Sujata is joined by the humorous and effervescent Janice Campbell on the show today. Janice is a recovering theatrical stage manager turned Doctor of Acupuncture & Herbal Medicine. She is also a Somatic Touch Practitioner and teaches a variety of online courses to individuals and groups. She recently finished up a 5 year stint in academia, where she threw a university's clinical practice of a 3,000 year old medicine online in less than 6 weeks during quarantine, to the benefit of the master's and doctoral levels student practitioners, their faculty, and patients. She loves puzzles of all kinds, storytelling, and learning new things. In addition to homeschooling her son, she reads, plays music, and gardens far less than she'd like. In all that she does, Janice is committed to helping people remember how to respond to the world the way they did when they were little because life is too short not to be having a good time. Janice lives in Baltimore, Maryland with her sweetheart, their son, an opinionated cat, and an elderly dog, who is a Buddhist monk that took an odd turn in reincarnation. Playlist included: 1. I've recently started collecting vinyl, however my Celtic record collection is much smaller than I like. It seems like alot of older artists are out of print and newer artists distribute mostly digitally. Are you aware of any resources to find groups, perhaps ones featured on your podcast that offer music in this format?" David Turner replied to the Celtic Music Magazine: "Hello Marc, Thank you so much for your podcast which has been a constant companion these past few months. It’s very weird listening to pre Covid episodes with you expressing all the freedom of looking ahead with anticipation! Ah weill . Now favourites could be a long list! However, I still get prickles remembering the immense, involuntary roar at the conclusion of a concert by The Battlefield Band in Port Fairy in 1991, a roar not generated in the vocal chords, but deep from the core, as Big Iain and Wee John finally brought their frenzied duet to a close, the entire tent vibrating and humming with exhilaration. Tears in my eyes again! Yes, what a band, so my fave Scottish band. Honorary mentions to Dick Gaughan, Aly Bain and Dougie McLain. To Ireland, and Mary Black. Now this choice could well be clouded by my intense infatuation, but her Song for Ireland stops me in my tracks every time. Andy Irvine is also a hero. Keep up the good work Marc, we need good people like you! Warm regards. David” Bill Wall emailed a photo: "Cead Mille Failte. (I probably misspelled that) I'd been meaning to subscribe for a while, but when I heard a few people drop off I knew I needed to step up. The music of your podcast stirs up many emotions in me. I have been sober for 5 years now, and I listen to your podcast driving to one of my favorite 12-step meetings about 40 minutes away from my house. For all of the Wild Roving I've done, with Celtic music in the background, it's great to hear the music on the way to centering myself. The drive is from my stereotypically suburban environment into a wooded canyon where we meet at a monastery. The monastery has green hills behind it for a beautiful hike, which reminds me of my time in Ireland. Since I know you like pictures, I thought I'd include these two. Thank you for all you do to keep bringing the happy war songs and sad love songs."

A few years ago I was listening while scanning in 19,000 slides my father had taken over his lifetime, but I finished that. I live right on the Silver Comet Trail, and now I listen to the podcast while racking up the miles on a bicycle. There’s a photo below, though the speedometer says zero because you don’t take a good picture from a moving bicycle. Thanks for the podcast, and special thanks for the Running Music episode #470.  That one upped my speed by about half a mile per hour." Emanuel Nervo emailed: "Hello Marc, Thank you for your e-mails and invitations. The time I became more aware of celtic music was via Loreena McKennitt. Her music helped me with some emotional stuff when I was an adolescent. Then I get to know musicians from the netherlands (were I live)  and Belgium who played Folk music and Powerfolk... then came the dances and I was hooked for life. although I dance less then I would like and should do either :) I’ve been friends with a singer-song writer Peter Habets for a long time. His Powerfolk band was called Matzko. They played their own written music but also some irish music. I enjoy your podcast.  Most of the music is unknown for me and some are obviously known. I don’t have a particular band that I like. For sure i Like bands such as The Dubliners, Clannad, the chieftains. there are of course non-irish bands that I like too that are made and played by Folk bands. I have been to the festival Castlefest several times  (keukenhof, Lisse, Netherlands)  and there are such lovely bands there too. Kind regards from Heeze, Netherlands (NB)"

Reverend Robert Kirk.Born - December 1644, Aberfoyle, Scotland.Taken by the Good People: May 1692, Aberfoyle, Scotland. Rev Kirk, also known as ‘The Fairy Minister’ was blessed (or cursed) with the skill of ‘Second Sight’. Second Sight allows a person to see, hear or interact with the Good People, and in some cases, bestows the person with great skills of healing. For Kirk, this led to an intense fascination with the Faerie of the highlands and lowlands of Scotland. Such so, it came to dominate his life, and some say, cause, his death.Others argue he has never died. But still, to this day, dwells among the Good People. On this week’s Podcast, Kitty takes a look at the strange life and mysterious death of Rev Robert Kirk and ponders:Did the Good People kill him in retaliation for him sharing their secrets?Did the Good People invite him to join them?Is Second Sight all its cracked up to be?Join Kitty to find out all this and much more! Episode 23 – Spirit of PlaceKitty has a bee in her bonnet! The time has come to clear the air and take a look at one of the foundations of believing and understanding Faerie Folklore: Spirit of Place.*Traditional Irish and Celtic Folklore doesn’t bark or harangue us.It seeps, quietly, into the corners of our mind and memories. It speaks to each of us without prejudice. In this episode, Kitty ponders the experience of being an Irish, or Celtic, descendant and asks:Is it wrong, or offensive, for someone outside of Ireland to discuss Irish Folklore? Why do millions of Americans, Canadians and Australians feel such a powerful connection to the homeland of their Ancestors. What is Spirit of Place anyway, and what’s it got to do with Ancestral Memory?*As always, Kitty explains why it’s okay to feel passionately about the homeland of your Ancestors and encourages everyone to relax and keep an open mind.Read stories of encounters with the Good People, and share your own story of an encounter or perhaps one handed down through your family at www.encounterswiththegoodpeople.com . Paul Vosteen emailed from West Virginia: "Marc - ok, that's a little informal, Mr. Gunn, My wife and I volunteer at a local community radio station here in Pocahontas County (WV). We're three shows in to a Celtic radio show that we call "Celtic Highways and Byways" and I'm writing to ask your sage advice on obtaining new music. We're operating on pretty much a zero budget (volunteer DJs, public/community radio, etc.) and the current library of Celtic music at the station is rather old - there was a show that ended about 6 yrs back, so the 'newest' stuff in the collection is circa 2009. We do have a few CDs of our own that we tap into, but finding new music is our goal. One of the areas we are trying to focus on is reinforcing the connections between the music of the Celts and music in the Appalachias. We've made some inroads into this, but we're kinda newbies (although I have played Celtic music for a number of years - whistle and flute). ANY insights you may have are appreciated. We subscribe to your podcast, and enjoy it greatly - I generally listen while I am at work, while my wife plays it loud all about the house. :-)" Thank you Paul. First, Marc is fine.
