Dr. Boaz Johnson explores women Bible translators such as Pandita Ramabai (1858-1922) who, as a child, memorized thousands of Sanskrit texts. After coming to faith as a Christian, Pandita mastered the ancient languages and produced a Bible in Marathi—a very popular dialect in India. The work was completed on her compound called Mukti—meaning salvation. In all of history, there was never a translation of Scripture like Pandita's that was entirely the work of women: from translation to printing, binding, and distribution. Pandita's work inspired a contemporary of hers, Katharine Bushnell, MD (1855-1946). A medical doctor, missionary, and anti-trafficking activist, Bushnell encountered prostituted girls in India and elsewhere in the world. Bushnell was convinced that poor Bible translations were part of the cause since they portrayed women as inferior to men. Both women, Ramabai and Bushnell, did significant work to expose and upend the demeaning of women noted in failed Bible translations, a topic Dr. Boaz Johnson addresses throughout the podcast. Another woman mentioned was Frances E. Siewert (1881-1997). Holding academic degrees such as Litt. B., B.D., M.A., Litt. D., Siewert is credited as the visionary who initiated the Amplified Bible. Dr. Boaz Johnson expressed enormous appreciation for the team he works beside especially the women Bible translators from countries outside the US. Their scholarly expertise, coupled with their experiences as women from varied ethnicities and cultural backgrounds brings fresh perspectives to their translation decisions. One example was their decision to translate Ezer Kenegdo in Genesis 2:18 as “one who walks ahead of the other” in a posture of defense and protection. Ezer Kenegdo a phrase most often used of God's rescue of Israel. This is also how God describes woman in Genesis 2:18: one who protects and defends the man. Dr. Boaz Johnson then connects the characteristic of women's defensive protection noted in other biblical women like Ruth, the Proverbs 31 woman, and the wife of Job. The episode ends by considering the women who suffer, the Mary's of Scripture who through pain and trials become wise, strong, and prophetic leaders. Guest Bio: Dr. Boaz Johnson, PhD Dr. Rev. It's Wednesday, June 28th, A.D. 2023. This is The Worldview in 5 Minutes heard at www.TheWorldview.com. I'm Adam McManus. (Adam@TheWorldview.com) By Jonathan Clark Indian pastor: “We feel like strangers in our own land.” The U.K.'s Special Envoy for Freedom of Religion or Belief has shared a report on Christian persecution in India. The report looks at recent violence in India's Manipur State. The violence had “a clear religious dimension” as radical Hindus destroyed hundreds of churches and Christian villages. 66,000 people have been displaced, many of whom are Christians. A local pastor shared, “Our churches are being burned down, and we have not been able to gather together for worship or prayer since May 3rd, 2023. We feel like strangers in our own land, and we are, in effect, being required to choose between our faith or our land.” Global Christian Relief has opened two emergency relief centers in a nearby Indian state, offering food, shelter, clothing, and medicine. For $70, you can help one Indian brother or sister in Christ. German pro-life victory A top court in Germany delivered a victory for pro-lifers last week. The Federal Administrative Court in Leipzig ruled that banning peaceful prayer vigils outside abortion mills violates constitutional rights to freedom of assembly. Alliance Defending Freedom represented a German-based 40 Days for Life chapter in the case. Germany's Federal Minister for Family Affairs has been pushing for censorship zones around abortion mills. Pavica Vojnović with 40 Days for Life said, “I am grateful that we can continue our prayer vigils. Every human life is precious and deserves protection.” Proverbs 24:11 says, “Deliver those who are drawn toward death, and hold back those stumbling to the slaughter.” Update on Timotheos Foundation Malawi story Yesterday, The Worldview reported on a law in Malawi, Africa that bans homosexual relations. The law is being challenged by a missionary named Jan Willem Akstar. He was charged with homosexual behavior in 2020 while working with the Timotheos Foundation. As an update to the story, the Timotheos Foundation let Akstar go as soon as they heard of the allegations against him. And he is no longer connected to the Timotheos Foundation Malawi. Disney has lost $900 million on last 8 films Valliant Renegade, a box office analyst, reports Disney has lost nearly $900 million on its last eight studio releases. The releases include Lightyear, Thor: Love and Thunder, Strange World, The Little Mermaid, and Elemental. Many of the films contained homosexual or transgender elements. Altogether, the latest releases cost the entertainment giant $2.75 billion, while only bringing in $1.86 billion. This year, Disney has laid off about 7,000 employees as it tries to cut costs. Your son's