Merriam-Webster's Word of the Day for December 2, 2023 is: hive mind HYVE-mynde noun Hive mind refers to the collective thoughts, ideas, and opinions of a group of people (such as Internet users) regarded as functioning together as a single mind. In biology, hive mind refers to the collective mental activity expressed in the complex, coordinated behavior of a colony of social insects (such as bees or ants) regarded as comparable to a single mind controlling the behavior of an individual organism. // She doesn't need to advertise or publicize—her fans' hive mind is always ready to promote her work. See the entry > Examples: “It was like coming into this big, welcoming family. The cast were so beautiful and generous. The three directors of this season, we were all new and hadn't done past seasons. They were wonderful. It was wonderful, too, to be able to tap into the crew. They have this hive mind that they've all developed after three seasons together.” — Alyssa McClelland, quoted in The Hollywood Reporter, 27 Sept. 2023 Did you know? Sometimes a biological term crosses over into everyday language with a similar, but less specific meaning. Take drone, a word for a stingless male bee: it dates back all the way to Old English and is also used today for (among other things) someone tasked with boring, repetitive work. More recently, hive mind has similarly flown beyond the apiary; what was first used to talk about the ways that colonies of social insects, like bees and ants, behave as a coordinated unit has come to be applied also to the collective thoughts, ideas, and opinions of a group of people seeming to function as a single entity. It's not uncommon nowadays to see someone appeal to the hive mind of a social media website for relationship advice or dining recommendations, for example, or refer to a celebrity's fanbase (like Queen Bey's “Beyhive”) acting together to share the latest buzz about their favorite star.

Not too long after London Lee became a follower of Jesus, he wanted to buy a 500-acre property. It seemed like all ducks were in a row, but he ended up finding out that major business development tools and principles were lacking in order to turn the property into a successful lifestyle center. Over the years, London discovered powerful protocols and methods that all successful companies use today to sell their products. And he discovered something else...Could it be that these principles and methods have their origin in God's word? What can we learn from the Bible about business principles? And what can we do, individually and also corporately as a church, to forward God's cause?Listen to his story and get inspired! There are mainly two ways of doing marketing. We could call it "good" marketing and "bad markeing." Bad marketing is like going to a random person in a restaurant and asking him/her to marry you. Good marketing is more like a courtship relationship...Klinger Lurentt has studied how to do market a in an authentic and truthful way. When Radim Passer got a loan from the bank in 1991, he bought his first property. The rest is history. Since 1996, PasserInvest has primarily been connected with the locality Brumlovka (former BB Centrum) in Prague 4. It is one of the most successful and extensive urban projects not only in the Czech Republic, but in all of Europe from the perspective of development projects built by a single investor. So far, Passerinvest Group has invested almost 16 billion crowns (roughly 691 million USD). 10% of that was invested into non-profit projects that are used by the general public (schools, public greenery, sports facilities and urban infrastructure, safety, ecology). In this episode, Radim shares his personal journey of how it all started, what struggles he had, how he grew up and what changes he had to make in his business after finding God. A personal tragedy in 1998 changed his family's life forever and was used by God in mighty ways. Startup or corporate business? Markus Witte knows both. For more than 20 years, he had worked in large corporations as a product manager. He innovated, met with CEOs and CFOs and used large assets to push the enterprise forward. But then he got the call to leave this safe environment and start his own business from scratch. Markus eventually joined Jesse and a few others, and together they founded Hyve. A corporate business with millions of dollars in revenue looks like a better deal, compared to a startup that struggles to acquire customers. But there are pros and cons in both cases. Markus Witte explains why we might want to leave the corporate world to start our own missional business - and also why (maybe) not. He gives us practical takeaways and shares his personal journey of how God convicted him to leave a billion-dollar company. Welcome back to Season 3 of The Clean Bee Podcast! If you clean your house, then this episode is for you (aka EVERYONE). The truth about the cleaning industry is that it isn't as "clean" as you'd think. IN THIS CONVERSATION WE DISCUSS: + Shreya's story on how and WHY she decided to create her own low toxin, probiotic rich cleaning company + The negative impact that conventional products have on our bodies and homes + Real tips and tricks on how to navigate the cleaning isle, what to look for and creative ways you can use Hyve products all over your home As always, take what resonates with you and leave what doesn't. If Jesus ran your business today, what would it look like? Would it be a selfish enterprise? Would it be a "good" business, advertising how well it is treating its employees and caring for the planet? Or would it be filled with complete selflessness? Is that even possible - to have a business that just cares about others?!Jesse Zwiker, president of Hyve, shares 7 "P"s with you:PurposeProductProcessPlacePeoplePlanetProfitIn each of these areas, we can either conduct our businesses the "selfish" way, the "worldly" way or the "selfless" way. Monet St Juste and his family had a dream: they wanted to buy a property in Florida, open a lifestyle center and share God's love through the health message in Florida. So they decided to raise money for this lofty goal. $190,000 were needed. But when the campaign was over, they barely reached $1,000.So Monet and his wife asked God what to do. One woman was in need of a colon cleanser, so the family developed a product from scratch to help her. This eventually resulted in a missional business that changed hundreds of people's lives and allowed the family to open up a lifestyle center - with way more impact than ever thought before. It still seemed like a normal business day on the island of Okinawa for Tim's grandfather. His family had previously fled to the main land because of the war, but he missed them very much. A friend spontaneously told him, "there is a secret boat that leaves our island tonight. Why don't you take it and go to the main land to visit your wife and children? You haven't seen them for so long." So