This is the first of a two-part interview with Socrates (@manningupsmart on Twitter), one of the true defenders of relationships in an era that makes them so hard to keep. We talk masculinity, feminism, manosphere, virtue, attraction and much more. There is a high degree of Jordan Peterson-style riffing aloud as I sort out my thoughts on these matters, as well as my own life experiences, shortly after getting healthier from a long-term medical condition. Socrates is an excellent guide. His new book, The Map, is now available at Amazon and is recommended reading. I am in the unusual position of loving people who identify as feminists, while being saddened by some of the more extreme, anti-family, anti-male clickbait and rhetoric out there in the media that declares itself feminist. What a waste. I myself use the term feminism and feminist in perhaps too blanket a fashion a couple of times, though Socrates and I clarify this point.  I want this to be a conversation that is ongoing. I want to interview a third-wave feminist in good faith within the next month or two. I think that dialogue and sunlight are the ways forward. I am always stunned by what we have in common and what problems that we can navigate and solve. Socrates lays out a vivid picture of the road ahead, and offers healthy relationships as a way forward. Please direct questions, comments, or offers to discuss this on the show to mikekanecast@gmail.com
