Two gifts from the Lord that are available to every follower of Jesus no matter what they are going through. These two gifts are essential in helping us face the pain of living in a broken and fallen world and fight the temptations that it brings. And without them, we are far weaker and more vulnerable than we should be. Those two gifts are FREEDOM and JOY. Joy is a choice; it's a state of being more than an emotion. The foundation of joy is the promise or assurance of future happiness. Freedom is not doing whatever you want, but instead it's repentance of your sin. Freedom and joy are possible when we embrace the truths of a passage like Psalm 19. In this psalm we see three actions or responses that are essential to living in freedom and joy. 1: Be Amazed by God's Glory (1-6) Psalm 19 tells us that God's glory is so great that His creation never ceases to proclaim it; it is on display every day, every night, all over the world, and to everyone without fail. 2: Be Captivated by God's Laws (7-11) David is doing much more simply telling us that God's laws are good and that we're better off following them than not. You can hear the delight in his voice over the beauty and goodness and rightness of God's laws. 3: Be Ruthless with Sin (12-14) After considering the inexhaustible glory of God in creation, and the perfection and desirability of God's laws, the psalmist asks three things of the Lord: To be declared innocent from hidden faults For God's help to conquer willful sins That his words and thoughts, with God's help, would be pleasing to the Lord Do not underestimate your ability to minimize or justify your sin. Takeaway: The Lord is offering you freedom and joy because of Jesus Christ through the gospel. Psalm 19

In the past few weeks, we have walked you through our individual stories, and what God had to do in both of our lives to bring us to the point of reconciliation. Now we want to take you through the actual reconciliation process and the steps that we learned along the way. On this episode. we talk about the detox process. We found this to be one of the most painful stages to walk through, as we were in a consistent cycle of distrust and failure. We are praying that some of the mistakes we made in this process, will encourage you to BE RUTHLESS in eliminating things in your life that are holding you back from what God has for you, and your marriage. Don't let the flesh win and be willing to do whatever it takes. Don't continue to hold on to facets of your life, places, people, or things that need to be eliminated from your life. And if your hand or your foot causes you to sin, cut it off and throw it away. It is better for you to enter life crippled or lame than with two hands or two feet to be thrown into the eternal fire. And if your eye causes you to sin, tear it out and throw it away. It is better for you to enter life with one eye than with two eyes to be thrown into the hell of fire.” Matthew 18:8-9 ESV As always, we would love to hear from you. When Jonathan Keyser entered the cut-throat world of commercial real estate brokerage, he became the worst version of himself and hated himself because of it. Then one day, he decided he'd had enough. He realized he was sacrificing his values in pursuit of success, and that he needed to stop. He abandoned his ruthless ways and reinvented himself as a selfless leader, which skyrocketed his brokerage firm to eight figures. Jonathan now believes that anyone, in any industry, can experience resounding success through selfless service—which is what this episode is all about. In our conversation, we discuss real estate strategies, company culture, and the most important principles from his new book, You Don't Have to Be Ruthless to Win. How to not get taken advantage of as a selfless leader. Why selflessness is actually an act of self-interest that can lead to extraordinary success for your business. Stop talking about yourself and learn to listen! Why most commercial real estate tenants don't realize how much buying power they have. How commercial real estate tenants can maximize negotiating leverage and get the best possible deal. Where is the real estate market headed and what can the vacancy rates and bottlenecks in supply chains tell us? Why everyone should invest in a coach/mentor. Real quick, THANK YOU to everyone who has subscribed to the 5x a week KALE LETTER!!! I appreciate you more than you know. If you would like to get this letter 5x a week instead of 1, please subscribe now :) Good morning everyone!Aren’t you sick of all the productivity hacks, books, and webinars?Every time I see one of those I’m like…HEY IDIOT, I DON’T WANT