Demons represent an internal conflict which, if not solved, results in possession. Being possessed by an idea creates a radical ideologue with poor mental health, and being possessed by a substance creates an ill state of physical health. This should give us some understanding of why we ‘exorcise' demons in the same way we ‘exercise' to stay healthy. Demons are, in essence, distortion, pollution, and disease of body and mind. With this understanding it is then possible to view the seemingly endless depictions of demons in movies and television. Hereditary features the demon Paimon; in the Conjuring series it is Volac; the movie It Lives Inside focuses on Piśāca, a flesh eating demon from Hindu mythology. But the movie's theme, however, is actually about love, friendship, family, sacrifice, faith, and offerings - how this demon can consume you entirely when such things are abandoned. The similarities between Piśāca and Beelzebub are obvious, with flies and decay, but even more so with the Wendigo flesh eater of First Nations people, the Djinn of Arabia, or even the Sandman. The movie Spirited Away explores Kamikakushi, and the character Kaonashi (no face) is something of one of the previous demons. He offers gold and in exchange eats the takers, along with consuming every bit of food put in front of his giant mouth. Kiedy człowiek siedzi w domu o tzw. “koncertowym suchym pysku”, to łapie pojawiające się muzyczne nowości niczym tlen w płucach. Wczoraj takim tlenem był dla mnie klip piosenki Darii Zawiałow pt. “Kaonashi“. Nie będę pisać o warstwie muzycznej, czy literackiej, ale o tym co poczułam, kiedy obejrzałam teledysk. Żyjemy obecnie w specyficznym czasie, bo z jednej strony non stop jesteśmy karmieni strachem i lękiem a z drugiej pokazujemy w mediach społecznościowych jakie to mamy wspaniałe sielskie życie. Jacy to jesteśmy aktywni, kreatywni a uśmiech nie schodzi nam z twarzy ani na chwilę. Tymczasem prawdziwość i autentyczność człowieka polega na tym, że potrafi on się przyznać sam przed sobą jak naprawdę jest. Kiedy jesteś ofiarą przemocy czy to tej fizycznej, czy psychicznej, bardzo często nie widzisz możliwości, żeby to zmienić więc tkwisz w tym schemacie dla dobra dzieci, bo przecież to jest rodzina a rodzina to świętość. Cóż… nie każda… i nie zawsze… O tym, co nas boli nie mówi się publicznie, bo nie mówi się tego nawet przyjaciołom, czy znajomym, bo to przypomina im ich własne niezagojone rany i sytuacje, o których chcieliby zapomnieć, wyprzeć ze swojej pamięci. Kiedy widzisz pojawiające się świąteczne reklamy idealnych rodzin siedzących przy stole, to zaczynasz myśleć, co ze mną jest nie tak, że moja rodzina taka nie jest? Nie patrzysz na to z dystansem, że to przecież jest reklama, która ma cię skłonić do kupienia substytutu szczęścia. Skoro co 40 sekund jakaś kobieta w Polsce doznaje przemocy domowej, to doznaje jej także w czasie świąt… które nie są takie, jak w reklamie. W teledysku bohaterka odchodzi od przemocowego męża, który ją leje. Gdzieś tam w środku, w swoim sercu nosi w sobie marzenie innego życia. I zgadzam się ze stwierdzeniem, że odejście z takiej rodziny jest dla kobiety niczym lot w kosmos, czyli praktycznie nierealne. Kiedy trafiam na sytuacje, artykuły, czy tak jak w tym przypadku na teledysk, w którym poruszany jest temat ofiary i kata, to w moim sercu od razu pojawia się pytanie: dlaczego? Co się takiego wydarzyło w życiu danego człowieka, że zostaje on katem i co sprawiło, że druga strona jest ofiarą, która podświadomie godzi się odegrać tą rolę. Bo to przecież tak nie jest, że to jest przypadek, bo przypadków nie ma. Dziecko, które doświadczyło przemocy i widziało ją w swoim domu przez całe życie nosi w sobie tą energię przemocy.
