2026 Fantasy Football Running Back Rankings: Top 12 Debate The top of the running back board looks loaded, but agreement disappears quickly once the Dynasty Nerds crew gets past the biggest names. Rich Dotson, Matt O'Hara, and Garret Price break down their top 12 running backs for 2026 and debate which stars have a real path to finishing as the overall RB1. Listen to This Episode:

You can walk into a draft with a perfect plan. Targets identified, sleepers ranked, a strategy for every slot. And then three rounds in, none of it survives contact. Kendall Valenzuela, Peter Overzet and Dwain McFarland break down two real drafts from Draft Nation, pick by pick, including one where almost nothing went the way Dwain wanted it to. First up is the 16-round best ball draft where Dwain sat at pick 11 with Pete right ahead of him at 10 — which meant getting sniped repeatedly by the guy sitting next to him. They walk through every stage of the build: Ashton Jeanty, Kenneth Walker and Colston Loveland to start for Dwain against Jonathan Taylor, Chase Brown and Garrett Wilson for Pete. Kendall and Pete recap a $350 high-stakes managed league, 20 rounds with a third-round reversal, and Pete explains exactly what changes when real money is on the line instead of best ball. Kendall opened Jaxon Smith-Njigba, Saquon Barkley, Rashee Rice, Tetairoa McMillan and Josh Jacobs from pick 7; Pete went Christian McCaffrey, Justin Jefferson, Trey McBride, Jameson Williams and D'Andre Swift from pick 11. Turns out teams still love elite backs when those elite backs are the difference between having an offense and just punting with extra steps.And it's not just the backs getting paid. Zay Flowers, Darnell Wright, Matthew Bergeron, Stefon Diggs, and Henry To'oTo'o are all part of the contract conversation too, giving the guys plenty to argue about when it comes to who got paid properly, who got overpaid, and which team is going to be pretending this was genius when the cap sheet starts looking like a crime scene.Then there's Aaron Donald, because apparently retirement is just a suggestion now. Donald worked out for the Rams this week, creating even more speculation that he could come back and join a Los Angeles defense that already added major firepower. If Donald really returns, the Rams instantly go from interesting to terrifying, and Sean McVay officially loses the right to complain about anything.Micah Parsons also gives the show a big injury-return storyline. He's recovering from ACL surgery, and Week 6 against the Cowboys has been floated as a realistic return window. What exactly did the Detroit Lions pay Jahmyr Gibbs? The Lions committed to three years, up to $75,750,000 with $51,500,000 guaranteed. Jeff Risdon also noted the structure as three years 67.5 that includes 51.5 guaranteed and can reach 75.75. That places Detroit Lions running back Jahmyr Gibbs at the top of the position on a per-year basis. How did the market set up this number? Indianapolis Colts running back Jonathan Taylor signed this morning for two years and $44,000,000, and Atlanta Falcons running back Bijan Robinson was referenced at up to $75,000,000. Detroit waited for others to set the market, then finalized Gibbs at the top without acrimony or (much) drama. Why was there never real tension around this deal?
