Pardon the very rough audio quality. On this dig back into a past Patreon episode, Doug is delighted by Benjamin Franklin's performance as a real creep, Jamie gets Jessica Lange and Angela Lansbury confused, and we both assume there's an easier way to rob a shopping mall. With the news that Wings Hauser had passed away, we quickly shifted gears and decided to cover a Wings movie episode on this week's episode. Matt Poirier from Direct to Video Connoisseur is back with us as we look at the 1989 film LA Bounty, featuring Sybil Danning in an almost wordless performance.

Acomi and Turk182 ready themselves for a cinematic pairing 3-4 years in the making. A pairing no one really expected, or even says they thought about. The great Sybil "I turn boys to men" Danning and the unpredictable Wings "Gary who?" Hauser in L.A. Bounty (1989). Sybil Danning wrote the story of a cop turned bounty hunter who is determined to get the drug dealing, crime boss that killed her partner. After sadistic killer and drug kingpin, Cavanaugh, kidnaps a Los Angeles mayoral candidate, former police officer, Rutger, leverages the candidates wife to find Cavanagh and kill him for the execution of her partner. Devoid of any emotion but revenge, and very little to say, Rutger will use anybody she can to put Cavanaugh down. Join Acomi and Turk as they delight in watching an excellent 80s bad action movie. Especially, when the on going side story pays off in the end. Acomi and Turk182, along the occasional special guest, provide running commentary of awfulsome movie and TV shows. Wings goes full Joker, Sybil plays it like an old Eastwood character. Great B movie and very free!
Lee, Bobby, new guest Mike Bagford, and original Mike discuss the Franco Nero detective movie where he goes to Italy to solve a case but instead finds his estranged son, kisses him on the lips, and then dates Sybil Danning for awhile. But he don't give a damn, he's the Cobra!
On this show, our specialty is sequels, sequels, and more sequels. From the good ones, to the bad ones, to the really ugly ones, we'll be covering them all! We've got homicidal maniacs that won't stay in the grave, sci-fi epics whose stories cannot be told in a single tale, and much much more. For our 26th episode, we'll be taking on one of the most infamously bad sequels in horror history with "HOWLING 2: YOUR SISTER IS A WEREWOLF" from 1986, from director Philippe Mora. This lycanthropic follow to Joe Dante's original "The Howling" stars Reb Brown, Sybil Danning, Judd Omen, Annie McEnroe, and the incomparable Sir Christopher Lee. It's a vampire movie that is cleverly disguised as a werewolf flick that is BARELY linked to the original source material. In this story a man aides in hunting down a group of werewolves from America to Europe after discovering his sister was one herself! There's werewolf hunters, creepy kids, Sir Christopher Lee as an occult historian, an ear worm of a theme song that plays multiple times, a 10,000 year old witch/werewolf, and tons of werewolf orgies to boot! Sound a little too wild to believe? That's because it is. Join our hosts Cameron Scott and Eric Phillips as they dissect and take a deep dive into a world of misaligned vampires/werewolves in one of the weirdest sequels and troubled film shoots the likes of which you have ever seen before or likely will see again. "I lost my Earplugs!"
We've got another batch of twenty movies that crossed our eyeballs since the last time we spoke and, as usual, it's an eccentric batch. This time out we've got Gary Busey at his most unhinged (if that even possible?), we get two non-traditional westerns, some bad 90's CG rears its ugly head, the sun makes a guy go from jerk to lizard(!?), we visit a haunted asylum, 2023 horror continues to underwhelm us, Sybil Danning can't motivate this "squad", a giant octopus causes havoc and so much more! Thanks for listening! Love is in the air, and revenge is ready to catch a ride as we talk HBO's “Twilight Zone with boobs” - THE HITCHHIKER! This particular episode of the series was brought to us by the director of the Salem Horror Fest (and Returning Champion), Kay Lynch because it does the impossible: make anyone care about a character in this paper-thin anthology series!! Along the way, we dig into why this TV episode from 1983 has a more nuanced examination of the trans experience than we've seen from a lot of media in the last 40 years as we cringe at bra slicing, examine Robert Vaughn's toupee, crossover with Mission Impossible, worship at the alter of Sybil Danning, and take up the scalpel with the liquor shakes!! All this, plus we visit exotic Airport Bar, cut up our usual Choose Your Own Deathventure game, and change how you'll look at pizza for a while!! “Rock n roll. I'll cover you!” Today on the Cannon Canon, the Cannon Bros (Frank & Geoff) get a suggested "Could've Been A Cannon/Loose Cannon" from Patreon member, Ed Harris! The movie? 