TO FIGURE OUT HOW TO CRAM 5,000 MORE TASKS INTO A DAY. I WANT TO WORK LESS. All caps might have been a little dramatic there. But seriously, that’s what we all want isn’t it? The good news is, you can be just as productive and work way less. So much less in fact, you will feel super lazy doing this at first. That’s a good thing. Per usual, I didn’t come up with this all on my own. These are proven concepts from a number of world famous books and articles, all melded together. Concept 1) The 80/20 RuleMany of you know this rule so I’ll go quickly.Basically some dude a 1,000 years ago (i think his name was Pareto)Noticed that 80% of the land in this one place was owned by 20% of the people. And that 20% of the crops produced 80% of the yields at a farm. And on and on. Basically the rule applies to anything. Here’s the key point. 20% of your actions produce 80% of your results. Stop again and read that again above like 7 more times until it really sinks in because it’s true. Did you do it?I’ll wait. ………Before I let that concept sink in above I was..OverworkedUnderproductiveAnd stressed for literally no reason. NOW, all of that is in the past. I’ve actually even taken it a little further than that so let me get onto concept number 2…Concept 2) The Power RuleStole this from one of the best books ever, Peter Thiels “Zero to One” (which I’ve read like 12 times). Basically what he says is that 80/20 is for sissys. It’s more like 99/1. Peter is a billionaire. He founded Paypal with Elon Musk. And now owns a bunch of other companies. And invests in companies too. What he learned early on is that ONE COMPANY in a GROUP of companies he invests in…WILL OUTPERFORM ALL THE OTHERS COMBINED.Here’s another place for you to stop and read what I just wrote again…I’ll wait.…..Basically, let’s say you invested in Facebook + 20 other early stage start up companies back in 2010. It’s almost a guarantee that Facebook will have made you more money than the rest of the 20 companies combined. THE SAME IS TRUE FOR EVERYTHING IN LIFE.1% of your actions will produce 99% of the results. 1 customer segment will be better than 99 others combined. 1 daily habit will have more impact on your happiness than 99 others combined. 1 decision will have longer term affects than 99 others combined. You get the idea, it applies to literally everything. Which leads to concept number 3. Concept 3) EssentialismMaybe I’m just not that smart. But it took 3 books for me to actually make practical this concept. 1) The “4 Hour Work Week” taught me that 80/20 rule above2) “Zero to One” taught me the Power Rule3) And “Essentialism” taught me this last part(No need to link all these authors lol just search it in amazon they are the one with the most 5 star reviews :)Essentialism really is just EXACTLY WHAT THE TITLE IMPLIES. RUTHLESSLY CUTTING OUT EVERYTHING THAT ISN’T “Essential”.Can you see how this ties everything together? If 20% of your actions produce 80% of the results, should’t you try to eliminate that 80% of wasted effort?YES.If 99 of your 100 actions don’t really move the needle, shouldn’t you try to eliminate those 99?YES.“But Kale, how do I actually do that??”That’s a good question, and it’s different for everyone. However, the KEY is this. BE RUTHLESS.I never actually got to be “Lazy” and do “99% less work” until I became ruthless. Not mean. Not cruel.Just 100%, totally HONEST with myself, REFUSING to compromise on my MOST IMPORTANT ASSET, MY TIMEI literally forced myself to SLOW DOWN. For every decision. Every task that I would normally just race off and do without thinking.I would stop and really ask myself. Is this ESSENTIAL right now?Is this ACTUALLY moving the needle?Or am I just “working hard for the sake of working hard?”I can’t really prescribe how to do this for yourself personally. For your individual life, business, marriage, etc. It’s too unique for me to do that. I think the key with me was actually BELIEVING the concepts above, because without fully trusting in it, there is a HUGE temptation to just DO.Just GO.Just work work work work. It’s so tempting because appearing busy is the standard. But it doesn’t have to be. YOU CAN break free. This is a longer article today but I’ll leave you with a story that I think makes it stick home. Stole this from “Hell Yeah or No” by Derek Sivers. Basically, Derek had this gorgeous bike ride he did every day in Santa Monica. Along the coast. Those that have been there know how awesome this bike path is.But Derek wanted a workout, so he would do the 43 minute ride…HEAD DOWN.RED FACED.Huffing and puffing. All out. 43 minutes, every single time. Obviously, Derek got sick of this (like we all do when working out hard for an extended period can I get an amen lol)He started to dread the ride. So one day he vowed to just enjoy it. Head up, he watched the waves crash. He felt the wind in his hair.He smelled the ocean breeze. Wonderful ride, enjoyed the hell out of it, no stress, barely even noticing he was pedaling. When he got home, he looked in disbelief at his watch. 