Alvin shares his experiences with wraps and mobile home park investing, highlighting the strategies and lessons he's learned along the way. Host Ingryd Hernandez guides us through Alvin's story, providing valuable insights for aspiring real estate investors. Highlights: "I like to learn through experience. We lost one of the important English Blues figures this past week. This is a tribute to the late John Mayall. He was influential in bringing three prominent guitarists in the public eye. At different points on his band The Bluesbreakers, he featured Eric Clapton, Peter Green and Mick Taylor. They supported Mayall's musical vision of bringing authentic Blues to England, and in doing so, influenced other bands like The Rolling Stones, Cream, Savoy Brown and others. This is a tribute to his legacy.Alvin Lee and Ten Years After are profiled on the second half of this episode. This week Chris Wright sat down with Loraine Burgon to discuss her life, as described in her recently released book Magical Highs – Alvin Lee & Me. Loraine was the longtime partner of Alvin Lee through his rise to fame as the lead singer and guitarist of Ten Years After, and Chris Wright was the band's manager in the same period. This is a highly unique conversation between two people from the heart of the Woodstock era of Rock'n'roll, exposing what really went on among the stars. Loraine's experience brings home what it was like to be a woman in this time and among individuals like Beatle George Harrison - it wasn't plain sailing that's for sure!Grab yourself a copy of Magical Highs – Alvin Lee & Me by Loraine BurgonTopics of the conversation:- Coming from Nottingham - Being the longtime partner of Alvin Lee, leader of Ten Years After - Woodstock 1969 - Led Zeppelin- Life on tour- Sexual misconduct in the music and fashion industries- George Harrison's entitlement- Magical Highs and life unravellingWe'd love to hear what you think of the episode at email@wrightonthenail.fm, or get in touch if you just want to say hi!Thanks for listening,WOTN Team 'I Hit The Nail Right On The Head' by Billy Bremner. © Fridens liljor/Micke Finell.Rock around the clock productions AB.www.rockaroundtheclock.co This episode was produced by Tom PlattsThis podcast is published by New Thinking: www.newthinking.com Explore New Thinking podcasts via our website: www.newthinking.com/podcasts
On this weeks episode, we dive deep into the history of British rock legends Ten Years After and discuss their iconic 1971 album "A Space In Time." Their first record for new label Columbia showcased a notable shift towards a more acoustic and melodic direction compared to their previous works. Alvin Lee, widely regarded as the Flash Gordon of guitar, delivered some of his most memorable guitar licks throughout the record. This collection also includes the instantly recognizable number, "I'd Love To Change The World."
The Inflation Reduction Act of 2022 created two new ways to monetize renewable energy tax credits (RETCs): 1) transferability, the ability to transfer certain RETCs as if they were separate property, and 2) elective pay or direct pay, the ability for certain tax-exempt owners of renewable energy property to report certain RETCs on their tax returns, and in turn, have the Internal Revenue Service refund the tax credits. Treasury recently held separate public hearings on their proposed guidance for transferability and for elective pay. In this week's episode, Michael Novogradac, CPA, and Novogradac partner Alvin Lee, CPA, discuss where the industry stands on using transferability and elective pay, when renewable energy property owners might consider the various options and what types of stakeholder questions remain.

Da spielten Frank Zappa and the Mothers of Invention.

Más tarde, ese mismo año, editaron el sencillo It's a Long Way to the Top (If You Wanna Rock 'n' Roll), que se convirtió en su himno. En otoño de 1977, publicaron Let There Be Rock. In an era brimming with instant gratification, some things are worth the wait. This is an apt takeaway from our chat with photographer Charles Daniels about his long-outdated film from the legendary Boston Tea Party and other 60s-era music venues, rarely processed until recently. Joining Daniels in conversation is his long-time partner Susan Berstler, and Gerald Freyer from Film Rescue International, the unique image processing and digitization specialists entrusted with his mother lode of 4,000 plus rolls. Listen in as Daniels tells of his rise from club denizen to emcee to cultural ambassador, introducing 60s-era British invasion rockers to America, with a Leica, two Nikons and a mic in hand. Berstler describes how the unprocessed rolls stockpiled in their home became a COVID project, which then went viral after the launch of a Go-Fund-Me campaign. After a break, Freyer explains how Film Rescue International's unique processing and scanning technologies can breathe new life into lost and found film, saving untold stories from oblivion. Freyer also recounts his epic drive from Saskatchewan to Somerville (and back!) to safely collect the film for processing, without risking x-rays or other shipping hazards. As Daniels notes during the show, “For years, I never really developed any film, but I was shooting all the time. It was just there, and then at some point I realized that I needed to bring some of this older stuff to light.” With a nod to Daniels's 80th birthday on November 30th, the pictures may have been a long time coming—but what a fabulous gift to photographers and