1986's The Howling II: Your Sister Is A Werewolf! Which had an HBO/Cannon Video VHS release (hence the "Loose Cannon"). Sir Christopher Lee musters up the strength to co-star with Reb Brown and Annie McEnroe, while a stunning Sybil Danning steals the show (and gets done dirty by the film's director and editor in the film's credit sequence). This Could've Been A Cannon/Loose Cannon has lazily rewritten vampire to werewolf specifics, unsettling practical effects, explosive blood of Christ and a theme song that just. won't.quit! Literally. Also, was Robert Smith inspired by this theme song for The Cure's "Burn"?! "It's not over yet"! So "bark at the moon", because "She-Wolf Stirba: Werewolf Bitch" is throwing a werewolf orgy at the Babel show! See you hair...um, there! Acomi and Turk182 ready their swords and shields for another romp through ancient days of yore with the incredible Sybil Danning leading the way in Warrior Queen (1987). Alas, even the talented Ms. Danning couldn't help make this movie memorable. Other than remembering it starred Sybil Danning and Donald Pleasence, we can't remember anything else about it. Something about Pompeii, and the volcano, and wanting to free slaves... Boring is too polite a word to describe this. Join Acomi and Turk as they try to stay awake and wonder how such great talents, and Donald Pleasence could be wasted in a movie like this. We're ending Beach Party Bonfires & Blood Month with Jake's favorite werewolf movie (and we love it too), The Howling! Jake joins us for an entire extended 2hr+ episode and drops his expertise on Dee Wallace, Joe Dante, Dick Miller and so much more in this wild, carnal, and hairy early 80s must see. And - because The Howling isn't enough - we're back for more in Segment 2 with thoughts aroundThe Howling II or what Case likes to call "The Howling II: The Transylvania Seduction" - or - simply put "Howling 2: More Boobs." That's right - who doesn't love Sybil Danning and Christopher Lee together in a so bad it's good movie!? (Ok, that's subjective). This is the last time we let Case write an episode description for one of these C-grade flicks that was made behind the Iron Curtain.
“They were seven - And they fought like seven hundred!” On this week's exciting episode, JD and Randy cruise back to 1983 and check out a film that until today they didn't even realize existed, "The Seven Magnificent Gladiators." Starring Lou Ferrigno, Dan Vadis, and Sybil Danning in a Bruno Mattei film. Enjoy the ride! “Once You've Met Them...You'll Never Forget Them.”
A team of treasure hunters find themselves facing off against cannabalistic mole-men, dinosaurs and a busty alien queen who just wants to find nice man and murder everyone else. Directed by the one and only Fred Olen Rey and featuring the fabulous Sybil Danning, this movie is an absolute blast of a mess from start to finish. Phantom Empire is like a mashup of every wacky idea that a group of friends could come up with during a late-night brainstorming session. It's got everything you could ever imagine: treasure, spaceships, robots, dinosaurs and even an underground civilization! Talk about a buffet of awesomeness. One of the highlights of the movie is the fabulous costumes. From Sybil's familiar low cut space queen outfit to the skimpy cave girl bikinis that Michelle Bauer forgets the top for 10 minutes and then Ross Hagens crappy Indy look, it's all pretty funny to see. So grab your popcorn, put on your most outrageous Indiana Jones hat, and buckle up for a hilarious and outlandish adventure. Phantom Empire is a hidden treasure that deserves to be watched for its sheer audacity and charm. Prepare yourself for a delightful ride through time and space... with a side of knockers and dinosaurs! Yeehaw!
On this edition of Parallax Views, filmmaker Fred Olen Ray returns to discuss his latest work Deep Red, a novel whose origins date back to the 1970s with an unfinished collaboration between Fred and Plan 9 from Outer Space's Edward D. Wood, Jr. In 1978, shortly before his death, Wood was writing the screenplay for Fred's Beach Blanket Bloodbath, a sci-fi horror tale that would've involved a half man-half fish monster! But that's not all. Fred also some great tales from his filmmaking career including stories from 80s Hollywood and the world of low-budget filmmaking. There's also a great deal of advice here for people may want to get involved in filmmaking or the entertainment industry as Fred discusses working with actors, writing for television, and much, much more. There's also a fair bit of background provided in this conversation about the movies Zombie Death House and Bloody Movie, two obscurities produced by mob-connected film lover Nick Marino that provide a behind-the-scenes look at the world of 80s low-budget genre filmmaking during the VHS boom. Fred and I also talk about his work on Lifetime movies and how they're made, the fanzine culture of yesteryear, 70s/80s cult actress and sex icon Sybil Danning, marketing movies, Fred's Retromedia company and its release of movies, Fred's wacky comedy Bad Girls from Mars and why it's never seen an uncut release (hint: studios not abiding by their contract; we get into the ways some film studios do filmmakers dirty), the killer pumpkin-man movie Jack-O and Fred's wild audio commentary with the director, and more! All that and much more on this edition of Parallax Views!
