This episode features Mike Ward from Back Creek Custom Rods and Custom Colored Guides. Mike discusses how he got into fishing and rod building, and how he started experimenting with custom coloring guides in 2021. He explains the difference between anodizing titanium and powder coating stainless steel guides. Anodizing titanium provides a durable color that cannot chip or peel, but the color options are limited. Powder coating allows for a wider range of colors but requires more labor and care. The podcast concludes with information on finding Mike at upcoming events like ICRBE and tips for learning from other builders at rod building gatherings.

Every week, Christ's Church gathers to celebrate His incarnation. How do we celebrate? Like the angels, we celebrate by announcing the good news, ascribing glory to God, and advancing peace on earth.

The best way for God's family to honor Christmas in our hearts and try to keep it all the year is to keep the Lord's Day, every week, all year long. Like the shepherds, we gather. "To all who did receive [Christ], to those who believed on His name, He gave the right to become children of God, who were born, not of blood nor of the will of the flesh nor of the will of man, but of God." We who believe are family, not because of natural descent or natural desire, but because of supernatural delivery.

Like the shepherds on the night of Christ's birth, we gather in response to good news. Like the shepherds, we gather because God invites us and meets us. But unlike the shepherds, it's not a one time event for us. We gather at God's invitation and in expectation of God's presence weekly(!) on a day more significant than December 25 - the Lord's Day.
Roy L Hales/ Cortes Currents - The Cortes Island Museum ZOOM AGM is this Sunday, April 25th, at 1:30 PM. As managing Director Jane Newman explained, “The only other I would love to tell people is that we have an AGM coming up. We have a really fascinating speaker, Gordon Cyr of Mason Bee Central, who lives over in Back Creek and he is a North American champion of Mason Bees. He is really, really engaged. His family has a business building bee houses and educating people about mason bees and their importance as a pollinator.” On Cyr's website, Bee Canadian.ca it says “Most home orchards and gardens can be well pollinated with as little as 50 Orchard mason bees. Each female can visit up to 2,000 blossoms a day. One acre of a commercial apple orchard can be pollinated with approximately 250 female Orchard mason bees.” A description of the Cyr family business is given under the About us tab, “Our staff is 1 husband , 1 wife, 2 kids,1 cat and a group of volunteers. We have been raising Mason bees for about 20 years; it has been a huge learning process.” For the first several years we enjoyed successes and suffered through failures, learning from both. We started supplying friends, family and neighbours and the growing interest in Mason bees inspired the creation of a website. We have been selling Mason bees and Mason bee homes online since 2007, currently available at masonbeecentral.com.” “In 2019 our rental program filled the pollination needs of over 600 homeowners and 3 commercial orchards in the Campbell River, Courtney area and produced 180,000 Mason bees. Our ever-increasing amount of Mason bees allows us to expand our service to the South Island.” “Our rental program now services Vancouver Islanders from Campbell River to Victoria.” “In 2015 we won NEDC's “Best Environmental and Sustainable Business of the Year Award” and in 2018 Honorable Mention in NAPPC “Pollinator Advocate Award Canada” category.” Mason Bee Central offers mason bee kits for rent, starting at $20/year, to help gardeners increase their crop yields. You do not have to be a member to attend the AGM, but you would not be permitted to vote unless you are a member. “Having said that, it is very easy to become a member of the museum and we are really encouraging anybody that may have been a member in the past three or four years has been a member, but for some reason has not visited or felt like this was something they would follow through with. We are looking to rebuild our membership and bring it back to what it was in 2019. As we did lose members through the pandemic year,” said Newman. She added, “There are so many ways you can become a member, just by volunteering time, by volunteering money, and if you have done any of those things prior to the AGM you can vote on the things that need to be decided.”

Sin is rebellion against God - an attack against the Creator by his creation. And the way sin works never changes. Sin attacks God by:Denying God's Goodness (Genesis 3:1-5)- Denying God's Command (vs. 1, "Did God actually say...")- Denying God's Credibility (vs. 4, "You will not surely die...")- Denying God's Character (vs. 5, "He knows you will... be like God...")Deceiving God's People (Genesis 3:6)Distorting God's Gifts (Genesis 3:7-24)

Jesus commands us to love the Lord our God with all of our minds. We do this by thinking about God (connecting creation, our daily experiences, and blessings) and thinking God's thoughts after him (by reading, memorizing, and applying his Word).

Loving the Lord your God with all your heart means cultivating a deep devotion and commitment to God at the very center of who we are. It means fighting to put God first in all things and refusing to remake him in our own image.

Over 700 hundred years before Jesus was born, the prophet Isaiah gave him four names describing the relationship he would have with God's people. The last of these names is Prince of Peace. Real and lasting peace anywhere must have as its foundation peace with God through Jesus Christ. Peace with God through Christ frees us to possess peace within ourselves, to pursue peace with others, and to promote peace in the world.

Over 700 years before Jesus was born, the prophet Isaiah gave the promised Child of Christmas four powerful names.
Back Creek Church | Charlotte, NC » Messages from Back Creek Church
Names mean something, and usually the name you are called communicates something about the relationship between you and the person who calls you by that name (ex. Mr. so-and-so, title, first name, full name, nickname, daddy, etc.). The same is true for the names given to Jesus over 700 years before his birth. They are given by a prophet to a people who are about to be plunged into deep darkness because of their sin and unwillingness to trust the Lord. But "the people who walked in darkness have seen a great light... unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given, and the government shall be upon his shoulders and his name shall be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace." These names are relational in nature, revealing who God is to and for his people in the promised child of Christmas, the Lord Jesus. Jesus is uniquely qualified to be our Wonderful Counselor because he is God. Jesus is uniquely qualified to be our Wonderful Counselor because He is human. Trust Him. Accept His invitation. Listen to His Word and do what He says, knowing that He has already dealt with the problem that gives rise to every other problem in our lives and in this world through his life, death, and resurrection. ***Our apologies, there were some technical difficulties during this service which are heard on the recording.
