Since its founding in 2013, JobNimbus has quietly transformed the way contractors manage their businesses. Now, with a staggering $330 million in Series B funding, the company is making waves in the trades and asking big questions about where the industry is headed. In this hard-hitting episode, John Dye sits down with Ben Hodson, CEO of JobNimbus, to uncover how this record-breaking investment drives the next chapter for contractors. They discuss the rise of automation and AI, the shifting role of tradespeople in an increasingly business-dominated industry, and how JobNimbus is fighting to put the power back in the hands of those who build. Has business killed the soul of the trades? Or are we on the verge of a revolution that will bring it back? Ben and John explore the answers and offer a bold vision for contractors' future. Don't miss this game-changing conversation.

A coaching framework called RESPECT. 4:20 Introduction to Jared and Matt. 5:40 Coaching is about creating culture. The origin for the word "culture" in Latin, and means to care. So culture really is caring about people. 6:50 What is coaching? 7:45 Both Jared and Matt are certified in RESPECT coaching styles. There are 7 different coaching styles you can use. You can use many styles with the same person. 12:50 R in RESPECT stands for the RALLIER style of coaching. This style is the driver. Setting goals and measurables. Ways to move the coachee forward. 16:30 The E in RESPECT is the EDUCATOR. It's a lecture or education to teach a skill or fill in knowledge. General conference is all about educating. Parenting your child is teaching them and making sure they are learning. 19:20 The S is for the STRATEGIST style of coaching. It's finding solutions to problems. They are addressing a problem. 21:10 The P stands for the PROVOCATEUR. This style of coaching makes people squirm the most. It's poking a hole in someone's logic and it's often speaking the unspeakable truth. Jesus was a great example of a provocateur. 26:00 The second E in RESPECT is EXPLORE. Asking questions that even you as the coach don't know the answer to. 29:20 The C in RESPECT stands for the CONFIDANT. The opposite of the provocateur. They ask about feelings and how the coachee interprets things. It's like a warm blanket and validation. It's about listening to work things out. 32:30 The T stands for TRANSFORMER. You can use this when somebody has gone through something difficult and you can have them reflect on that. This style of coaching can be used to help people see either how far they've come or where they could be in six months. 36:00 When you are coaching, you have to ask questions instead of making statements. 38:00 For the leader that wants to use these styles of coaching but feels overwhelmed: You don't have to be an expert. 41:50 Jared and Matt coach Kurt as an example of the different styles of coaching and questions that you can use. 50:00 When picking a style of coaching, ask yourself, what do I know about the coachee and their circumstance? Start with a style and if it doesn't work then pivot to a different style. Explorer can be a great style to start with. 52:20 What would be a good Provocateur question to use as church leaders? These questions are hard questions that come from a place of love. 57:45 Another thing that we can do in coaching is make questions direct or indirect. 59:00 A style that people struggle with is Transformer. However, Transformer can be a way that we turn the hard things that we are going through in life and learn to see them as blessings. 1:05:40 Resources for learning more about RESPECT ...

After spending time as a touring musician and finishing degrees in business and software systems from the University of Washington, he started his first company in 2000. After leaving the day-to-day operations of Venafi, Ben proceeded to start nine companies, with the most recent being JobNimbus, a software and growth solution for roofing and home exterior contractors. JobNimbus was created after Ben and his two friends found themselves in the orbit of a project aimed at accountability for homeowners who needed roof replacements. Their drive for problem-solving and helping others lead them to develop this creative solution.