What's up, dudes? B-movie queen Sybil Danning bares it all in this Christmas(?) tale of seduction and murder, and I've got Shawn, Jaime, and Pax from Cult Film Club, Crestwood House, I Read Movies, Plastic Rocket Pop, and more to talk all about it! That's right! It's the 1984 erotic thriller "They're Playing with Fire!"Literature professor Diane hires her student Jay to varnish her yacht's woodwork. After seducing him, she convinces him to help her and her husband Michael get their inheritance. Jay will break in Michael's mom Lillian's house scaring her enough to move to a nursing home so Diane and Michael can move in. Jay breaks in, but is chased away by Lillian. An unknown assailant then kills Lillian. Meanwhile, Jay's ex-girlfriend is killed by a man in a Santa Claus suit in a play room decorated for Christmas. As suspicion falls on the trio, blame and thoughts of revenge are thrown around. Oh, yeah, and there's an incestuous love child step-brother of Michael hiding out somewhere. Forgot to mention that. Long story short, Michael is killed and Jay and Diane inherit everything and fly off to Hawaii.Killer Santa? Check. Evil long lost brother? Yup. Awkward love scenes? Definitely! We couldn't think of a better way to wrap up #prisonmarch than an interview with the Writer and Director of REFORM SCHOOL GIRLS, Tom DeSimone. We dig into the making of REFORM SCHOOL GIRLS and the different script changes that shaped the film. Tom talks about casting Wendy O. Williams, meeting Pat Ast in a NY nightclub and the casting of Sybil Danning as Sgt Sutter. We also talk about one of our Running Top 5 favorites, ANGEL 3: THE FINAL CHAPTER including how Donna Wilkes almost came back to the franchise. Tom talks about almost directing THE BLOB and working with an aspiring Frank Darabont. If we had our way, this would be a 6 hour interview. Tom has had such a storied career and we are incredibly thankful for the opportunity to talk with him.

On the latest episode of the Video Junkyard Podcast, the guys to space! Ok...so we've been doing a lot of that lately. But this time it's with 1980's "Battle Beyond the Stars" directed by Jimmy T. Murakami and Roger Corman. Starring Richard Thomas, Robert Vaughn, John Saxon, George Peppard, and Sybil Danning, this space opera latches on to the heels of some other popular sci-fi epic that came out just a few years earlier, but also borrows heavily on a different Kurosawa film (this time it's "Seven Samurai"). With a star-studded cast and a unique production design, how does "Battle Beyond the Stars" hold up? Check out the latest episode to find out(and also check out our Patreon)!
The HOT continues to boil over from "Hot January" thanks to Lou Ferrigno and Sybil Danning at their hot throbbin' peak! So you know what that means...no, we already covered Hercules....the OTHER one starring sexy Lou & Syb: 1984's THE SEVEN MAGNIFICENT GLADIATORS (or as the Cannon Bros call it, "The Sev Mag Gladz")! We're talkin' Anthony Kiedis looking demi-god villains, middle-aged gladiators, chariot scenes so nice they used it twice (in 2 different movies), Han-cules and the most confusing, hard-to-follow action this way of a Transformers Bay production, babe. Hide the chickens and cheese, the Cannon Bros are sliding back the woolly sheath to swing around the thick phallic sword of entertainment with The Sev Mag Gladz (trademark pending)! On this edition of Parallax Views, July 4th is just around the corner. What better way to celebrate than hitting the beach! Of course, if you're not careful in that water you could get munched up by a shark like in JAWS. Or worse... PIRANHA WOMEN! Piranha Women is the latest effort of Charles Band's long-running horror/fantasy/sci-fi factory Full Moon Features. It's also a return to said genre for it's director, the legendary independent filmmaker Fred Olen Ray. For a number of years now Fred has been working on TV, including making Hallmark Christmas movies with Chevy Chase and Lifetime thrillers. For him filmmaking is not merely some hobby, but a profession. Simply put, he's a working class filmmaker. Prior too much of his television work, Fred directed a great number of horror, sci-fi, action, and fantasy pictures during the VHS boom in the 1980s and a number of erotic thrillers during that genre's popularity in the 1990s. Among some of the cult classics Fred has directed are Hollywood Chainsaw Hookers, The Tomb, Biohazard, Cyclone, Evil Toons, Inner Sanctum (one of the most successful video rentals of the 99s), Beverly Hills Vamp, Witch Academy, Alienator, Deep Space, Star Slammer, Bad Girls from Mars, Mind Twister, Attack of the 60 Foot Centerfolds, Inferno, Possessed by the Night, and countless others. Through it all he's worked with such well-known actors as Ice-T, Don "The Dragon" Wilson, David Carradine, Sybil Danning, Martin Landau, Nightmare on Elm Street's Heather Langenkamp, Eric Roberts, Gunna Hansen (Leatherface in the original 1974 Texas Chainsaw Massacre), Morgan Fairchild, comedy movie legend Eddie Deezen, Bond girl