45 Minutes. You’re telling me…That all that huffing and puffing…ALL that stress…Was just for an extra 2 MINUTES?!?!?!Yep. and that’s how it is with EVERYTHING in life. All that extra worry. All those emails that you HAVE to answer. All those customers that you NEED to help, right now. That job that CONSUMES you. Probably isn’t apart of the 1% of things that actually matter. Hell, it’s probably not even apart of the 20%. I hope this helped you, if it did, please share it with 10 of your closest friends and drop me a comment so I know you read or listened this far :) Kale Get on the email list at thekaleletter.substack.com

You’re making it hard for yourself, for the people around you to trust you, if you can’t even walk the talk. Know your values and visions to effectively make the positive change. Don’t skip the most important step. His clients trust him so much because he knows and can deliver. From CEOs to teams to individuals. He doesn’t fail anyone. His advice: always get it done. Learn to value integrity more. Any traumas and/or past mistakes that happened in the past are just that—don’t let them affect your present and your future. What you take from them are lessons, not resentments and regrets. It’s difficult but you have to take a step forward every time. BEST MOMENTS “I’m constantly learning; I’m constantly improving.” “I’m a believer that sales is life!” “I’ve changed all these people’s lives, because I provide them an opportunity to do something—an opportunity to make money, an opportunity to be a part of a vision.” “Everyone has a story.” VALUABLE RESOURCES Know more about Operations X here: https://www.operationsx.com/ Read You Don’t Have to Be Ruthless to Win: The Art of Badass Selfless Service by Jonathan Keyser. 1. Be Crystal Clear on Your Vision and Brand Imagine we bumped into each other on an elevator today… could you tell me, in under 60-seconds, what your brand stands for and what your vision is? If the answer is “No”, this is exactly why you’re struggling to attract the right people to your team. 2. Be Ruthless and Politically Incorrect in Your Job Ads One of my “secrets” to finding and keeping amazing employees on my team is something I call my “politically incorrect job ad”. 3. Embrace The “Hiring Grind” I was recently asked, “How long does it take to get good at hiring?” My honest answer? Forever. 4. Use This Secret to Conduct a Stunning Interview If you want to find the best people for your team, this interview process is how you’ll do it. Start by going to your Tribe, wherever they hang out. Advertise your open position via podcast, your email list, your Instagram stories, everywhere. 5. The #1 Question to Determine When You Should Fire Here’s a simple question that will let you know in 3-seconds whether or not you should let someone on your team go. You ready? 6. How to Fire Gracefully Firing employees can be one of the most stressful tasks a business owner can handle, but I promise it will only make progress toward your ultimate vision that much slower if you try to force a relationship that isn’t working. xxx
“Leadership is service, not position.” -Tim Fargo I used to have a boss that would warn me about the world and that, in order to succeed, you sometimes had to be cut-throat. That kind of thought process was beyond me and I never thought his advice to be very good (about that and many other things). On this episode, I had the pleasure of speaking with Jonathan Keyser. Jonathan is the author of the book, You Don't Have to Be Ruthless to Win, and we talk about a different model of succeeding in today's tough environment. A model of service towards others and helping them achieve. It was a great conversation with a guy that not only talks about service to others, he walks it everyday! I had so much fun talking with him and I know you'll love it too! CHEERS! More on Jonathan... I promise… this episode will change everything for you. “I didn’t want to be poor like my parents, so I became ruthless.” – Jonathan Keyser “If you really care about long term sustainable success, and you want to be a badass, then help as many people as possible.” – Jonathan Keyser Today on Mastering Midlife: How a “stark realization” in childhood set his course for the next 20 years. As an over achiever, Jonathan