Pass access when you stay at Loews Portofino Bay, Loews and the Hard Rock Cafe All hotels have early access to the theme parks, dining on property and free transportation to the parks In 2016, they are opening the Loews Sapphire Falls Resort will be themed after the Caribbean with waterfalls and the largest pool on-site.
