In this episode, I'm sharing three stories from clients who got pregnant within ONE week of each other — and each had completely different journeys. One client is 43 and pregnant with her first child. Another wasn't even ovulating and was spotting for weeks. The third had struggled with anxiety, digestive issues, and low energy. These stories are proof that healing your body from the inside out works—without the BS like Mucinex, LH strips, or fertility teas. I break down what they didn't do, what they actually did, and why you don't need to settle for band-aid solutions that aren't moving the needle. Today, laundry takes just a few buttons and a spin cycle—but behind that convenience lies a remarkable story of innovation and perseverance. In this episode, Procter & Gamble's historian and corporate storyteller Shane Meeker takes us on a journey through the evolution of laundry—from the gritty days of 19th-century soapmaking to the revolutionary invention of Tide, the detergent that took 14 years to create. From the company's origins in the 1800s making soap and candles, we uncover how science, storytelling, and even wartime research reshaped household routines. Plus, the unexpected role P&G played in inventing the TV soap opera, and how today's laundry labs continue to evolve with consumer habits. Welcome to another "This or That" episode! This short, snappy installment investigates the sustainability of three topics you've asked me about, helping you make informed decisions. In this episode, we'll be covering three unusual options: E-readers vs. physical books: Kindles versus your everyday old book. Hand dryers vs. paper towels: I personally find hand dryers annoying. The best type of laundry detergent: There are many options, but I've been seeing a lot of advertising for those strip things, and I have strong opinions about them. In this episode, I share: The pros and cons of e-readers like Kindle versus traditional books from an environmental perspective. Why a physical book has a higher carbon footprint initially but can last decades. The surprising third option for reading that is actually better. Why hand dryers have a lower environmental impact. Why laundry strips are not as eco-friendly as their marketing suggests. How tablets are convenient but may contribute to microplastic pollution. What the worst detergent solution is for the environment. Key Quotes: "If you're a heavy reader, an e-reader is the best option. But just keep that thing for as long as you possibly can." "Paper towels may slightly reduce bacteria on hands compared to air dryers, but the difference is pretty minimal for practical purposes." "These strips don't dissolve as they claim to... it's a pretty big red flag." More Information: I mentioned a few LCAs and information references that you can find here: Comparative study on printed books and e-book reading devices Eco-friendly reading options Life cycle assessment of e-books and printed books in South Africa NPR article on books vs. e-readers Life cycle assessment of hand dryers vs. paper towels ScienceDirect study on hand drying methods MIT study on hand drying methods ResearchGate study on hand drying at the University of Melbourne Springer study on the environmental impact of hand drying methods Life cycle assessment of laundry detergents Study on sustainable laundry detergents Eco-friendly laundry detergent solutions Consumer report on best eco-friendly laundry detergents You can get involved with the podcast online: Find our full podcast via the website here Podcast Instagram here Instagram: Brianne West TikTok: Brianne West LinkedIn: Brianne West For our latest big project, find out more about Incrediballs here: Incrediballs

Tide launches revolutionary laundry solution just in time for Earth Day
Hey Friend I have been making my laundry soap for years because it is super simple and cost effective, but I was so excited that I just learned how to make my own washing soda and that is just as easy, so I wanted to share that with you along with several uses for it. I made laundry soap over 20 years ago and I had to quit because it was gunking up the hoses, so my husband didn't want me making it anymore until I found a good recipe that didn't use the shredded bar of soap, so I found a recipe that didn't use that and I have been using it for quite a while and it seems to work well, but this one is a powder and not a liquid like my other recipe. It is just……1/2 cup epsom salt, 1/1/2 c aluminum free baking soda, 1 ½ c washing soda, ¼ c sea salt and 20-25 drops essential oils and I store mine in mason jarsd which works well. And now to reveal the simple washing soda recipe! It is just a layer of baking soda on a shallow baking dish or pan, put in a preheated 400 degree oven for 30 minutes, cool and store in an airtight container. Can you believe that is all it is? Me either-I could've been making this for several years. I like to buy baking soda in bulk because it has so many uses in the house and we also use it for the goats. In this episode, host Allison Schaaf shares 8 simple ways to avoid toxins in your home. 1. Removing Shoes in the House This is such an easy one that keeps dirt and other things your shoes have picked up out of the house. 2. Reduce Exposure to Cell Phones, Wifi, etc. You can set your wifi on a timer or simply unplug it. We also try to keep our phones away from our bodies, and especially away from our kids. We also have a kill switch that switches off the electricity in our house. The exposure is so constant, I like having some breaks. 3. Cleaning Products I love the brand Force of Nature for household cleaning. You receive a little pouch and make the cleaning solution fresh every week or so. 4. Laundry Detergent We love the Molly's Suds laundry detergent in our home. 5. Cloth Diapers We used cloth diapers for both of our boys and found that it really wasn't that time-intensive. 6. Using Microfiber for Cleaning Microfiber picks up a lot of germs even just with water. 7. Use Cloth Napkins This is more environmental than about avoiding toxins but it is a nice habit that also elevates our meals a bit. 8. Opening the Windows Letting in some fresh air can help clean the air in your home, especially if you use a gas stove, a fireplace, have just cleaned a lot or have recently painted. Even if you have air filters, opening the windows is helpful as well.