music aficionados alike! After moving to Boston's Roxbury neighborhood with his family in the 1950s and teaching himself photography with a camera he found in his parent's closet, Charles began capturing whatever caught his eye on city streets and in the era's legendary music venues. Soon he was serving as emcee for the bands, which provided unique access and strong friendships. This led to Lear Jets and tours with the likes of Rod Stewart, Ron Wood, and the Rolling Stones. Since his start in rock-and-roll, Charles has expanded his photography to embrace a wide range of subjects from music and fashion to dance, performance, and everything in between. Susan Berstler has a long history as a visual artist, curator, and arts producer, deeply immersed in the vibrant arts scene of Somerville, Massachusetts. One of her primary interests is transformative events and media, especially within public art. Her passion for this medium is further enhanced by her work as an Emerging Technology Specialist for Creative Technologies at Harvard University's Cabot Science Library. After a small grant from the Somerville Arts Council allowed her to begin developing Charles's treasure trove of film, the Go-Fund-Me campaign set up by a friend quickly went viral, raising more than $70,000 to date. Susan was referred to the company Film Rescue International, which became an ideal solution for film processing and creating high-resolution archival files from the negatives. At present, she is also in discussions with publishers and university archives to identify a final home for this unique image collection. Gerald Freyer is a technically trained photographer who also studied folklore, monument preservation and cultural history at the University of Bamberg in Germany. After working as a research assistant in museums, he became a consultant for digital imaging pioneer Phase One. Since 2007, Gerald has trained museum and archive staff in the use of high-end digitization systems, completing both archival and 360-degree photography projects for international museums and cultural institutions. In 2021, he joined Film Rescue International to work on digitization projects for its clients. LP como Fly on the wall (1985), Who Made Who (1986) o Blow Up Your Video (1988) reiteraban los sonidos de pasadas entregas, hecho mal visto por un sector de la crítica. Más tarde, ese mismo año, editaron el sencillo It's a Long Way to the Top (If You Wanna Rock 'n' Roll), que se convirtió en su himno. En otoño de 1977, publicaron Let There Be Rock. Este disco resucitó temas como «You Shook Me All Night Long» y «Ride On». It's a Long Way to the Top (If You Wanna Rock 'n' Roll)». Today on Too Opinionated, we talk with singer-songwriter H. Jack Williams! You'd be hard-pressed to find a life, a career, or a body of work quite like that of singer/songwriter/performer/composer H. Jack Williams. Jack himself credits equal parts luck, talent, and tenacity. “My whole life, I've gone out and gotten stuff done,” he says. “I think I have unique emotional connections within me, and I've always found a way to make that connection musically.” But for one of Nashville's hardest-working songwriters and most in-demand co-writers – and now with flourishing work in film and television – it's been a one-of-a-kind 40+ year ride with some of the biggest names in Folk, Rock, and Country. And in many ways, he's just getting started. Raised in the tiny town of Eureka, Florida, Williams began writing songs shortly after his 1971 discharge from the US Marines Force Recon. It was while working in Atlanta as a trained Escoffier chef and moonlighting as a roadie that Williams went after his first break by knocking on Richie Havens' hotel room door. “Banged on it all night long,” Jack laughs, “until he opened the door and I handed him a cassette.” The Woodstock icon invited Jack to New York City to be his opening act, eventually playing on and producing the demo that got Jack a $500 advance from Clive Davis (who insisted on first playing Jack the demo of ‘Mandy'). By 1974, Jack was back cooking in Atlanta when he spotted a tour bus belonging to The Who. Still, in his chef whites, Williams approached the road crew and boldly asked for an introduction to Roger Daltrey. “I knew Roger loved songwriters,” Jack says, “and Pete Townsend knew songs.” Williams was ushered backstage that night and spent the next few months on tour with the band, eventually signing a deal – his first – with the publishing company owned by Daltrey, Townsend, and Who manager Bill Curbishley. For two years and dozens of unmentionable road stories, Jack was mentored by one of the greatest acts in rock history. Towards the end of his Who deal, Williams got a phone call from Ken Hensley, lead vocalist and primary songwriter of UK proto-metal rockers Uriah Heep, who invited Jack to move to London as the band's first outside in-house songwriter. Jack jumped at the invite, and amid opening UK shows for Havens and demo sessions with neighbors like Alvin Lee and George Harrison, Uriah Heep would record four of Jack's songs for the Gold albums Innocent Victim and Firefly. But it was a group of fellow small-town Florida boys that triggered the next chapter of Jack's career. “Lynyrd Skynyrd came to London for their Knebworth concert”, Jack explains. “I got to know the band, played Ronnie Van Zant some of my songs, and he suggested I come to Florida and be part of the Southern Rock scene.” Williams moved back to the states, founding the Sarasota-based band Streets Of Ice, landing cuts