A Violinist Gets Back His Life and Music Pudukkottai Ambika Prasad is an accomplished Carnatic violinist who has performed in several sabhas over decades. Hailing from a family of Hari Katha tradition, devotion was natural to him. He had his first opportunity of performing in Prasanthi Nilayam in 2006 along with Dr O S Arun. After this, he never came to Puttaparthi until Nov 17, 2024, when he was again blessed with the opportunity to offer his music to Bhagawan. But this time, he prayed and pined for it. He had decided he would never touch the violin again after his surgery in Swami's hospital in June 2024 unless Swami gave him the chance to play for Him. And that indeed happened, quite miraculously. In this Satsang, he narrates the series of miracles he witnessed in his life in the recent past, which not only gave him a rebirth but also gifted his music back to him through thrilling instances of His mercy and grace.

For the Love of Yoga with Nish the Fish

First, we take a look at the Caṇḍi (Devī Māhātmyam) to see all the different forms of Mā: 1. Mahākālī from chapter I who is described as being blue like a jewel with ten hands holding various weapons, ten legs and ten heads , 2. Kālī who springs forth from Parvatī in Chapter 5, Verse 88 after the aparājita hymn and of course, 3. Kālī who springs forth from Ambika's furrowed brow, a personification of her rage, in Chapter 7, in verses 7-27 to slay two demons named Caṇḍa and Muṇḍa thereby receiving the moniker Cāmuṇḍā, who is Herself one of the Aṣṭa Mātrikās (The 8 Tantrik Mothers) which you can learn more about here. And then we ask this question:In what way are all these forms of Kālī in the Devī Māhātmyam related if at all? How is Kālī different from Durgā/Ambika? And in what way are these Kālīs different from or the same as 4. Dakṣiṇā Kālī? To answer it, we offer the Tantrik theory of sarvākara nirākara: the Absolute Reality is formless and without attributes and therefore She can include ALL forms and attributes. Ultimately, I make the argument that all these aspectsa and forms that we see in Tantra are not themselves different Goddesses but just different sarees that the One Being, Pure Non-Dual Consciousness, wears to play! For more detailed Kali puja instructions, watch this playlist:https://www.patreon.com/collection/233799Lectures happen live every Monday at 7pm PST and Friday 10am PST and again Friday at 6pm PST.Use this link and I will see you there:https://www.zoom.us/j/7028380815For more videos, guided meditations and instruction and for access to our lecture library, visit me at:https://www.patreon.com/yogawithnishTo get in on the discussion and access various spiritual materials, join our Discord here: https://discord.gg/U8zKP8yMrMSupport the show

In 2019, Anura Kumara Dissanayake contested Sri Lanka's presidential election against the incumbent Gotabaya Rajapaksa. He won only three percent of the vote. In the parliamentary elections a year later, the National People's power – the coalition that includes Dissanayake's party, the Janata Vimukti Peramuna – won only three seats. The JVP was disparaged as the “three percent party.” In 2024, Dissanayake has turned the tables by winning 42 percent of the vote share. Meanwhile, Namal Rajapaksa, the son of former president and prime minister Mahinda Rajapaksa, secured only three percent. Dissanayake's meteoric rise to Sri Lanka's executive presidency, which marks a landmark shift in the country's politics, was powered in large part by the people's struggle or Aragalaya in 2022 and the simmering public dissatisfaction with the political class ever since. In this episode of State of Southasia, Ambika Satkunanathan, a lawyer and former commissioner of human rights in Sri Lanka, explains how sections of the populace, including the Tamil minority, are wary of Dissanayake, given the JVP's history of violent insurrections in the 1980s and its leftist economic outlook. However, she says, he has made the right moves in reaching out to business communities and showing an eagerness to work with everyone. State of Southasia releases a new interview every four weeks. This podcast is now available on Soundcloud, Spotify, Apple podcasts and Youtube.

About The Novel: Aisha who is having  a hard time figuring out how to answer the Standford essay question, “how have you gotten out of your comfort zone?” The thing is Aisha hasn't, she hasn't gone to any parties or even had her first kiss. But when her long-time crush, Brian asks her to dance. She thinks that her fate is changing. That is until Brian stands her up. As if on cue, a banged-up car pulls up to the dance, and a guy her age apologizes for being late to pick her up. Aisha doesn't know what he is talking about but is sick of not taking chances so she gets into this stranger's car. To Aisha's relief, seventeen-year-old Quentin isn't a kidnapper but failing math. So they strike a deal if Aisha helps Quentin pass math, he will help push her out of her comfort zone. Except what happens when Aisha's sticky note manifesto is taken off, but she falls for the wrong guy, hurts her best friend, and still can't finish her essay. Victory feels far from reach. Are you ready to discover how yoga can transform lives, regardless of age or mobility? In the latest episode of the Flow Artists podcast, host Jo Stewart sits down with Ambika Chadwick, the founder of The Yoga Social and Chair Yoga Australia. Ambika takes us on a journey from her early days as a dancer to becoming a passionate advocate for chair yoga, proving that yoga truly is for everyone. Ambika's story is a testament to the adaptability of yoga. She shares how her understanding of the practice evolved from seeing it as "just deep stretching" to embracing its profound physical and philosophical aspects. But it's her work with chair yoga that really shines. From nursing homes to community centers, Ambika has brought the joy of yoga to those who might have thought it was out of reach. Her "picking fruit" exercise, where students reach in all directions from their chairs, is just one example of how she makes yoga accessible, fun, and engaging for older adults. What's particularly touching is how Ambika's own journey with aging has deepened her teaching. She talks about becoming more attuned to her body's needs and how this has influenced her approach to yoga. It's a beautiful reminder that yoga meets us where we are, adapting to our changing bodies and lives. As Ambika puts it, "I now understand more and I understand that I can stretch a muscle, I can mobilise a joint, but I can't change the shape of my bones... and so I am going to pull back in certain poses and not push." For those inspired by Ambika's work, there's exciting news! She's offering a chair yoga teacher training at the Flow Artists' studio, Garden of Yoga, in September. Whether you're an experienced yoga teacher or someone new to teaching, this training promises to equip you with the skills to share the benefits of chair yoga with others. It's a chance to be part of spreading the empowering message that yoga is truly for everyone, no matter their age or physical condition. Many have ideas of yoga being an exercise program to help the body become flexible but its true gift is teaching us about what we truly are, our purpose, and the art of steadying thoughts and quieting the mind so that we can find ourselves in the state of Meditation. With my guidance and decades of consulting and counseling, I give you tools that repair communication, increase vitality, heal relationships, and boost your level of happiness. (Note: there are plot spoilers in this episode,so consider yourself warned!) In today's episode Ambika joins me to talk about her journey from stand up comedy to landing a role she had secretly manifested for decades in One Day.