How to implement technology headache-free. If you took a survey of contractors right after the implementation of their first CRM or Project Management tool, many of the responses you'd get would sound something like: - That was awful - My head nearly exploded - Truly the worst 6 months of my life for me and my team - I never want to go through that again Technology and software are supposed to make your business life simpler and more efficient. So why do most entrepreneurs talk about the adoption period like veterans talk about the war or mothers talk about childbirth? This whole “tech overwhelm” thing, especially for contractors, is something we've been wanting to get some answers on for a while now, which is why we are so excited to have Ben Hodson on the show today. Ben is the Co-Founder and CEO of JobNimbus which is one of our favorite pieces of contractor software, and we thought who would be better to teach us how to implement technology headache-free, than the guy who builds it. We're fans of Ben and JobNimbus for a couple of reasons. It's super customizable and integrates easily with everything. It's relatively simple to implement compared to other CRM's and they have a dynamite customer support team that is super hands on. So if you've purchased a CRM and barely used it, if you've been frustrated by your tech stack or lack thereof, or if you're still managing your business on a spreadsheet but you're ready to take the leap… this episode is a must listen. By the end of this episode you'll know: - The difference between contractors that struggle to implement new systems vs those that find it pretty easy - How to use an “I.C.E.” decision making matrix to ensure you select the right CRM to begin with - How to avoid the common “employee pushback” scenario and foster adoption of any new tech system - How to identify all of the problems you face in business as one of two factors which then become easier to solve - The elements of the trades and contracting sectors are ripe for disruption and what you need to be getting ready for - The things that a serial CEO Ben Hodson wished he had learned earlier when running businesses Watch the episode on PCA Overdrive PCA Overdrive is free for members. JobNimbus is changing the game in an innovative way by adopting a “proactive recruiting method.” While many candidates are still brought in an old-fashioned way, JobNimbus has taken it a step further by actively looking for those who would be a good fit within their company. “If we know that we have a candidate, even if I don't have a job for them, but we know they're a cool person, they've got a skill set we might be able to use or they could be a good fit there, they can come to our weekly all-hands meeting. It's only 30 minutes long. Our CEO gives a very transparent and amazing presentation about the state of the company. And afterward, they have lunch with us. It's on the company, obviously. And then we'll introduce them not only to the people they would potentially work with but just anybody that might happen to be there. So they can see it, they can taste it, and they can be a part of the culture for 30 minutes.” Brad Anderson, CEO of TechBridge, a Salt Lake City IT staffing company, and Bobby Glen James, Author, Speaker, and founder of BoTecha IT Support, along with guest speaker Nick, a JobNumbus representative, discuss what companies like JobNimbus look for in potential candidates. If you're looking for ways to get ahead during the interview process, here is some key insight into how you can stand out in the tech industry! Hear what these tech experts have to say on the subject in this week's episode of the New IT podcast, “Who is JobNumbus?” For more information on IT staffing and recruiting in Salt Lake City, visit https://techbridgeinc.com

So why do most entrepreneurs talk about the adoption period like veterans talk about the war or mothers talk about childbirth? This whole “tech overwhelm” thing, especially for contractors, is something we’ve been wanting to get some answers on for a while now, which is why we are so excited to have Ben Hodson on the show today. Ben is the Co-Founder and CEO of JobNimbus which is one of our favorite pieces of contractor software, and we thought who would be better to teach us how to implement technology headache-free, than the guy who builds it. We’re fans of Ben and JobNimbus for a couple of reasons. It's super customizable and integrates easily with everything. It's relatively simple to implement compared to other CRM’s and they have a dynamite customer support team that is super hands on. So if you’ve purchased a CRM and barely used it, if you’ve been frustrated by your tech stack or lack thereof, or if you’re still managing your business on a spreadsheet but you’re ready to take the leap… this episode is a must listen. By the end of this episode you’ll know: The difference between contractors that struggle to implement new systems vs those that find it pretty easy How to use an “I.C.E.” decision making matrix to ensure you select the right CRM to begin with How to avoid the common “employee pushback” scenario and foster adoption of any new tech system How to identify all of the problems you face in business as one of two factors which then become easier to solve The elements of the trades and contracting sectors are ripe for disruption and what you need to be getting ready for The things that a serial CEO Ben Hodson wished he had learned earlier when running businesses See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