purity Today, as I guest host Generations Radio, I chat for a third and final time with Rhonda Stoppe, author of Moms Raising Sons to Be Men. She offers Biblical insight for moms on how to navigate the turbulent waters of adolescence. We tackle three helpful chapters entitled: Impart the Vision: The Man He Will Become Tools for Autonomy: Equipped for Independence Even If You Don't Know What to Say: How to Talk to Your Son about Sex and Purity. STOPPE: “When you enter into a sexual relationship with anyone that's not your spouse, it quenches the Spirit in your heart and your mind and your life. And now you're no longer led by the Spirit. “Now, you marry someone because you've just been having sex with them and you figure that it's the next thing to do. But you don't know if that's really what God would have for you. “Because if you're a believer, you are sinning against God. You're quenching the leading, the guidance of the very One who can lead you into a relationship of lifelong love with a spouse that can love you with Christ's love. But once you start having sex, now, your best bet is your best bet. And so talking that through with our kids, instead of just saying because it's wrong, and God said, ‘No!' Like, okay, why? God's a good Father, and this is what He has for you.” 1 Corinthians 6:19-20 asks, “Do you not know that your bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit, Who is in you, Whom you have received from God? You are not your own; you were bought at a price. Therefore, honor God with your bodies.” To hear my entire 41-minute interview, go to Generations.org/radio. U.S. church attendance down since COVID And finally, Gallup reports U.S. church attendance is showing a small but noticeable decline since the COVID-19 pandemic. For decades, Gallup has asked Americans if they have attended religious services in the last seven days. The percentage who said “yes” stood at an all-time high of 49% in the 1950s. That number decreased to 40% by the 1970s and plateaued until the mid 2000s. Since then, attendance has dropped significantly. Only 34% of U.S. adults attended services during the years leading up to the pandemic. And now, it's down to 31%! Since 2020, Protestant attendance dropped from 44% to 40%, and Catholic attendance dropped from 37% o 30%. In Romans 11:4-5, Paul asked, “But what does the divine response say to him? ‘I have reserved for Myself seven thousand men who have not bowed the knee to Baal.' Even so then, at this present time there is a remnant according to the election of grace.” Close And that's The Worldview in 5 Minutes on this Wednesday, June 28th in the year of our Lord 2023. What lessons can today's Christian mothers glean from Rebekah, the mother of Esau and Jacob, Salome, the mother of James and John, two of Christ's 12 disciples, and Mary, the mother of Jesus Himself? Rebekah and Salome often made the wrong decisions which no mother should emulate. By contrast, Mary was a humble, courageous young woman who inquired of the Lord, knew her purpose, knew God as her Savior, and knew the Word of God. In this second of three conversations with guest host Adam McManus, Rhonda Stoppe, author of Moms Raising Sons to Be Men, shares Biblical insights from these three mothers of Scripture. In Adam's first interview with Rhonda, they discussed fascinating Biblical insights for Christian mothers from Jochabed, the mother of Moses, as well as the unnamed mother of David. And in his third interview, Rhonda addressed how moms can encourage their sons to choose chastity before marriage. Get Chapter 16 for free at www.NoRegretsWoman.com. It's Tuesday, June 27th, A.D. 2023. This is The Worldview in 5 Minutes heard at www.TheWorldview.com. I'm Adam McManus (Adam@TheWorldview.com) By Kevin Swanson Turkey's crackdown on foreign missionaries The nation of Turkey is cracking down on foreign missionaries. The International Society for Human Rights has identified a disproportionate number of foreign expulsions. In a recent report, the group revealed, “There is no common ground among these expelled persons, except that they are all Protestant Christians, who are active in church life and/or active in evangelism.” India's Prime Minister claims he opposes religious persecution Last Thursday, India's Prime Minister, Narendra Modi, responded to a question from the Wall Street Journal on human rights abuses in his country. REPORTER: “What steps are you and your government willing to take to improve the rights of Muslims and other minorities in your country and to uphold free speech?” During a rare give-and-take with reporters while he was in Washington, D.C., Modi said there is “no space for discrimination. … In India's democratic values, there is absolutely no discrimination on the basis of caste or creed.” This despite the fact that religious persecution has increased four-fold since Modi took office in 2014. In related news, back in May, the U.S. Commission on International Religious Freedom raised concerns about persecution in India. It