F1, glitzy, popcorn-less premiers....But Jason has a confession to make... So does Carly.... She edited the music in the wrong place but what's Jason's??Sugar is a 2024, genre-bending contemporary take on the private detective story set in Los Angeles, it follows John Sugar, a private investigator recruited by a wealthy movie producer to investigate the disappearance of his granddaughter starring Colin Farrell, who also serves as executive producer, Amy Ryan, Dennis Boutsikaris, Nate Corddry, Alex Hernandez and James Cromwell.
The Southeastern 16 crew breaks down and offers predictions for the Oxford Regional of the 2025 NCAA baseball tournament. Topics include: Ole Miss saw bullpen improvement that offset the loss of starter Mason Nichols thanks to a bullpen of Mason Morris, Will McCausland, Walker Hooks, Cade Townsend, Hudson Calhoun and Gunnar Dennis that pitched its best at season's end. The Rebels were one of the nation's home-run leaders thanks to Austin Fawley (17), Mitchell Sanford (15 HR), Judd Utermark (16), Isaac Humphrey and Ryan Moerman (11) and Will Furniss (10). The Rebels nearly won the SEC tournament; can they carry that momentum into a home regional? Georgia Tech brings a star-studded lineup led by potential 2026 No. 1 MLB Draft pick Drew Burress, Kyle Lodise and Alex Hernandez that hit .315/416/.538 as a team. Does Tech have the pitching to bring home a regional crown? Western Kentucky is a two-seed that could be better than some threes in other regionals. The Hilltoppers were paced by Conference USA player of the year Ryan Wideman (10 HR, 45 SB) as part of a lineup that hit 70 homers and swiped 126 bases. A pitching staff of Drew Whalen, Jack Bennett, Lucas Hartman, Gavin Perry, Dawson Hall, Cal Higgins and Patrick Morris helped WKU to a 3.35 ERA, which ranked as third-best in the country. Murray State hit .301/.419/.497 as a team and might be the toughest four-seed in the field. Can the Racers slug their way to wins with Jonathan Hogart and Carson Garner (16 homers), Will Vierling (10) and crew?

80% of Champlain College graduates land jobs in their field of study—because the college designed its model to make students workforce ready. In this episode, Dr. Drumm McNaughton speaks with Alex Hernandez, President of Champlain College, about how higher education institutions can build their innovation muscle to realign academic programs with workforce needs and improve graduate outcomes. Building the Innovation Muscle Strategic planning is treated as an annual, living process—not a static document. Faculty co-design new academic models, driving institution-wide innovation. Innovation is embedded in culture, not dependent on top-down initiatives. Aligning Curriculum with Workforce Demands Champlain's Upside-Down Curriculum introduces major-specific coursework in year one. Students access internships early, building career experience before graduation. Programs are shaped by employer input to match real workforce needs. Leveraging Employer and Community Partnerships Industry partnerships inform curriculum and create pathways to employment. Dual enrollment initiatives like Vermont Cybersports expand access and impact. Regional collaboration addresses talent shortages and economic development. Three Takeaways for University Presidents and Boards Clarify the North Star – Align planning and programs around a focused mission: preparing students for work, life, and impact. Focus Resources Strategically – Prioritize high-value initiatives and say no to what doesn't serve institutional goals. Build Institutional Trust – Innovation happens at the speed of trust. Engage faculty and staff in designing the future. Higher education leaders have an opportunity to evolve their institutions through intentional planning, faculty-driven innovation, and academic realignment that prepares graduates for today's—and tomorrow's—workforce. On May 1st, 2002, 24-year-old Evelyn Hernandez was pregnant with her second son and only a week from her due date. That morning, Evelyn called one of her sisters, then dropped Alex off at pre-school, ran a few errands, picked Alex back up, and ended the night by talking to her other sister about her upcoming baby shower. it wasn't an easy pregnancy for Evelyn. She had worked as a vocational nurse, at Costco, and the Clift Hotel in San Francisco's Union Square but eventually suffered complications with her pregnancy and was on disability by the end of it. On top of that, when she was about four months pregnant, she discovered that the father of her child, 36-year-old Herman Aguilera, was hiding a huge secret from her… he was married to another woman. However, Evelyn was somehow juggling all her responsibilities and holding it all together. She was planning for the baby shower and even had a name picked out for the new baby, Fernando. But after Evelyn hangs