In this episode, I address a question about the role of verbal communication in CCPT. Research shows that play therapy is effective even when the therapist and child don't speak the same language, yet verbal interaction is a key part of the process. I explain how both can be true by examining the role of the therapeutic relationship and how verbal responses support emotional growth, self-regulation, and self-esteem. I also discuss a therapist's experience working with a deaf child who communicates using American Sign Language. We explore whether fluency in a child's language is necessary, the potential impact of using an interpreter, and how to navigate language barriers while maintaining the integrity of the therapeutic relationship. So many words in the English language have more than one meaning. Some words are pronounced the same but are spelled differently. All of these are challenges in their own right, but what happens when you talk to someone who doesn't speak English as a first language? Now, take those challenges and apply them to cybersecurity. I sit down with Paul Croker of 18bit IT to talk about global cybersecurity threats and how the approach to addressing those threats might change based on which part of the world you are in.

“A good manager is not anymore managing people, but also managing tools…if you give the right instructions, you can manage an army of robots…combining that with your team, and combining that with your robot team, then you can be a great manager.” -Nicolas Boucher Artificial intelligence is here to stay, like all great technological revolutions, it can feel scary to have our foundations shaken. That is why it has never been more important to be able to adapt and go with the flow. To ride the wave of AI to new heights in your bookkeeping business, rather than hope it passes you by. It is important to remember that what we think of as AI, isn't a truly sentient lifeform. It is an incredibly complex program for sifting through the collected knowledge of mankind, faster than any one human could do alone. But it is still us, when it generates answers, it takes that knowledge from everyone who has faced that issue and posited an answer online. Nicolas Boucher is a German keynote speaker and expert in leveraging ChatGPT for finance teams. In this episode, he masterfully unpacks our fears around AI, while giving tangible examples of how your business can be dramatically enhanced with the application of AI tools. If you are struggling to get along with AI tech, Nicolas also offers his top tips for getting started with ChatGPT. Helping us to understand the possibilities rather than fear the results. AI will only replace us if we aren't applying our creativity and experience to our work. As long as you love what you do, a computer will never do it better. During this interview, you'll learn... We have an exceptional guest expert on this episode of Sell With Authority; I'm thrilled to have this conversation with Kathryn McGarvey. Her insights will reshape the way you approach marketing. I had the pleasure of crossing paths with Kathryn McGarvey through a mutual friend and a previous rock solid awesome two-time guest on our podcast, Karley Cunningham. Kathryn runs The Meaningful Marketing Company, based in Napier, New Zealand. Her approach to marketing isn't your run-of-the-mill strategy. It's what she terms “digitally eavesdropping,” a brilliant concept of wholesome snooping that we cover in depth. And here's where it gets truly captivating: Kathryn has a workshop titled “Steal From Your Clients.” Yes, you heard that right! In this workshop, she empowers attendees to gather the authentic words of their clients through interviews, and then masterfully weave these insights into their own sales and marketing materials. It's not just about writing; it's about curating a conversation that resonates in a profoundly authentic way. It's about connecting with them on a deep level so that you understand their dialect and then leveraging it in ways that will generate the most return on your investment of time. What you will learn in this episode: Why Kathryn believes the insights you get from talking directly to your customers is the ultimate marketing hack Why Kathryn started teaching in the workshop format, and why she used the provocative title, “Steal from Your Clients” How Kathryn strategically introduces her concept of wholesome snooping to right-fit prospects What questions you should be asking your clients Why it is essential to follow curiosity instead of a script The best ways to leverage collected intel Resources: Website: https://www.meaningfulmarketing.co.nz/ LinkedIn Personal: https://www.linkedin.com/in/kathryn-mcgarvey/ LinkedIn Business: https://www.linkedin.com/company/the-meaningful-marketing-co/ Additional Resources: Predictive ROI Free Resource Library: https://predictiveroi.com/resources/

Anyone who's been in the construction industry long enough knows that there can be a disconnect between architects and builders. Often this comes from a lack of education, communication, and differing expectations. Our guest, Jacob Brillhart, is an architect that has worked diligently to surround himself with a great team of builders and sub-contractors. Together they've built a strong relationship with each other and their clients, overcoming the normal industry struggles. These relationships, in conjunction with his tropical designs, have catapulted him to success. Today we hear where he started and how he built his business. A tenured professor, Jacob teaches us how improving on existing designs and being curious about new techniques can lead to a career in exotic places. Show highlights include: 8:57 In the beginning I was patient and picked the projects I could be passionate about 9:51 My first real inspiration was for the mid century modern homes of the 1950's and 1960's that somehow got lost in south Florida 13:18 We were fortunate to get featured in some great publications early on along with a spot on Extraordinary Homes on Netflix. That really propelled our visibility and growth 16:11 Every one of our projects is original and site specific 17:30 I want to engage with a builder very early in the process and we establish a budget You can learn more about Jacob and the Brillhart Architecture at https://brillhartarchitecture.com/. In this epidose of SeroTunein, me and my friend Kritika explore the varieties of our cross-cultural confusion as Indian Americans. We first acknowledge the differences in our cultural identity: her being raised Hindu in a family originally from the North Indian state of Maharashtra and me being raised Christian in a family originally from the South Indian state of Kerala. One of us grew up on the West Coast speaking Hindi and Marathi and the other one grew up on the East Coast hearing Malayalam. I'm the other one by the way. Despite our differences, both of us have experienced similar confusing situations in our American lives: Inviting friends over, asking for help in new settings, personal finances, the whole mix. In this epidose, we take some time to see why these situations felt uncomfortable or unusual in our Indian-American experiences. Today on our show we're talking about language. Listener Jamshid Samareh came to the United States from Tehran in 1978. He shares his story, which is about how learning the English language has helped him connect with Americans. Jamshid quotes Nelson Mandela who said, "If you talk to a man in a language he understands, that goes to his head. If you talk to him in his language, that goes to his heart."Jamshid lives in Norfolk, VA holds a PhD in Mechanical Engineering and Mechanics and is a senior research engineer at NASA Langley Research Center in Hampton, Virginia. Hosts Andrea and Allison discuss details in Jamshid's story that could have been slightly embellished to improve the story. We'd love to hear what you think (listener).