said that religious freedom conditions there “continued to worsen” in the last year and recommended that the U.S. designate India as a Country of Particular Concern for engaging in “systematic, ongoing, and egregious violations of religious freedom.” Christian missionary charged with 9 counts of sodomy at orphanage In other international news, the law banning same-sex relations in Malawi, Africa is being reconsidered by the High Court. This time, a Reformed male missionary in Malawi named Jan Willem Akstar has challenged the nation's Penal Code that “criminalizes carnal knowledge against the order of nature” as unconstitutional. In 2020, the missionary was charged with nine counts of homosexual activity with students involved with his ministry, the Timotheos Foundation. While the High Court of Malawi is considering the petition to legalize same-sex relations, the Catholic Church has issued a statement opposing the motion. The church declared, “Homosexuality is against the Scripture and the teachings of the Catholic Church and it is about acts against the order of nature, therefore, should not be promoted in any way. … It is our conviction that these acts should not be allowed in a country touting to be God-fearing.” Let us take note of Revelation 22:14. “Blessed are those who do His commandments, that they may have the right to the Tree of Life, and may enter through the gates into the city. But outside are dogs and sorcerers and sexually immoral and murderers and idolaters, and whoever loves and practices a lie.” Street preacher in Britain continually harassed by the police Street preacher Ryan Schiavo was arrested again for preaching in Canterbury, England on June 10th of this year — this time preaching out of Romans 1:18-32. He is no stranger to this sort of treatment however. The English police are especially problematic for street preachers these days, marking their police cars with the moniker “Police with Pride.” Schiavo told The Christian Post that the police have stopped him from preaching 25 times in the last two years in public places in England. No charges are ever filed. According to the evangelist, the purpose is only to stop the preaching. And the situation has worsened over the last few years. Abortions up 14% in England and Wales In other United Kingdom news, regrettably, abortion numbers are on the increase in England and Wales. Official numbers reveal that abortions in 2022 increased by 14% over the previous year. The U.K. Department of Health and Social Care records an average of 20,000 abortions per month. Biden touts contraception as “fundamental freedom” President Joe Biden issued an executive order over the weekend to expand access to contraception. He called this access a “fundamental freedom,” and instructed the executive branch of the U.S. government to “ensure coverage of comprehensive contraceptive care, including all contraceptives approved, granted, or cleared by the Food and Drug Administration, without cost sharing for enrollees, participants, and beneficiaries.” Top 3 pro-abortion groups endorse Biden As of Friday, the leading pro-abortion groups -- Planned Parenthood, NARAL Pro-Choice America, and Emily's List -- have endorsed Biden's 2024 presidential election campaign, reports U.S. News & World Report. Lessons from Salome, mother of James and John If you're a mother of a son, check out my second conversation with Rhonda Stoppe, author of Moms Raising Sons to Be Men as I guest host Generations Radio today. Listen to her describe the trap that Salome, the mother of James and John, two of Christ's twelve disciples, fell into. STOPPE: “She saw an opportunity for her boys and she pulled Jesus aside and she asked, ‘Hey, when you become king, can you sit my boys on your left hand and your right hand?' Jesus said, ‘You don't even know the cup that I'm about to drink.'” Stoppe offered today's Christian mothers some counsel that she gleaned from Salome's life in my 35-minute conversation. STOPPE: “Don't attempt to control circumstances. There's a section of Moms Raising Sons [to Be Men] called, ‘Control freaks raise freaks.' Don't manipulate others to gain favor. Wait on the Lord and teach your son to pursue Jesus Christ. Avoids schemes to achieve an outcome that's favorable for them. Guard yourself from pursuing the prize of personal advancement by keeping your eyes on the prize Jesus Christ. And remind your son that serving Christ well is the greatest motivation in life.” To hear lessons from Rebekah and Mary's life as well, go to Generations.org/radio. Scientists surprised by intelligent cave writings post-flood And finally, scientists were amazed to discover writings carved into cave walls, presumably contributed by the Neanderthals, reports ABC News. These writings, found on the La Roche-Cotard cave in France, are described as “deliberate, organized, and intentional.” They are an indication that these primitive human beings, existing sometime after the worldwide flood, were intelligent and thoughtful. Genesis 1:27 