up with her sister… as Evelyn's due date approaches… she stops answering phone calls and stops taking Alex to school. About a week after that phone call with her sister, on May 7th, Evelyn's due date, Herman Aguilera reported her and Alex missing to the police. Then, just a few weeks later, in July, Evelyn's remains were discovered in the San Francisco Bay. She had been murdered. Unfortunately, her unborn son and Alex have not been found, and the case remains unsolved. Evelyn and Alex Hernandez were last heard from around 9 p.m. on May 1, 2002, in San Francisco. Evelyn's partial remains were found on July 24, 2002, in the San Francisco Bay. She was 24 years old when she was murdered and had brown hair and brown eyes. At the time of his disappearance, five-year-old Alexis, or Alex as he was more commonly known, was four feet tall, weighed 45 pounds, and had brown hair, and brown eyes. He may also go by Alex Hernandez-Repollet. Anyone with information is urged to contact the San Francisco Police Department Cold Case Unit at (415)553-1450. Thank you to our sponsor, June's Journey. May 1, 2002. San Francisco, California. After finishing a phone call with one of her sisters, 24-year old Evelyn Hernandez and her five-year old son, Alex Hernandez, vanish without explanation. At the time, Evelyn was only six days away from giving birth to her second child, but when she fails to resurface by her due date, she is officially reported missing. Over three months later, Evelyn's torso and legs wash up onshore along San Francisco Bay, but neither Alex nor the fetus for Evelyn's unborn son, Fernando, can be found. It turns out that Fernando's biological father was a married man whom Evelyn had been having an affair with, but no evidence is found to link him or anyone else to this crime. On this week's episode of “The Trail Went Cold”, we cover a story involving a murdered mother and a missing boy which is often compared to the famous Laci & Scott Peterson case.Support the Show:Patreon.com/julesandashleyPatreon.com/thetrailwentcoldAdditional Reading:https://charleyproject.org/case/alexis-geraldo-hernandezhttps://abcnews.go.com/Primetime/story?id=131949&page=1https://people.com/archive/the-other-laci-peterson-who-killed-evelyn-hernandez-vol-60-no-1/https://www.sfgate.com/bayarea/article/Remains-may-be-S-F-woman-who-vanished-Remains-2789331.phphttps://www.sfgate.com/bayarea/article/Torso-in-bay-is-identified-DNA-matches-that-of-2802079.phphttps://www.sfgate.com/news/article/Eerily-similar-case-languishes-in-obscurity-2621215.phphttps://www.modbee.com/news/local/crime/scott-peterson-case/peterson-preliminary-trial/article3096894.htmlThis show is part of the Spreaker Prime Network, if you are interested in advertising on this podcast, contact us at https://www.spreaker.com/show/4838527/advertisement
When Champlain College President Alejandro "Alex" Hernandez is asked about the value of an education, he responds by telling the story of his family. He is the child of immigrant parents who both became school teachers in California. After Hernandez received a masters degree from Stanford, he went into finance, but eventually left to become a high school math teacher in South Central Los Angeles. He went on to become a dean and provost at the University of Virginia, and in 2022, was named president of Champlain College in Burlington.Hernandez assumes the helm of Champlain after a period of leadership turnover at the 145-year-old not-for-profit private college. He is the fourth president in four years. He has already made his mark as the college has had a record-breaking year in fundraising.Education has become central to the culture wars. In the aftermath of the U.S. Supreme Court ruling that ended race-based affirmative action this June, Hernandez must now craft a way for Champlain to champion diversity without running afoul of the law.“You're either being intentionally diverse or unintentionally exclusive,” said Hernandez. “Why is it that certain groups are not showing up to college campuses? And what is it about the colleges that we're creating that make that true?”“I've spent my entire career thinking about how do you increase access. How do you increase accessibility, and that work is never done. It's an ideal that you need to continue to pursue as a country. And it goes on for generations.”

It is widely acknowledged that disparities exist in missing person cases. When a victim fits the mold of an all-American, girl-next-door from an affluent family, their case tends to garner significantly more national attention. This reality was evident in two remarkably similar cases involving pregnant mothers that occurred in California in 2002. The divergent treatment and media coverage of these cases showed that not all victims are equal.SPONSORS -4Patriots: Thank you to 4Patriots for sponsoring this episode!