joined the cutthroat world of Commercial Real Estate, and decided to become one of the most ruthless in the game. Everything changed in a chance break out session at a conference. After that chance encounter, he undid his entire business and focused on “helping people.” The difference between “giving to get,” and being in love with helping people. Why are we “one way” with our family and friends, than feel the need to be different in “business.?” The difference between deprivation and self-control. Jonathan is thrilled to share his journey and mission of selfless service through his highly-anticipated book, You Dont Have to Be Ruthless to Win (hitting bookshelves in mid 2019). A strong supporter of the Conscious Capitalism movement, Jonathan is eagerly working toward the upcoming launch of The Keyser Institute to inspire and equip the next generation of selfless leaders. Jonathan is passionate about helping and empowering others, and has been involved in many different executive and nonprofit organizations, including the Boys and Girls Club of Metro Phoenix and several business leadership organizations in Arizona. He is also spearheading an initiative to connect Arizona business leaders, alongside Arizona Governor Doug Ducey (www.arizonabusinesscommunity.com). On the personal side, Jonathan prioritizes family. He is a loving and devoted father to wife and four children. Jonathan is extremely committed to personal development and self-improvement, and he stays active with mountain/water sports, spin, and hiking. — With a background that instilled concrete values and a strong moral compass, Jonathan Keyser had a difficult decision to make when he entered the world of commercial real estate. It wasn’t necessarily that Keyser had ill will, he just didn’t know how else to succeed in that industry other than to become a ruthless prick. After years of clawing his way up the food chain with one self-serving act after another, Keyser eventually attended a conference that flipped his perspective on building relationships by revealing the success that can result from helping people. Keyser is not hustling an instant-gratification, get-rich-quick scheme. His methodology focuses on creating long-term, sustainable success by nurturing relationships through selfless service. It was a grueling transition for him to make, but Keyser is a completely different person now. He is the founder of a commercial real estate brokerage that is built on the principle of succeeding by helping others succeed, and he trains all of his team members to live out that value in all facets of their lives. In this episode of the Absolute Advantage podcast, Jonathan Keyser joins host Kelly Hatfield to share his journey and discuss the challenges and successes he experienced on the path of selfless service. Keyser breaks down his philosophy and highlights all of the key principles that business leaders can follow to reach a higher level of happiness and success. For my inaugural episode I sat down with Jonathan Keyser. He's an incredible success story - a two-time best-selling author and owner of Keyser Company – named one of Inc. Magazine’s Fastest Growing Private Companies. Jonathan created Keyser Company with the idea in mind of selfless service for others. It's a concept he learned years ago, and has found tremendous personal growth and success of his business and foundation, The Keyser Institute. Jonathan's latest book, You Don't Have to Be Ruthless to Win, is a fantastic book that demonstrates how you can activate selflessness in your life, and how it can create extraordinary, long-term success in your own business. Jonathan's book is endorsed by Governor of Arizona Doug Ducey, John Mackey, CEO of Whole Foods, and Keith Ferrazzi, New York Times Bestselling author. I sat down with Jonathan and asked about how his mindset changed from one of being about personal financial success and what it meant to his company. Some of the questions we dive into are; How did your core values change? How does this selfless strategy weigh on your time and how do you create a strategy to balance the increase of time on you personally? How do you identify people who adopt or already have a similar philosophy? With the philosophy of treating your staff like family, how do you fire "family"? What are the calls-to-action for entrepreneurs to implement in their business? Who were the people who helped you get to where you are? We'll talk about Carol Dweck's book, Growth Mindset being instrumental for both of us and John Ruhlin's book Giftology, and the influence that it had on Jonathan. This is our inaugural episode. I hope you enjoyed it!
