Intergenerational indebtedness has been the two-ton elephant left largely undiscussed in American political dialogue. The United States is $36 trillion in debt and currently has an additional estimated $78 trillion additional unfunded commitments? Is this OK? Should these realities be more highly prioritized by Congress? And what about intergenerational indebtedness and inheritance when it comes to our personal lives? Join Kevin as we dive into the topic of intergenerational indebtedness! // Download this episode's Application & Action questions and PDF transcript at whitestone.org.

Indebtedness, Moral Obligations, and Discernment Petrina discussed the concept of indebtedness in the context of both financial and moral obligations, using Proverbs Chapter 6 as a guide. She emphasized the importance of being cautious when making promises or pledges to others, as it can lead to a sense of indebtedness. She also highlighted the need to work hard to fulfill obligations and avoid unnecessary debt. Furthermore, she warned against the negative consequences of certain behaviors, such as conceit, dishonesty, violence, deceit, and causing unnecessary conflict. She encouraged discernment in choosing the company we keep and the actions we participate in.   Let's Talk About Proverbs Chapter 6 – Indebtedness Money and Morality Do You Have a Couple of Minutes - Inspiring Topics to Help You Think, Learn, Grow, and Live Fulfilled www.petrinagooch.com Book Publications available on Amazon, Kindle and Audible: ·        Leading Self, Leading Others – 20 Inspiring Topics for Personal and Team Leadership and Professional Growth ·        LiftOff to Landing – Revealing Stories of Strangers in Flight – Flight 2023 https://www.amazon.com/author/petrinagooch #DoYouHaveACoupleOfMinutes #Inspire #Think #Learn #Grow #Fulfilled #LiveFulfilled #Liberate #Illuminate #Amplify #PositiveChange #Leadership #Mentor #Coach #Develop #Lead #Listen #Encourage #Feelings #Intent #Expectations #PetrinaGooch #Petrina #TakeTheGoodTakeTheBad #Perfection #Imperfections #decisionmaking #relevance #approachable #collaboration #understanding #progress #BeNice #BeRespectful #BuildOthersUp #confidence #Courage #help #change #TakeAction #Burnout #RediscoverYou #AuthenticAlignment #Proverbs

They review the reasons why some African countries are defaulting on debt repayment and why others have chosen to prioritize debt servicing over the provision of public goods. The discussion highlights the systemic injustice of the excessive cost of debt whereby African countries pay more than their rich counterparts. They propose the restructuring of the international financial system to reduce the cost of borrowing and help mitigate the economic fragility that affects developing nations. They encourage African countries to speak in one voice to increase their leverage as rule-makers.

Alex uncovers the exploitation hidden from view and the ongoing real-world costs for the developing world. - - - - The IMF and World Bank are two major multinational institutions that have perhaps shaped the workings of the global economy more than any other. The issue is that, over the course of the past few decades, the IMF's and World Bank's roles and impacts have largely been forgotten. Whilst casual observers are distrustful of the IMF and World Bank, in the main, people's concern is vague, lacking facts or evidence. It's hard to know why this is, but it's worth noting that internally produced IMF and World Bank content dominates google search results at the expense of independent content. And yet, the impact of the IMF and World Bank has been catastrophic for many developing nations. Specifically, it has been problematic for those outside the gilded circles of power in such countries who have had to carry the burden of debt through significant assaults on public services, food security and other fundamental quality-of-life provisions. The reason? Neocolonialism. Extraction of resources from the periphery for the benefit of the centre. Indebtedness has been the tool used. A Ponzi scheme of debt relief to support debt servicing, designed to keep countries subservient to those controlling the IMF and World Bank. The cost is dictatorships, corruption, environmental degradation, and the destruction of potentially millions of lives. It is uncertain whether Bitcoin can fix this. But, it acts as a powerful disincentive and disruption by weakening the exorbitant privilege of the dollar and enabling the innocent people subjugated by the IMF and World Bank and their own elites, an opportunity to opt-out of this system. Our role within Bitcoin is to discuss this history and help free those still bound by its constraints.

An iconic Christian hymn encourages listeners who may be “tempest-tossed” or otherwise burdened to “Count Your Blessings.”Jenae Nelson, who has conducted research on indebtedness with Brigham Young University professors Dr. Sam Hardy and Dr. Dianne Tice, bolsters this claim. In a yearlong study, Nelson found that recognizing what God has done, and feeling an indebtedness toward Him, doesn't create feelings of obligation, but rather leads to increased overall happiness, well-being and even prosocial behavior. Nelson received her doctorate from Brigham Young University and is now a postdoctoral research fellow at Baylor University and a research affiliate at Harvard University. She joins this episode of the Church News podcast to discuss her research and share how cultivating gratitude and indebtedness can improve a person's life and deepen his or her connection to God. The Church News Podcast is a weekly podcast that invites listeners to make a journey of connection with members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints across the globe. Host Sarah Jane Weaver, reporter and editor for The Church News for a quarter-century, shares a unique view of the stories, events, and most important people who form this international faith. With each episode, listeners are asked to embark on a journey to learn from one another and ponder, “What do I know now?” because of the experience. Produced by KellieAnn Halvorsen. We'll be discussing a paper entitled Sense of Indebtedness Toward Parents: Korean American Emerging Adults' Narratives of Parental Sacrifice by Hyeyoung Kang and Reed W. In my experience on the meditation cushion, the web of indebtedness is exactly what we innately become aware of as our meditation practice moves into deeper cycles. It begins as we enter into a reciprocal relationship with our meditation practice.   We give our time, energy and attention to our practice, and it responds to us with greater awareness, insight and warmth… The practice becomes sweeter because we give ourselves to it.   And eventually, this spills over into our everyday actions. Join me for today's mini meditation practice and notice how it feels to consciously ‘give' to your meditation practice. These mini meditations are meant to support a daily home practice. Tune in every Monday to find your practice for the week! Full episodes are released every Thursday for a longer, deeper practice. You can practice with me live each Monday as I record this podcast.
