If you're a listener of this podcast, you probably have figured out that I am a huge fan of improv. In fact, this is my third improv-related episode! Each has been unique and has brought its own gifts—and, as you'll soon hear, this one delivers big. Author and Stanford Business School instructor, Patricia Ryan Madson wrote a book I loved book so much I listened to it twice! It's called Improv Wisdom: Don't Prepare, Just Show Up. SuperPsyched guest and world-famous Stanford Psychology Professor Emeritus, Dr. Philip Zimbardo said, “Her students often describe her as a ‘goddess,' but that may be an understatement. I rejoice that her wisdom is now available to new audiences.” Indeed, Patricia offers improv tips that relate to real life whether you practice improv or not. The skills she shares and endorses can dramatically improve your at-work and at-home lives if you put them into play. So, listen in as Patricia shares improv wisdom!

THE ESSENTIAL COMPONENTS IN CHOOSING LEADERS: WISDOM AND KNOWLEDGE On June of 2023, the The 22-foot carbon-fiber and titanium craft, called the Titan, was deployed by a Canadian expedition ship, the Polar Prince, to travel nearly 13,000 feet down to the infamous TITANIC shipwreck site. The Titan lost contact with the surface ship an hour and 45 minutes after it started to dive, the U.S. Coast Guard said. It was later discovered to have imploded due to the enormous pressure of being over 13,000 feet below sea level. A major flaw in this tragedy was the lack of WISDOM AND KNOWLEDGE in that the leadership for the company who built and run the Titan sub program was selected on the basis of diversity at the cost of wisdom, knowledge, and experience. This week James talks about wisdom. This might seem like a significant shift, but it isn't. Think about how many Proverbs talk about the words that come from our mouths. If you think about wise people, you will know they are wise by how they live and speak. There is a vast difference between the way a wise person uses words and a foolish person.

The letter of Romans was written to a people the author, the Apostle Paul, had never met. This may explain why it resonates with us today. It reads like a lantern for those searching for theological clarity in this often dark cavernous world. This letter trains, equips, empowers, and reveals the heart of what it means to follow Jesus and have a relationship with God. In Romans 13 we are challenged to examine how we live under authority, make choices, and how we love others radically. Speaker: Mike Kuckel Text: Romans 13:8-14 ESV
In last week's episode, Part 1 of Marla Levy's story; Opening the Heart to Compassion, Marla shared her story of battling complications from a congenital heart defect. She shared that during the course of her hospital stay and the fight for her life, she experienced more than one Spiritually Transformative Experience. She explained how her heart was opened to a level of compassion that before she seldom knew. If you have not listened to last week's episode, I highly encourage you to do so.In Part Two, The Gift of Presence, Marla recounts how she struggled for 6 weeks simply to breathe and how this fundamental and agonizing struggle rewired her brain's capacity to stay in the present moment. She shares in detail what she learned and what it is like to actively live in the present moment. She considers herself lucky to have fully adopted the practice of “living like she's dying” and hopes that others can begin to do the same. What she knows is that when we do, we radically and profoundly lessen fear, while increasing our capacity for gratitude and the appreciation of the beauty that is always around us.

We will examine one of the most important things to possess in a crisis—wisdom. In a crisis the temptation will always be we can handle the problem ourselves and we do not need any help. Then we devise a plan to get through the crisis, but we forget the most important part of the plan and we fail. Possessing wisdom will make sure we do not forget the important piece in planning. This Sunday we will look at how wisdom helps us to think through a crisis.
