US equities ended mixed Friday as the Dow dropped 259 points (-0.61%), the NASDAQ rose 0.56%, and the S&P 500 remained flat. Financial stocks came under selling pressure amid concerns over New York Community Bancorp's weak guidance, causing its shares to fall 8.2%, with Bank of America and Wells Fargo also lower, down 1.8% and 1.4% respectively. Tech stocks, however, were buoyed by anticipation of earnings next week, with Microsoft, Alphabet, and Meta rising modestly. Telsa gained 3.34% building on its 22% rally the day before and Nvidia rose 0.8% overtaking Apple as the most valuable company. For the week only the NASDAQ saw a gain, rising 0.15%, Dow down 2.68% and the S&P 500 eased nearly 1%.ASX SPI down 2.COMMODITIESChile's Codelco suspends operations at copper refinery after worker's death.Brazil seals $30bn compensation deal with BHP, Vale over 2015 dam collapse.Rio Tinto signs MOU with China's Nanjing Steel on decarbonisation.Gold firms as Mideast woes, election uncertainty lift prices.Oil settles up, weekly gain 4% as investors weigh Middle East risk and US election.Zinc slides as inventory arrivals ease supply fears.Dalian iron ore climbs after 3-day slide, posts weekly gain. Why not sign up for a free trial? Sunstone Metals Ltd (ASX:STM) managing director Patrick Duffy joins Proactive's Tylah Tully to discuss the maiden mineral resource estimate (MRE) for the El Palmar gold-copper porphyry project in northern Ecuador. The initial estimate from the T1 deposit records 1.2 million ounces of gold equivalent (AuEq), establishing a solid foundation for future exploration. The resource is at surface level and suitable for open-pit mining. T1 deposit contains 64 million tonnes of ore with a grade of 0.60 g/t AuEq, including 0.41 g/t gold, 0.13% copper and 0.7 g/t silver. The MRE was derived from 17,699 metres of drilling. Sunstone Metals has also set an exploration target of 1.0 to 1.2 billion tonnes with the potential for 10 to 27 million ounces of gold and 1 to 3.7 million tonnes of copper. Duffy emphasised the potential for El Palmar to join the ranks of Tier-1 deposits, with similarities to Solgold's Cascabel Alpala and Codelco's Llurimagua deposits in the same region. Early-stage testing shows favourable recovery rates, with gold recovery at 90% and copper at 78%. Ongoing drilling and discussions with strategic partners aim to unlock further value from the project. #ProactiveInvestors #SunstoneMetals #ASX #ElPalmar #GoldCopper #PorphyryProject #MiningExploration #MineralResource #Tier1Discovery #EcuadorMining #OpenPitMining #ExplorationTarget #MetallurgicalTesting #GoldPrices #CopperMining #StrategicPartners #ResourceExpansion #MRE #GoldCopperDiscovery #MiningPotential #PorphyryDeposit #MineralExploration

We start off today with a bit of M&A unhappiness as the once happy takeover of OreCorp (ORR) by Canada's SilverCorp seems to have soured. Next up we had a quick word on Patriot Battery Metals (PMT) drilling from CV9. AIC Mines (A1M) reserve upgrade for Lens 6 at the Eloise copper mine caught our eye as the company looks to expand the plant and lift production over the coming years. Copper behemoth Codelco got a shout out as they elected to spend more at Chuquicamata in the face of declining grades, deeper mines and rising costs. Lastly, WestGold (WGX) topped up their liquidity with a $100m RCF which naturally got the rumour mill going again.
