Jesse Eisenberg wrote, directed and co-stars in A Real Pain. In the film two mismatched cousins embark on a Holocaust tour through Poland to understand the history of their late grandmother who is a Holocaust survivor. It's a beautiful, honest, poetic and hilarious film that is listed as one of the ten best movies of 2024 by the New York Times, Los Angeles Times, and the National Board of Review. As Owen Gleiberman wrote in Variety "Eisenberg has scripted with an ear for the music of ideas and for contrasting voices, he presents the story of these two cousins — how they interact, what they mean to each other, how their past intersects with the present — in a way that's so supple you can touch their reality." I sat down with Jesse at the Ram's Head Inn, a seaside hideaway in Shelter Island. The historic property was the site of several famous physics conferences that hosted J. Robert Oppenheimer and Stephen Hawking over the years. The Ram's Head continues the tradition of being an incubator for great talents. Jesse took part in a new film series there called, The Ram Film Society. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices

Hear about travel to Long Island, New York as the Amateur Traveler talks to Vanessa Gordon from EastEndTasteMagazine.com about her home. https://amateurtraveler.com/travel-to-long-island-new-york/ Why should someone go to Long Island? Vanessa says, "Long Island, there truly is so to discover, even from living out here for many years, whether part-time or full-time there's truly so much to do, whether you're in Nassau or Suffolk County, the two counties that make up Long Island. I've lived here in the Hamptons, been here for over 30 years and this New York region never ceases to amaze me. There are ocean beaches. We have Bay beaches. We have beautiful nature preserves, bountiful farmers markets, and endless amounts of summer events." Vanessa suggests visiting Long Island in September or October, mentioning the abundance of events, family activities, and cultural events during these months. She shares her favorite spots in Montauk, including the Montauk Point Lighthouse and the opportunity for seal watching and whale sightings. Moving to Shelter Island, Vanessa recommends taking the ferry and exploring the island's unique attractions, such as Rams Head Inn and Mashomack Preserve. She also suggests Sunset Beach as a hotspot for live music and sunsets. Vanessa then talks about Sag Harbor, her favorite village, and its family-friendly beaches. She highlights The Beacon restaurant and Barron's Cove Hotel for breathtaking sunset views. The discussion extends to wineries on the North Fork, with recommendations like Wolfer Estate and Channing Daughters. She covers various family-friendly activities, including museums like the Parrish Art Museum and Guildhall and theaters such as Bay Street Theater. Vanessa mentions the presence of celebrities in the fall. The itinerary continues with a move to Riverhead, described as the gateway to the North Fork and South Fork. Vanessa appreciates the town's historic charm, new businesses, and attractions like the Long Island Aquarium. She highlights the East End food market as a one-stop shop for local food purveyors. Vanessa suggests considering staying in Brookhaven instead of the Hamptons to save on your travel budget. She highlights Patchogue on the Great South Bay as a vibrant spot, particularly for nightlife, and recommends Fire Island for its popularity among the LGBTQ+ community. She emphasizes historical sites like Fire Island Lighthouse and Bellport, suggesting the Bellport Inn as a cozy stay. Moving to the "Gold Coast" on the north shore, Vanessa mentions historic mansions like Teddy Roosevelt's Sagamore Hill, the Old Westbury Gardens, and Oheka Castle, the latter featured in a Taylor Swift music video. She advises dividing mansion visits over two days. Whether you are visiting Long Island on your yacht or by train, whether you are visiting mansions or living in one, this area near New York City offers a very different world to the city with its beaches, farms, and vineyards.