Britt Ekland, Twin Peaks' Russ Tamblyn, Sid Haig, and many, many others. A monster kid that grew up on drive-in horror movies, Piranha Women marks Fred Olen Ray's returns to the type of fun genre fare that's made him a cult figure amongst cinema buffs. And it stars such beauties as Carrie Overgaard and Keep Chambers as the deadly titular fish women. In this conversation Fred and I discuss a number of topics including: - The secrets of indie filmmaking from matching shots to filming big name actors on a schedule - Working with classic actors like John Carradine, Aldo Ray, and Cameron Mitchell - The tricks he used to film the animated monster in the ambitious low-budget live-action horror Evil Toons - Working with Full Moon and thoughts on the promotional wizardy of Charles Band - Filming nude scenes with actresses - How to make films on low-budgets and tight-schedules - The craft of filmmaking - Orson Welles' cinematographer Gary Graves and his sabotaged film Moon in Scorpio - How he began working on Hallmark and Lifetime movies; what TV networks expect out of him as a director and why he gets the job - Filmmaking as a job rather than a hobby - The killer ta-tas gag in Piranha Women - The rise and fall of the "Scream Queen" cycle of films in the 1980s directed by Fred, Jim Wyrnoski, and David DeCoteau starring actresses like Linne Quigley, Michelle Bauer, Brinke Stevens, and Kelli Maroney - Advice to young filmmakers and what Fred looks for in young filmmakers (including discussion of Fred's producer credits for Steve Latshaw's Jack-O, which was recently re-released on Blu-Ray by Fred's Retromedia company, and Henrique Couto's Bigfoot web-series Boggy Creek) - And much, much more!
Acomi and Turk182 put on their cargo pants, director's jacket, and pack their primitive language translation book and explore the mountain caves that lead to The Phantom Empire (1988). Directed by B-movie champion Fred Olen Ray, and featuring Sybil Danning, Jeffrey Combs, and Robby the Robot the laughs in this campy sci-fi film don't come from the intentional jokes, but from the things that aren't meant to be funny. After a cave dwelling creature wearing a necklace of uncut diamonds attacks a family at the park, a treasure hunter is hired to explore the mysterious caves and find the source of the diamonds. But, the amassed group is unprepared for a race of cave dwellers, scantily clothed primitive cave women, an evil, leather clad queen from outer space. Oh, and diamonds! The also find diamonds! Ridiculous at every turn, and laden with jokes so old and stale, a funeral was held for the typewriter they were written on. Join Acomi and Turk as they watch with glee and ask questions the movie has no intent on answering. The Phantom Empire (1988) is everything you come to expect from the director of Hollywood Chainsaw Hookers, Alienator (Let's Watch! Season 3, episode 29), Bikini Frankenstein, and Wizards of the Demon Sword. Prepare yourselves for the unknown horrors that lie within the caves, and Let's Watch! The Phantom Empire (1988). Acomi and Turk182, along the occasional special guest, provide running commentary of awfulsome movie and TV shows. The hosts select movies that either one, or both, have never seen. All jokes and comments are improvised. NO PREPARED JOKES OR COMMENTS! During recording, the movies are watched at a low volume and with the subtitles on. Viewers may want to turn subtitles on as well to enhance the viewing experience. So, cue up the audio, ready the movie, and hit play when we say so. Note: This video is the commentary recorded by Acomi and Turk182, and selected screenshots. It is NOT a viewable copy of the film. The commentary can be enjoyed on its own, but if you want to experience the Let's Watch in all its glory, you'll need your own copy of the movie. We watched Bluebeard from 1972 starring Richard Burton, Raquel Welch, Joey Heatherton and a young Sybil Danning, about a suave ladykiller that just can't make it happen. Though critically panned at the time, we LOVE it. This episode is relatively spoiler heavy, but still a lot of fun. Battle Beyond the Stars Battle Beyond the Stars is a 1980 American space opera film produced by Roger Corman, directed by Jimmy T. Murakami, and starring Richard Thomas, Robert Vaughn, George Peppard, John Saxon, Sybil Danning and Darlanne Fluegel. Intended as a futuristic "Magnificent Seven in outer space", the screenplay was written by John Sayles with the score by James Horner and special effects designed by future filmmaker James Cameron. In this episode we discuss the history of space opera technology and film style with reference to Star Wars, the narrative structure and writing style. With an appearance in Battle Beyond the Stars of a “sonic tank”, we dive into the very real weapon with the same effect and technology as shown in the movie. This week on Total Movie Recall, our bodies go through some changes that we don't know how to deal with as we take in a John Landis double feature with Thriller & An American Werewolf in London.
