I'm excited to tell you more about the Summer Support Sisterhood program I've created to help you stop drinking this summer and make it your best one yet. This 9-week program starting in early June will give you a community to rely on for encouragement, accountability, and answering your specific questions. Each Monday night at 8pm we'll meet on Zoom to check in, share our experiences over the past week, and set new intentions for the coming days. Whether you just want to listen in the background or actively participate, showing up each week will help hold you accountable to your goals. And don't worry if you slip up - that's what we're here for, to learn from mistakes and keep moving forward together. I know firsthand how hard it can be to stay sober through summer temptations alone. But with each other's love and support, I truly believe we can make a difference for one another. If you're ready to commit to this journey, please email me at Michelle@setfreesisterhood.com to be added to the enrollment list. Spots are limited and will be filled on a first come, first served basis starting the week of Memorial Sunday. I can't wait to get to know you and help you through this.

They say that those who can do and those who can't teach. But “they” don't seem to have ever met a proper teacher. In honor of the Norwegian town of Bodø's recognition as a 2024 European Capital of Culture, we dive into Bodø's most famous artist, Adelsteen Normann, the teacher you've never heard of, the picture-postcard modernist who introduced us to the scream that is Edvard Munch, and, eclipsed though he may have been, the painter who illuminated both the town he loved and the students he nurtured with the warmth of a sun that never sets. In today's episode, we'll dive into the psychology, neuroscience, and philosophy of aesthetics. Find out how your brain senses aesthetic experiences, how aesthetic senses can influence your behavior, and why people have studied the field of aesthetics for so long.About Dr. Cliff Workman: When we judge people for their moral or prosocial behaviors, do our perceptions of their beauty influence our evaluations? I am interested in understanding how morality and beauty interact to modulate decision-making. Prior to joining the ChatLab, I was a postdoctoral scholar in the Social Cognitive Neuroscience Lab at the University of Chicago under the supervision of Jean Decety. Our work investigates the psycholigical and neural mechansisms underpinning political polarization and support for ideologically-motivated violence. I received my Ph.D. from the University of Manchester in England in 2016 where I investigated relations between moral cognition and emotions and the physiopathology of major depression. Before starting my PhD, I worked at Johns Hopkins University on neuroimaging studies of psychiatric disorders, and also completed a B.S. in Psychology at the University of Maryland, Baltimore County, where I worked on studies of clinical, cognitive, and social functioning.