Many concerns need to be tackled as we deal with the aftermath of the pandemic, including the state of our society and country. The Democratic Party has deviated from American values and has become the party of big pharma and censorship. In recent memory, America has never been more divided.    Today, we are fortunate to have our special guest Robert F. Kennedy Jr., an American environmental lawyer, and 2024 Democratic Party Presidential Candidate. He uses his voice to inform the American people of the country's failings, and to reunite the nation back to its' foundational values. Please take a moment to listen to this episode as he discusses his plans as president, and the need to stop censorship and corruption in the government. Don't miss this episode!    Quotes:   “The government shouldn't practice censorship. It is a First Amendment violation. And I'll create an executive order that prohibits all government departments from influencing public opinion or suppressing the American people by sending a memo on the first day of my administration.” - Robert F. Kennedy Jr.   “When Pfizer gives you a million dollars, they're not doing it out of philanthropic impulses. They're doing it because they expect to get something in return.” - Robert F. Kennedy Jr.   “In a world where rewarding the rich and punishing the poor, this nation has evolved into a form of cushy socialism for wealthy people in this cruel, ruthless capitalism for the country's middle class and poor. And that needs to end.” - Robert F. Kennedy Jr.   Key Takeaways:   When government officials order private entities to silence dissenting voices, they are in violation of the First Amendment because the government is engaging in censorship. They're not allowed to do that, which shouldn't be tolerated in the government. Big companies give money to the government not because they have any altruistic motives but because they want to purchase access, and they want to purchase action from the government that is often detrimental to the public interest. That's why it's important to keep corporate money out of the government.  Wealthier people have more societal comfort and privileges than the middle class and the poor. They become entitled, believing they are superior to everyone else. But it must stop now because everyone deserves to be treated well, including those who are middle-class and poor.   Highlights/Timeline:   [05:35] Background of Robert's inspiration and what catalyzed him into a presidential candidacy   [11:31] How does Robert aim to tackle censorship?   [16:13] How Robert reclaims the public's trust in the government   [38:32] Bobby's story of how he became interested in the environment   [49:05] Bobby's first public live event in San Diego   [51:00] Making a healthy generation of American Children   Conclusion:   As a nation, we must ensure that these large aggregations of power are not damaging our nation, our democracy, and the free flow of information. Despite being the richest nation in the world, the United States also has many people suffering from chronic diseases. No country in the world spends more on healthcare than we do, and yet we have the second largest population with the lowest health outcomes. This  is unacceptable - we need to do better.   America has never been more divided. The fundamental issue is how polarized both sides have become. A divided society cannot fend off exploitation or totalitarian takeover. The traditional American can-do spirit wears down in these never-ending battles. So let's bridge the gap and unite American citizens.   Future Generations is proud to host a historic event for the city of San Diego during Memorial Day Weekend.  Be a part of Robert F. Kennedy, Jr.'s first public event since announcing his candidacy for President of the United States. Take the time to qualify those you are networking with. “Anyone” is not a good client for anyone. Be specific as to who your target client is. Network with those who are trusted advisors to their clients. If there is no relationship, they likely don't have the ear, trust, or confidence of their clients.  "What givers gain means is finding people that you believe can support you back and give to them." — Bill Himmelstein Eventbrite Invitation:https://www.eventbrite.com/e/be-that-lawyer-live-coaches-corner-tickets-473685655547 Episode References: Book: The Secret of Shelter Island by Alexander Green Connect with Bill Himmelstein:  Website: https://tagcommercialbroker.com/LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/williamhimmelstein/ Thank you to our Sponsors!Legalese Marketing: https://legaleasemarketing.com/Moneypenny: https://www.moneypenny.com/us/Practice Panther: https://www.practicepanther.com/Connect with Steve Fretzin: LinkedIn: Steve FretzinTwitter: @stevefretzinFacebook: Fretzin, Inc.Website: Fretzin.comEmail: Steve@Fretzin.comBook: The Ambitious Attorney: Your Guide to Doubling or Even Tripling Your Book of Business and more!YouTube: Steve FretzinCall Steve directly at 847-602-6911  Show notes by Podcastologist Chelsea Taylor-Sturkie Audio production by Turnkey Podcast Productions. Every other week this fall, we will be airing some of Alec's favorite episodes from our archives. This week, we feature two supernovas of the musical world: acclaimed soprano Renée Fleming and the reigning virtuoso of the violin, Itzhak Perlman. Opera singer Renée Fleming, whose voice has been described as "double cream," remembers her beginnings in music, overcoming stage fright and her professional debut in this 2012 conversation. Fleming talks about the rigors of preparation for performing and the challenges of being heard, without amplification, over an orchestra. In this conversation from 2019, legendary violinist Itzhak Perlman speaks with Alec in front of a live audience at the NYU Skirball Center, discussing his difficult childhood, being stricken by polio in the war-torn early days of Israeli statehood -- and coming to the United States at 13 to play on the Ed Sullivan Show. Perlman also performs live with wife Toby Perlman and eight former students from the Perlman Music Program, a summer school on Shelter Island that provide a safe space for young musical geniuses to develop their talents, and themselves.See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
