Have you ever felt stuck between what life “should” look like and what it actually is? This week, I sat down with the incredible Abby Green, a coach, speaker, and fierce advocate for Down syndrome inclusion, to talk about how to find joy, resilience, and purpose in the midst of life's curveballs.Abby's story is nothing short of inspiring. Growing up in a home where making ends meet was a constant struggle, she channeled those challenges into an unstoppable entrepreneurial drive. Today, Abby is the co-owner of the wildly popular HERself Podcast, a community that empowers women to pursue their dreams while staying true to their values, relationships, and themselves. But it wasn't a straight path to success. Abby's “actually, I can” moment came through her journey of parenting her sweet and spirited son, Owen, who has Down syndrome. His determination and creativity taught Abby to let go of perfectionism, embrace life's messiness, and truly focus on what matters. In this episode, we explore:Abby's journey from financial struggles to entrepreneurial success. How parenting a child with Down syndrome shifted her perspective on identity, resilience, and advocacy.Letting go of perfectionism and embracing life's seasons. The transformative power of small, consistent actions in building a fulfilling life.Practical tips for overcoming scarcity mindsets and finding joy in the process.Ready to hear a story that will leave you inspired and motivated to embrace your own unique path? Abby's story is proof that fulfillment isn't about checking boxes—it's about finding the courage to live authentically and evolve with grace.RESOURCES MENTIONED IN THIS EPISODE:Female Founders CollectiveMidlife on Purpose: WorkbookJack's BasketJulius's WayGigi's PlayhouseCONNECT WITH KATY RIPP: Submit a letter HERE for a Dear Katy episodeWebsite: www.katyripp.comInstagram: @katyrippPinterest: @katyrippFacebook: @katy.rippCONNECT WITH ABBY GREEN:Website: www.herselfpodcast.comAbby's Instagram: @abbyrosegreenHERself Podcast Instagram: @herselfpodcast

This week on the podcast, I'm sharing my conversation with Abby Green, co-host of the HERself Podcast, where she talks about the real challenges and triumphs women and mothers face. Abby Green is a type A woman that loves nothing more than a finished to-do list and a tidy house. This felt DOABLE until her second child joined the mix. All of the sudden she was overwhelmed, frustrated, and her Achiever heart was breaking as she felt like she was just scraping by in every area of life. This launched her into her own self-improvement journey. She had to learn what she could let go of, where she needed her partner to step up, and she knew she needed help in ALL the places (think therapy, life and business coaching, and even hiring out the laundry!). Now that her feet are more firmly planted on the ground, she is here to share her journey in order to help other women navigate theirs.   Find More From Abby:  Podcast: https://www.herselfpodcast.com/ IG: https://www.instagram.com/abbyrosegreen/   --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Are you interested in working 1:1 with me? I'm now officially a Certified Money Coach (CMC)® where I work with you to create greater balance, a higher consciousness and help you transform your relationship with money. This goal of this work is to guide you to a deeper understanding of the unconscious beliefs and patterns we carry that create stress and fear and hold us back from living the life that you want. You can book a quick 15-minute call here so I can learn more about you and your goals for the program.  I'm so excited to be able to connect with you on a deeper level and help you discover what's blocking you from living the life you really want.