says, “So God created man in His own image; in the image of God He created him; male and female He created them.” Close And that's The Worldview in 5 Minutes on this Tuesday, June 27th in the year of our Lord 2023. It's Monday, June 26th, A.D. 2023. This is The World View in 5 Minutes heard at www.TheWorldView.com. I'm Chris Galanek, filling in for Adam McManus. By Jonathan Clark Christians Face Discrimination During Heavy Monsoons in India Northeastern India is facing heavy monsoon rains, displacing tens of thousands of people. As the government hands out aid, International Christian Concern warns that believers face discrimination. Christians often receive little to no aid during natural disasters. Meanwhile, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi visited Washington, D.C. last week. During a press conference, Modi denied that Christians are persecuted in his country. However, the church in India has faced increased attacks under his leadership. Jeremiah 9:8 says, “Their tongue is an arrow shot out; it speaks deceit; one speaks peaceably to his neighbor with his mouth, but in his heart he lies in wait.” Russia on the Verge of a Coup For years, Russia has utilized the Wagner Group, a private military company led by Yevgeny Prigozhin. The group has been active in Ukraine. However on Friday, Prigozhin announced a rebellion against Russian President Vladimir Putin. Wagner forces actually began a march on Moscow on Saturday and seized an important military facility in Russia. Prigozhin is calling for the removal of Russia's defense minister saying he has withheld supplies from the Wagner Group. Belarus brokered a last-minute deal on Saturday between Putin and Wagner, easing tensions for the time being. One-Year Anniversary of the Overturning of Roe v. Wade Last Saturday marked the one-year anniversary of the U.S. Supreme Court's decision to overturn Roe v. Wade. Since the decision, over a dozen states passed new anti-abortion legislation. FiveThirtyEight estimates over 24,000 fewer babies have been murdered in the womb over the last year. Pro-abortion states saw an increase of nearly 70,000 abortions, while anti-abortion states saw a decrease of over 90,000. Presbyterian Church in America Stands Against Transgenderism The Presbyterian Church in America took a stand against transgenderism during its General Assembly last week. The denomination passed an overture entitled, “Petition Government to End Sex-change Procedures for Minors.” The petition to government leaders states, “The Bible is the supreme revelation of God's will and teaches that God made man in his own image, male and female . . . We who love our nation . . . call upon you to renounce the sin of all medical and surgical sex change procedures in minors by the American healthcare system.” ++++++++++++++++ Lessons from David's mother Bringing up boys isn't for the faint of heart. On today's edition of Generations Radio, guest host Adam McManus interviews Rhonda Stoppe, author of Moms Raising Sons to Be Men. Listen to the lesson she gleaned from David's mother. STOPPE: “Did you know that David's mother's name is not mentioned in the Bible? And I'm like, ‘Why? This woman should get a shout out. She raised David.' “We find David, one day, he's gone to take lunch to his brothers, and they're in the battlefield. And they're being taunted by a giant. No one's fighting the giant. They say he was probably about 17 years old at the time. He looks at his brothers and all of these warriors and he goes, ‘This guy's mocking the name of our God. I'll fight him. I'll fight him right now!' You know, teenage boys, when they get their strength, do they go for it. “And so Saul, the king, gets wind of it, and he puts his armor on David. It doesn't fit. He takes it off. But he says this to Saul. ‘God gave me victory over a lion. And He gave me victory over a bear. I know He will give me victory over this giant.' “So, timeout. He's 17 when he said that. That means he was younger than that when he was on a hillside, battling, with his bare hands, a lion and a bear that God gave him victory. Where was his mama? His mama was not a helicopter mom. “If my son had come home and told my husband, ‘Hey, Dad, I killed a lion with my bare hands today.' I'd be like, ‘Awesome! He doesn't work for you anymore. Find somebody else.' I would have protected him from those lions and bears. “But here's what I learned from that story. Moms: Listen to this. If you don't get anything out of this interview, get this. Sometimes God sends a lion and He sends a bear into our young sons' lives because He knows the giant He's preparing him to battle.” Listen to Adam's 28-minute interview with Rhonda Stoppe, author of Moms Raising Sons to Be Men at Generations.org/radio. Julian the Apostate Died on this Day in History And finally, Roman Emperor Julian the Apostate died on this day in history in AD 363. He suffered wounds during a conflict with Persian forces in what is modern-day Iraq. As his name suggests, Julian spent his life trying