he left his store and took the secret boat a couple of hours later.Little did Tim's grandfather know that that very night, Japan's WWII opponents would start a devastating bombing attack on Okinawa and entirely level the city and his business. His store was completely destroyed, but his life got saved in miraculous ways. This story is just one of many that Tim Aka shares during this episode. When his mom was reading beautiful bed time stories about Christian missionaries, Craig Harding's secret fear was that God would also call him to go to Africa one day. He loved those stories as a kid, but growing up he realized he would never want to go the jungle to share the gospel. He wanted to do business, get a nice house, drive a good car and get involved in politics. That's what he ended up doing, and he was very successful at it.Little did Craig know that many years later, he would actually end up in Zambia, Africa. When Norbert reached out to Hyve, he just wanted to get some help for his daughter who was struggling with her vegan restaurant. After seeing how God turned that restaurant around within a few months, he didn't hesitate and hired Hyve to coach Hartland's Wellness Center as well. Up until that point, that wellness center had survived only because of generous donations and money from other sources. People were blessed and healed, but thousands of dollars were lost every single month.Hyve stepped in. A sales person was coached, the prices were increased and various marketing strategies helped the business to become profitable. Not only that, they tripled their yearly revenue and now host twice as many health guests as before! God truly worked in miraculous ways. But Norbert and his team aren't done yet. Their goal is to keep expanding. This fall, they're starting "Madison 2.0", a program that educates current college students on how to start their own missional businesses.Check out the wellness center here.If you would like to support new missional entrepreneurs and get involved with Hartland, please email Norbert at: nrestrepo @ hartland.edu. I sit down with Dr. Kaira Wagoner who has discovered a new, simpler, and more effective way to detect honey bee colonies that express varroa hygienic behavior through the detection of unhealthy brood via odors produced by the brood. This discovery will help the industry with her new business detect and identify much more easily and with higher precision, which colonies may manage diseases and pests like the varroa mite extremely effectively. Her process involves spraying compounds that have been synthetically processed to mimic the scents injured brood emit when attacked by mites and other pests and diseases. The hygienic colonies then open each cell up by chewing the capping off and within 2 hours you as a beekeeper will have an identifiable score for each colony. _____________________________________ Links: Contact Dr. Wagoner- email: opterallp@gmail.com Research Paper- https://www.hyperhyve.com/dr-kaira-wagoner-ubo-essay-hygienic-bees Support the show @ Patreon: Mike James- https://www.patreon.com/solarwoof13 Citizen Scientist Kit- https://amzn.to/3Q4hU2u --- This episode is sponsored by · Anchor: The easiest way to make a podcast. https://anchor.fm/app Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/hyve-time/support

When we look at the numbers, we can get disappointed very quickly. Each day, close to 400,000 new babies are born. Yet we only baptize 3,000 new members every day. It looks like we're getting further and further away from finishing the work. Our method of evangelism seems to be broken. How do we solve this problem?Jesse Zwiker, founder of Hyve, explains. Our model doesn't work because we're trying to do it in our free time. Besides our regular job, family, hobbies and friends. So when our pastor kindly asks again to do some mission work on Sabbath afternoon, we are too tired to join. But there is a gigantic number of members — 24 million (as of 2022) who are talented, skilled, innovative and motivated to do God's work. Let's get everyone involved! Let's wake up that sleeping giant!Learn more on how to get involved and become a full-time missionary for God's cause! And don't worry... not everyone has to start his own business. In Matthew 5, Jesus told us to be meek. To walk the extra mile. To turn the other cheek. Yet He didn't call us to be a doormat. With this context in mind, negotiating as missional entrepreneurs seems like a difficult thing to do. How can we negotiate as Christians, not compromising on divine principles?Geeta Chopra explains. She is a TV host, serial entrepreneur, real estate investor, landlord and top negotiator. There are some key elements we can include. By mirroring the last few words the other person speaks, we show empathy. By being silent and pausing long enough to let the other person talk, we show humility and respect. Labeling a high price or a pain point right at the beginning also sets a bench mark for the rest of the conversation. And there is one question you should always ask at the end if you're not quite happy with the way the negotiation went... Get in touch with Geeta Chopra here. This week, host Vincent Bujor shares some practical tips on how to reach your goals as a missional entrepreneur.Back in 1903, Ellen G. White wrote a brilliant piece of literature called "Education." In one of her chapters, she briefly mentions goals as well. And now, almost 120 years later, best-selling books are published that reiterate her inspired words. Here's how you can practically break down your goals. Formulate a SOMEDAY GOAL, then break it down into a 5-YEAR GOAL, followed by a 1-YEAR GOAL, a MONTHLY GOAL, a WEEKLY GOAL and of course a DAILY GOAL. Instead of looking at the big task and feeling overwhelmed, break it down into little pieces and use the right timing to work on your "ONE Thing" as often as you can. Pausing long enough to plan before you start working is crucial. This method or strategy is extremely helpful if you're aspiring to become a missional entrepreneur but you're still employed and need to start your side hustle. It also works well for your existing missional business - focus more, formulate clear goals for your company and stick to them.NEW: HYVE'S BIWEEKLY POSTS!Every other Tuesday, you're getting an email with 3 powerful tips on how to reach more people with your missional business and combine faith & entrepreneurship. Rob Bertholf's newest startup is much more than just an Adventist venture studio: it's an accelerator, a network of homesteads and a witnessing opportunity for seekers. It all started when Rob shared the Gospel with visitors on his farm who were willing to stay and work there for a limited period of time. He discovered that it is possible to build a sustainable network of homesteads by including missional entrepreneurship. Three groups, when working together closely, can generate income, witness to seekers and enjoy country living privileges.