"Apart from that I love it, and in a lot of ways it was the first album that I fell in love with without influence from my family, it also feels weirdly “too close” in the current political climate. John Colapinto of Rolling Stone wrote about the album that it "gives voice to the disenfranchised suburban underclass of Americans who feel wholly unrepresented by the current leadership of oilmen and Ivy Leaguers, and who are too smart to accept the "reality" presented by news media who sell the government's line of fear and warmongering." And If that's not the world we are living in now…It was an album that changed me as a person, a freshman in high school in a lot of ways discovering who I was for the first time, this album became my anthem for a time and was the soundtrack behind a new version of myself and my departure from youth." -Abby Thank you so much for listening to this episode of the Album Files! This week's guest might sound familiar to you if you've taken any of our runs inside our app. We have Abby Green with us today to talk about her experience with prolapse. Abby is an amazing member of the Expecting and Empowered team and community. She's a mom to three kids. And she's Amy's co-host on the HERself and Pursuing HER Purpose podcasts. We wanted to talk about prolapse, because we know it can be really hard for women, when they go through something like this and it isn't talked about often. Abby experienced it. And now she's open and willing to share her story so that we can hopefully provide some solidarity and solutions if you're experiencing prolapse as well.Krystle goes into detail on what exactly the different types of prolapse are and how you can even check for it yourself. She explains that there is so much that we can do if we are experiencing discomfort that can get us back to a place where we are much more comfortable. Krystle talks about the importance of strength training and how that can help our pelvic floor support our organs. She even goes into what sex positions can be more comfortable for you depending on the type of prolapse you are experiencing. We want to thank Abby for being so vulnerable and opening up about what it really looks and feels like to go through prolapse. We are really hoping that we can help some women out there because we know that this is a very tough thing to go through. If you enjoyed listening to this episode, we would love it if you could share it to your Instagram stories and tag us, @expectingandempowered. That's what I want to share. So this show is listener supported. No advertisers. No record labels. Your generosity funds the creation, production, and promotion of the show. In return, you get episodes before regular listeners, discounts on merch, and when we hit a milestone, you get extra special episodes, including a bonus episode of the Celtic Christmas Podcast that is now online. I want to thank our incredible Celtic Legends: Annie Lorkowski, Bryan Brake, Carol Baril, Hank Woodward, Hunter Melville, Kevin Long, Lynda MacNeil, Marianne Ludwig, Nancie Barnett, Scott Benson, Shawn Cali, Theresa Sullivan. These generous people pledge $25 or more per month to make this podcast a reality. I wish you well, as I do any of my ancestral countrymen (both Scottish and Northern Irish).  But I am a completely disabled veteran, with very limited means. Slainte!" Arika Lycan emailed from from Ypsilanti (ips-ill-an-tee) MI: " Good morning! I’m driving back home to visit my parents in Columbus Ohio, To pass the time with my mom while my dad has hip replacement surgery. I’m sure I’ll pop in my earbuds and listen to the rest of this episode which will keep me in good spirits. Maybe I’ll even share an ear bud with my mom :-) Safe travels in Scotland!" Connor Hibbs emailed: "Hi Mark! Just re-listening to episode 360 while sitting and editing photos (That's what I do for a living) Hoping to get a job out before the day gets too warm so I can also spend some time landscaping my back yard. Just wanted to write to tell you I love your show and give a suggestion! I'm not sure how you edit the show together, but it would be great to have chapters embedded into the feed so I could skip back to the beginning of songs I really love. I totally realize that my suggestion would create a little more work for you overall in what is already without a doubt a labor intense process, and am definitely not saying that I would ever stop listening even if you choose not to go that route. Just wanted to provide a friendly suggestion for a feature from someone who really adores the show and feels that others might enjoy having something like that included! Sláinte!"

Women are under-represented in music in general. Even more so when it comes to pub songs. I'll be honest. I can't think of one women from Ireland focusing on pub songs. In fact, the first place I think of women singing drinking songs is at Renaissance festivals. And so, you'll note several bands in this show from there. Get FREE MP3s at http://pubsong.net. Do you have a favorite female musician or band? Post in the comments. Pub Talk There are new Irish & Celtic Music Podcast t-shirts. And if you already have a shirt. Take a picture and send it in. * Every now and then, a band gives me permission to play a full album of their music, from start to finish. This is exactly what some DJs did back in the 70s as they launched careers. I'm always honored to feature a band when they give me permission. But I'm doubly honored to share the music of Poitin. Poitin has been regularly featured on this podcast since 2009. It was their traditional Irish set of Congress Reels that first grabbed my attention. But since then, they've released album after album of great music. Last year, they sent me their album "Wish" and it's been one of the albums I've given to my Sainted Song Hengers and one I still enjoy in my car when I'm not listening to podcasts. Now I want YOU to listen and enjoy the entire album. As usual with bands on this podcast, there's a small request that goes along with it. If you enjoy the album, please consider buying the CD or an MP3 of your favorite track. Or head on over to iTunes, CD Baby, or Amazon and post a review of how much you enjoyed the album. Or join their mailing list so that you can be notified when their Poitin's new album comes out this fall. Independent Celtic musicians like Poitin rely on your generosity. Because without you, we can't make a living with our music. So please show your support in some form or fashion. * I WANT YOUR FEEDBACK: Call 678-CELT-POD to leave a voicemail message. Traveling will fill your life with joy and satisfaction. You experience life more fully when you hit the road and leave your comfort zone. I've felt its rewards more fully through my years on the road. I've grown and learned a lot, much like Mark Twain. Twain wrote: “Travel is fatal to prejudice, bigotry, and narrow-mindedness, and many of our people need it sorely on these accounts. Broad, wholesome, charitable views of men and things cannot be acquired by vegetating in one little corner of the earth all one’s lifetime.” This week, I share some of my reasoning behind why I love to travel and also how you can kickstart your travel experience. Plus, I share a Celtic Music Spotlight on Abby Green and offer you a free copy of my album Not Every Day Is St. Patrick's Day. Join me for the as we delve into WHY you should travel too.