to bring back paganism to the Roman Empire. He took aim at many of the Christian reforms of Emperor Constantine. However, referencing Christ in his dying words, Julian said, “Thou hast won, O Galilean.” The pagan emperor's last words aptly sum up the previous centuries of Christ's victory of over paganism through His church. Bringing up boys isn't for the faint of heart. Guest host Adam McManus interviews Rhonda Stoppe, author of Moms Raising Sons to Be Men. Drawing on insights from fellow boy-moms and from Scripture, Rhonda reveals why walking with Christ is every mom's key to parenting well. In this first of three conversations with Rhonda, they discuss fascinating Biblical insights for Christian mothers from Jochabed, the mother of Moses, as well as the unnamed mother of David. The second interview featured lessons from Rebekah, the mother of Jacob and Esau, Salome, the mother of James and John, and Mary, the mother of Jesus. And the third interview with Rhonda tackled how moms can encourage their sons to embrace chastity before marriage. Cindi McMenamin, author of When Women Walk Alone, said, “You will be encouraged, enlightened, and empowered to become the mom you've always wanted to be – and to guide your son into becoming the man God intended.” Get Chapter 16 for free at www.NoRegretsWoman.com. Becoming - Real Mean Pour In, Raising Women to Be Men, Angelina Reacts to TD Jakes Comment About the Modern Day Black WomanIn this episode of Becoming with Angelina Watkins, Angelina addresses TD Jakes comment about “We are raising our women to be men.” Is that a fair and accurate statement?Well, this statement has the black culture upset with TD Jakes, the black church, and men. It has appeared that TD Jakes is blaming the woman for the break down in the family because of her attitude. And he is ignoring the fact that the woman is independent and doesn't need a man because the men have left us to fin for ourselves and the children. What about the man? What about what they aren't doing? How does the blame go on just the woman. In this episode, Angelina gives her thoughts on the matter. There are some things in the sermon that TD Jakes said that were accurate and some things taken out of context because people only heard a snippet. She attempts to shed some insight, give some perspective, and hopefully calm a few tempers.Episode Outline[00:00] A sneak peak into the episode[00:18] Music intro[00:26] Introduction [00:59] Real Men Pour In[02:08] Taking things out of context[04:53] Raising our women to be men[07:45] Women increase and multiply it[09:59] Who does the woman become [14:43] We want to act like them [17:44] You teach who you are[18:48] Don't want to hear the truth [20:16] ClosingWhere you are is not where you have to be. To support this ministry financially, visit: https://www.oneplace.com/donate/707/29 When her 6-year-old son, Brandon, had to be life-flighted to the hospital after a severe seizure, Rhonda Stoppe (pronounced STOP-ee), author ofMoms Raising Sons to Be Men,was ready to walk away from the faith when God didn't heal him. But the Lord reminded her of Scripture that says, In everything give thanks: for this is the will of God and Christ Jesus concerning you. Just as the Lord sent the bear and the lion to prepare David to defeat Goliath, she believes that God used Brandon's medical issues as a way for him to spend time at home watching their worship team practice, igniting his interest in music. Brandon went on to become a worship leader in Riverside, CA.
To support this ministry financially, visit: https://www.oneplace.com/donate/707/29 On today's edition of Dr. James Dobson's Family Talk, Rhonda Stoppe (pronounced STOP-ee), author ofMoms Raising Sons to Be Men,warns it is possible for a mother to deny a boy his manhood as he grows up. And if she does, Stoppe says he'll become a mama's boy, and will still be sitting on the couch when he's 40 years old. Especially as a boy enters puberty, he needs to answer to his father, or, if a dad is not in the picture, then a godly man who will affirm him in his masculinity.

Having a solid mentor in your life is a true gift; mentors offer us wisdom from their life experience and help us navigate all that we face. If you don't have a mentor in your life, I encourage you to pray for, and seek one out. But I am also thankful that we live in a time when we can have “virtual mentors”, people we may not know in real life but who we can glean wisdom from all the same! Rhonda Stoppe is one such mentor, and today she is on the podcast offering a whole lot of wisdom and grace. In this episode, Rhonda and I are especially drawing from her book, “Moms Raising Sons to Be Men” which was released in its updated version last year. (However, we are not talking only about raising boys!) Rhonda addresses some of the changing cultural issues of our time and offers some healthy perspective to parents in the thick of it! Whether your kids are young or older, I think you'll find a lot of encouragement in this interview.
