Detroit Diesel will manufacture electric powertrains for the upcoming Freightliner eCascadia semi truck and Freightliner eM2 medium-duty truck, according to a press release from Daimler Trucks, parent company of both Freightliner and Detroit Diesel." says Green Car Reports: "The Detroit ePowertrain will be available in a single-motor configuration with 180 horsepower and 11,500 pound-feet of torque, and a dual-motor version producing 360 hp and 23,000 lb-ft of torque. The eCascadia and eM2 will also be offered with three battery-pack sizes—210 kwh, 315 kwh, and 475 kwh—using prismatic lithium-ion battery cells. Daimler estimates a maximum range of 230 miles for the eM2 and 250 miles for the eCascadia tractor."   TIME FOR EU TO SET NATIONAL TARGETS FOR EV CHARGERS We, the undersigned, call for the European Commission to urgently review the Alternative Fuels Infrastructure law and propose an ambitious regulation rather than a directive, and to set binding national targets for all vehicle segments. Chuck Blake and Bob Wessels hardly need an introduction, but for the record, Chuck was Detroit Diesel's senior technical support manager when he retired in 2018, and Bob was the assistant chief engineer and a project manager at Caterpillar when he retired in 2006. Together, they charted new territory in fuel economy testing and validation. Under the auspices of the ATA's Technology and Maintenance Council, Bob and Chuck, along with several other partners in crime, basically wrote the book on fuel testing, producing the TMC/SAE Type II (RP 1102) "In-Service Fuel Consumption Test Procedure.” As TMC's Robert Braswell writes, they recognized the need for "real world" testing supported by real science that fleets could believe, use, and understand. In one of the weirdest promotions of all time, Diamond REO shipped a brand new prototype dump truck to Africa in 1967 and pre-ran the entire route of the East African Safari Rally. This was an insane feat of endurance and strength as the rally was basically a 3,000 mile trip on dirt roads with dangerous bridges, narrow roads, mountain terrain, and outright peril. Three guys drove the truck the whole way and they managed to finish the route with an claimed average speed of about fifty miles per hour.  Is that true? Who knows, but there's loads of evidence that these are some of the hardest core dump truck drivers who ever lived. A Detroit Diesel engine and a 13-speed Road Ranger transmission powered the rig over hill and dale. Incredibly a documentary film was made about the whole adventure.  Here's the story of the weirdest dump truck drive of all time. 

What does ‘SCR NOx conversion efficiency low’ mean on Detroit Diesel DD13, DD15, DD16? Fault codes associated with Selective Catalyst Reduction (SCR) NOx efficiency low are the most dreaded codes you will find on the Detroit diesel application and can drive your costs high. Long story short, these fault codes mean that the efficiency in the aftertreatment system, aka the 1-Box, is not operating within the required threshold (70%). This measurement happens between your inlet and outlet NOx

From its headquarters in Portland, Oregon the company has recently been producing some groundbreaking technologies including the DTNA “Super Truck” which improved freight efficiency, and the Inspiration which is the first licensed autonomous commercial truck.