Dan and Cannon talk about how the CRM (customer relations manager) they're using, JobNimbus, has built in automation. It can send inner office emails to let others on your team know where a customer is or what needs to be done for a customer to move them further down the pipeline towards a final sign. Combine those automations with a VoIP (voice over internet protocol) like Simplii, which Dan and his business the Fence King uses, and now your emailing and texting customers with delayed follow ups without having to do any work. Automation Polls Show Text/SMS are more affective than emails but emails shouldn't be counted out, they are still effective. They also say, emails are much more affected IF, you couple a text/sms with an email. e.g. "Hey Mrs Smith, we just emailed over your proposal, it should be in your inbox. Let me know if you didn't receive it! We look forward to hearing back. Today's episode of The New IT Podcast looks at how JobNimbus is disrupting the tech industry by creating a CRM for the niche market to help streamline processes and ensure fewer losses. By bringing technology to a pen and paper marker of home exterior contractors, they are enabling a more optimized and innovative process. “Most of our clients literally come over from using pen and paper, like I mentioned. So we're teaching about technology in general, not just JobNimbus. How do they engage with technology? And how do they use it to be more efficient to create a better experience for their customers? So we're just changing everything about how they view their business and how the industry works.” Brad Anderson, CEO of TechBridge, a Salt Lake City IT staffing company, and Bobby Glen James, Author, Speaker, and founder of BoTecha IT Support, along with guest speaker Johnny from JobNimbus, discuss how they are using technology to provide a better CRM for home exterior contractors. We record a quick episode from The Roofing Academy Booth at the International Roofing Expo in Dallas, TX with Jake Dempsey from JobNimbus.
Randy has built a business on the core principles of Faith, Family, Honesty, and Integrity. With his commitment to challenging our industry's status quo and providing opportunity for others, Randy has built an amazing roofing company that continues to grow exponentially while providing an amazing quality of life for everyone involved. He has hired and trained over 50 people and has built systems and processes for nearly every aspect of roofing. Building a company that can run itself has allowed him the opportunity to focus on helping others succeed the same way. Show Highlights: Randy provides an overview of how the roofing industry found him. Growing your business with or without a storm and being prepared to dominate the market when a storm does happen is a mindset shift. Randy says that doing the right thing and making sure that you're providing a higher value service to customers than what they're paying for will get you outstanding reviews. How you handle yourself and the processes you have in place when things do go wrong is how you separate yourself from the competition. Good reviews are one of the most powerful sales tools your company can have. The majority of bad reviews are because of a lack of communication, Making things right can have a big impact in changing a bad review to a good one. Incorporating encouragement, recognition, and celebrating into the work culture helps to create a family environment for your business. Randy shares why establishing core values in your company is essential. “People don't quit companies, people quit people.” If you're experiencing a high turn-over rate, trouble hiring, or an unhappy culture, start by taking a hard look at yourself. Do you ever feel that your business is out of control? You're not alone. Today I talk with Jake Dempsey of JobNimbus CRM about getting your business organized and under control by using a CRM program. No more leads falling through the cracks. Jake lays out a simple process that will increase your sales, reduce your stress, get you, additional happy customers. A lot has changed with Dave since he was last on the show, which was on episode 29, so tune in to learn more about Dave, JobNimbus CRM, and the upcoming JobNimbus Solution Summit October 22-23, in Austin, TX. What you'll hear in this episode: Jake defines what a CRM (Customer Resource Management) is, what problems it solves, and why you might need one. A Customer Resource Management system keeps track of your customers and your jobs. Jake says If you have ever had to answer the phone and have a customer ask why his job fell through the cracks, you need to use a CRM. Jake says a CRM not only keeps you organized and efficient, but it helps with accountability. According to Jake, nearly 60-70% of companies still operate from Excel spreadsheets and magnet boards on the wall, and many times businesses don't realize where their money leaks are, and a CRM can really help with accountability. Dave shares how stressful the roofing business can be, and emphasized how important it is to have a CRM in order to scale your business. Feedback from Jake's customers using a CRM includes benefits like organization, no more jobs falling through the cracks, better customer communication, businesses handling bigger workloads, increased closing rates, and more. Dave says the number one complaint among customers of services is lack of or poor communication from contractors. Jake explains how a CRM works. It's a web-based program with a mobile component, has a connection to Zapier (which can help with lead generation). Any interaction including your phone calls, photos shared, etc, are logged and time-stamped in Job Nimbus. Jake says there is a client component with JobNimbus which allows them to track progress, a communication component and a photo component which allows JobNimbus to become the main hub of running your business. Jake says the list of integrations with other platforms JobNimbus has is very long. Ie. Quickbooks, EagleView, etc. Jake says if you have any hope of scaling, you have to have everyone using the same processes. A CRM helps you track that. Jake explains how streamlining and tracking your processes can help you eliminate problems, which results in consistent quality on the back end, which then results in customers giving you great reviews. By effectively implementing a CRM, it will create big changes in your company and increase your bottom line. The JobNimbus charge is $25 per user per month. Dave shares that many small contractors in his mentoring program work hard, rush around putting out fires but don't make the kind of money they need to be making. Dave recommends three companies to help those smaller contractors: Ruby Receptionists to answer phone calls, Fast Easy Accounting to keep the books, and a CRM like JobNimbus to organize your processes. The JobNimbus SolutionSummit will be held in Austin, Tx, October 22-23. It will be JobNimbus and some of their key partners giving you education on how to best effect change in your company.
