In this reflective and personal episode, I share a powerful insight that emerged during my weekly guided meditation and journaling group, Curious Minds, in Mount Maunganui. As the group grows and flourishes, I have been facing an internal resistance — the sneaky, familiar voice that whispers, “This is too good to be true.” Do you ever find yourself thinking that? I explore the roots of this mindset, how it shows up in different areas of my life, and why many of us struggle to feel safe in moments of success and joy. I also offer gentle, grounded strategies to help you expand your capacity for joy without self-sabotage. In this episode you will learn: What the "too good to be true" mindset is and how it might be showing up in your own life Why success and happiness can sometimes feel unsafe or unfamiliar How protective pessimism can rob you of presence and peace The connection between fear of loss, control, and self-sabotage Practical ways to create space between your thoughts and your truth How to gently rewire your brain with more supportive, regulating thoughts The importance of building your capacity to hold joy — and why it's a practice Insights from the Curious Minds group and the value of community reflection - What stood out the most for you in this episode? I'd love to hear from you. Feel free to send me an email at hello@worthwild.co.nz or slide into my DM's on Instagram. Too Good To Be True? We are celebrating the resurrection of Jesus Christ. When he first heard about it, Thomas thought the resurrection was too good to be true. But that wasn't the end of the story. Join us as we see how Thomas' encounter with the resurrected Christ changed his life.
You'll have to have listened to last weeks' Pilot+ to hear our review of One Day but fear not if you didn't catch that, because stars Ambika Mod and Leo Woodall join us this week to discuss Netflix's adaptation of the hit David Nicholls book. And speaking of turbulent romances, Alice And Jack comes to Channel 4 this week and sees Domhnall Gleeson and Andrea Riseborough as a pair of star-crossed lovers. BBC1's Kin, on the other hand, sees an entirely different kind of turmoil as the Kinsella clan go to war (again), and Channel 5's Too Good To Be True explores the perils of unvetted employment (but does allow James to set up a terrible culinary pun). Finally, Kay's postbag management takes a turn for the meta and we look at side-eye references in your favourite shows.
Maybe she's the girl who is gonna be picked up in King's Highway. Maybe the thing she's finally managed to break free from is a relationship with a self-obsessed movie star who has been pulled into a world of glamour and glitz. Maybe, just maybe, I'm massively overthinking this, but it sure is fun to connect dots and build out the narrative in your own mind!Today's episode covers the second song on side two of "Into The Great Wide Open", "Too Good To Be True'".You can listen to the song here: https://youtu.be/ek2_lOix9zI If you want to hear a live version from Take the Highway, you can find that here: https://youtu.be/h8dMrn8FW80 And if you want to check out the edit I made of the track, you can listen to that here: https://youtu.be/AHTxhEBXFZQ The Tom Petty Project is a proud member of The Deep Dive Podcast Network, which you can find on Twitter: https://twitter.com/deepdivepodnetDon't forget to follow me on social media, like, subscribe, and please, leave a rating if you like the show:Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/thetompettyprojectTwitter: https://twitter.com/TomPettyProjectInstagram: https://www.instagram.com/thetompettyproject/YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCt6BLRWuuAR43zHpNKIirOwAll music, including the theme song, provided by my very best friend Randy Woods. Rick Ross and Meek Mill have had a noteworthy professional relationship. They have collaborated on several hit records and were once close friends. However, there were rumors of a feud between them earlier this year. Rick Ross addressed these rumors, expressing his continued support for Meek Mill and stating that he still considers Meek a friend. The two artists reunited, putting rumors of a rift to rest. They recently announced an upcoming joint album titled "Too Good To Be True," set to be released on November 10, and their new single “SHAQ & KOBE” marked their first collaboration since Meek Mill's 2018 album "Championships". Regarding their latest song "Lyrical Eazy", it's set to release on October 20, 2023. While there is not much detailed information available about the song's content or theme, it is part of the duo's collaborative endeavors leading up to their album release. This is the first in a three part series on Spiritual Estate Planning. If I haven’t lost you yet, I will be going through three aspects of earthly estate planning and showing how they relate to spiritual estate planning. This series can set you up for life in how you work with God, your estate advisor and reach goals that are out of this world. Investments, Insurance and Inheritance are the three areas that will be examined. First Investments. Caution, Crypto Ahead. The first part of the series is on investing. In 2022, a crypto currency exchange, FTX filed for bankruptcy. According to Fortune.com, FTX had 60 billion dollars and lost 51 billion. The day before the bankruptcy filing, FTX allowed 1500 people in the Bahamas to withdraw approximately 100 million according to MSNBC. I bet you couldn’t even think of having 51 billion dollars, much less losing it. The scriptures do not teach against being rich or investing, but they are clear on where we are to store or build wealth primarily.
