Ally is the Program Manager of Talent Acceleration at Clio, a legal technology company based in Burnaby, BC, where she's helping prove it's possible to build and scale a Human and High Performing organization. Tate Hackert was born in Comox. He went to the University of Victoria and did an exchange at the City University of Hong Kong where he completed his Bachelor of Arts in Economics. Between the ages of 16 and 23, Tate originated more than $300,000 in loans through sourced-leads on Craigslist. Tate is currently the founder and President of Zayzoon, which is an HR-technology company on a mission to improve employee health through the use of responsible financial products. One of the key offerings that Zayzoon has is wages-on-demand, which gives employees access to their earned wages in advance of their regularly scheduled paydays. In this episode, Tate openly shares his origin story...how he started his first business (a lemonade stand at his parent’s house), and how he eventually transitioned into lending out $300,000 of his own money between the ages of 16 and 23. Tate also shares his unique and thoughtful perspective on the benefits to University. David is a resident physician at the Vancouver General Hospital currently undergoing specialization training in Emergency Medicine. He also has sub-specialty interest in Aerospace Medicine and holds a MSc in Aerospace Medicine from King's College London. He received his MD from UBC and his Diploma in Aviation Medicine from the UK Faculty of Occupational Medicine. David is interested in the application of medicine to deep spaceflight and currently does research for the European Space Agency looking at innovative countermeasures to long duration human spaceflight. He has also invented and patented multiple medical devices and is part of a biomedical start-up company. David is always looking for innovative solutions to today's problems.