with acts like Blackfoot and Molly Hatchet, and writing with Gregg Allman. Dickie Betts became a good friend and began producing the Streets Of Ice project. But when the band imploded just before signing their major label deal, Betts suggested that Jack's songwriting skills could find a full-time home in Nashville. With a $50 loan and a one-way bus ticket, Williams landed in Nashville and signed a publishing deal with The Oak Ridge Boys, who soon recorded Jack's songs ‘Seasons' and ‘Everybody Wins'. Jack then had his first major hit, co-writing – with The Allman Brothers Band's Warren Haynes – Gregg Allman's ‘Just Before The Bullets Fly. But when the mid-‘90s Country Boom began to fade, Williams returned to his culinary background, opening restaurants in North Carolina, Memphis, and Olympia, running kitchen teams on research vessels in the Aleutian Islands and the Azores, and with supply ships during the Gulf War for which he earned a Medal of Bravery from President Bush. “I'd also played clubs in Seattle, which is how Leonard Chess signed me to a writing deal with Chess Records,” Jack adds with a laugh. “So I guess we can add ‘Blues Artist' to the list, too.” Williams returned to Nashville in 2005, owning a catering business while landing cuts with artists that included Montgomery Gentry, Black Stone Cherry, and on the Miracles From Heaven soundtrack. He signed a new publishing deal with Lynn Gann Music Enterprises in 2015, scoring even more cuts that included Canadian artist Aaron Pritchett's Top 10 hit ‘Dirt Road In ‘Em'. “When it comes to commercial radio stuff, I can write like a gunfighter,” Jack says. “But at a certain point, I couldn't write another line about drinking beer in the back of a truck with a girl. I needed to find the soul of my music again.” Jack began writing songs reflective of his lifetime of not only struggles but his continued sense of hope. He would soon – in more ways than one – find his voice. “Pete Townsend once told me, ‘Always hire a great singer',” Jack explains. “I never believed my vocals were strong, which is why I always used other singers for my demos. But I began participating in singer/songwriter nights here in Nashville and got the kind of reaction I'd never received before. When I started to sing what's in my heart, everything began to change.” Williams soon began co-writing with Academy Award winner Kevin Costner, whose band Kevin Costner & Modern West had recorded two of Jack's songs (including the Top 20 hit ‘Love Shine'), leading Costner to cut four more Jack tracks for his 2019 Tales From Yellowstone album. Jack signed with Anthem Entertainment for additional film & television work and has since collaborated with award-winning Welsh composer John Hardy. And after nearly five decades of music and adventure fit for a dozen lives, his 2020 emotional gut-punch EP Already Dead – produced by Brothers Osborne's Adam Box – became H. Jack Williams' first-ever solo release. “I feel like a 20-year-old singer/songwriter again,” Jack says, with the combination of fortitude and poignancy that still defines his life, his career, and his very best work to come. “I'm a survivor, and I keep pushing forward. I believe that my A-game has just begun.” Want to watch: YouTube Meisterkhan Pod (Please Subscribe)
Unlike other community development incentives that typically have seasoned developers and investors, renewable energy transactions often have developers and/or investors who are new to tax incentives. It's critically important that investors and developers understand the book accounting or generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) and implications of their proposed and existing investments. In this episode of Tax Credit Tuesday, Michael Novogradac, CPA, and Novogradac partner Alvin Lee, CPA, discuss how an understanding of these issues can help a developer of a renewable energy project raise the optimum amount of cash for equity and help both the developer and investor avoid any unwanted accounting surprises.

Performing with Prince & The New Power Generation is one of highlights among those encounters.
As it always is when Daniel and Alvin are together, this episode gets pretty chaotic. Lots of laughs and half finished sentences as Daniel and Alvin shares about their beautiful bromance and horrible gross stories about their time as roommates.
THE LEE BOYS are one of America's finest “sacred steel” ensembles and have been bringing their joyful noise around world for over 10 years. This family group consists of three brothers, Alvin Lee (guitar), Derrick Lee and Keith Lee (vocals) along with their nephews, Alvin Cordy Jr. (7-string bass), Earl Walker (drums) and Roosevelt Collier (Pedal Steel) and Chris Johnson, a young pedal steel player from Miami, that is making quite a name for himself. The band's new album ‘Live On The East Coast' continues the Lee Boys reputation of playing eclectic, soulful music that incorporates elements of rock, country, R&B, jazz, hip-hop, funk and more. GRADY CHAMPION is a 21st Century Bluesman. This Mississippi-based songwriter/entertainer/musician has been captivating audiences for more than two decades. Champion has been the winner of prestigious Grammy and Blues Music Awards as well as the recipient of the 26th International Blues Challenge. His new CD, ‘Steppin' In', is a tribute to legendary Texas bluesman ZZ Hill who died 35 years ago. Hill particularly inspired CHAMPION because Hill's combination of blues & soul stylings helped to restore the blues to modern black consciousness.
