John Disselkamp is the owner of First Class Commercial Cleaning in Louisville, KY. John was born and raised in Louisville and had a hard-working mentality. This suited him well in his early corporate life and propelled hiim to a bank executive at a young age. John won the prestigious "40 Under 40" Award during this banking stint. In this interview, John shares his transition from corporate to starting a commercial cleaning company in 2016 and growing to six-figures per month in revenue and 50 team members in under 3 years. He then lead his company to $5 million in revenue and 230 team members 3 years later. John is an American Success Story! First Class Revenue StoryYear 1 - $90kYear 2 - $350kYear 3 - $950kYear 4 - $1.4MYear 5 - $2MYear 6 - $2.4MYear 7 - $4.8MYear 8 projected- $9-$10MJohn has accomplished all of this with mental illness. Since childhood, he struggled with mental depression and anxiety. "We were in growth mode and growth sucks cash. We had intentional moves to make sure we could scale a company." John believes that investing into your business is more than just the supplies to fill an office cleaning location. It's in people and in culture. He made sure to keep relationships first, which he learned in corporate, to fuel First Class's culture. John believes that the culture he created is why First Class excelled through Covid and a labor crisis since 2020.He joined the Strategic Coach Program to up his leadership game. John was challenged with the concept of the 4 boxes that is taught in that program. John early career was spent in the box that represents something that you're good at, but don't enjoy. This is where most careers go to die. John wanted fulfillment and has found it in his cleaning company. He's good at it and enjoys it, a rare combination for adults in the working world."What makes a smart person smart or an intelligent person intelligent? It's not knowing what they know. It's knowing what they don't know. And that's always been something that I've taken to heart." "It's a pretty simple business. If you treat people well, you work hard, you do what you say you're gonna do, you're halfway decent at communicating and building relationships... You're better than most and I've still found that to be true 6 1/2 to 7 years later."John had a playbook for how to start a cleaning company and couldn't find it. He was going to St. Loius with his future wife and decided to cold call a local company to see if he could learn from then. He called Spencer Commercial Cleaning and a guy named Scott Bader answered the phone. Scott met with John for over two hours to mentor him. John is so grateful to Scott for helping to launch First Class Commercial Cleaning. John still uses the contract templates, pricing strategy, and a few other systems that Scott has taught him. The Philadelphia Phillies needed a win badly after a tough couple series away from Citizens Bank Park and that's exactly what they got. EPISODE 120: THE DEAD STILL PARTY IN NEW ORLEANS T. Fox Dunham returns from New Orleans with new ghost stories and interviews! New Orleans is the ghost city of the south, a city rich with culture and characters. In addition to the delicious cuisine, history, culture and architecture, the Big Easy is also one of the most haunted places in the world. Over the next several episodes, author T. Fox Dunham will be sharing stories of the living and the dead encountered on his trip—stories of voodoo, torture, lost souls, haunted musicians and mystical monsters. T. Fox Dunham and Phil Thomas begin episode 120 talking about the trip, then Fox shares a story about the oldest cemetery in New Orleans, St. Louis Cemetery One, known for its iconic tombs. Because the city was built on land below sea level, they can’t bury their dead, so they’ve built cities of mausoleums, necropolises where spirits still roam, drawn out by the music of the French Quarter. Then he tells Phil all about the various monsters that terrorize the bayou including the tale of the bright white Rougarou—a were-beast that punishes Catholics who violate their Lent vows. The hosts share some music from local performers including a special song sung about Fox to his wife Allison, which she dreaded! Video on the website. And they play jazz from the band Mr. & Mrs. Smith. Excited yet? Well, this is just the beginning of our summer episodes featuring the city. The hosts will be sharing more stories about one of the most haunted cities in the world: the beautiful and arduous city of New Orleans. Considered by many as the greatest coach and GM in NY Rangers history. * Inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame in 1982 * Recognized for his outstanding accomplishments in building and coaching the NY Rangers, St. Louis Blues and Hartford Whalers * Earned the Lester Patrick award in 1982 for his outstanding contributions to Hockey in the United States * Was a star netminder in both Junior and Minor leagues earning All-Star births and MVP awards. *Started his NHL career with the BlackHawks while also playing in parts of four seasons with the Rangers *Was the innovator and inventor of the first Goalie gloves designed after the baseball first baseman's mitt. *Developed leadership skills at a young age and quickly established himself as a successful coach and hockey executive with the Rangers organization starting in 1960. * Coached Jean Ratelle and Rod Gilbert at Guelph in 1960-61 * Promoted to Assistant GM in 1962 * Promoted to Head Coach and GM in 1965 * Led the Rangers to nine straight years of playoff births from 1966-67 through 1974-75 including a trip to the Stanley Cup Finals in 1972. * Coaching record of 388 wins, 273 losses, and 117 ties with the Rangers, Blues, and Whalers. * Built a team that many consider the most elite and consistent Rangers team in the modern era designed around finesse and skill but lacking in physicality. Some say it was the most elite team never to win a Stanley Cup * Built his Rangers clubs around star players Eddy Giacomin, Jean Ratelle, Rod Gilbert, Vic Hadfield, Brad Park, and Walt Tkaczuk * Was the architect of many controversial trades and transactions both successful and unsuccessful. A few examples : -Park and Ratelle for Esposito and Vadnais -Eddie Giacomini on waivers and picked up by Detroit Vic Hadfield to the Penguins -Moose Dupont, Mike Murphy, Red Berenson to St. Louis - Traded for John Davidson - Traded for Pete Stemkowski, Bruce Mcgregor, Teddy Irvine, and Bobby Rousseau

On this evening at the Waldorf Astoria, I transformed from Qool DJ Marv into the entertainer of the entertainers, Rainey Purple & the BlackerBerry Sweet Juice Orchestra. I only had to imagine what it would be like to be at a party in the 1920s. What would be the feel of an evening out? Back then, that was going to the club. http://theurbandaily.com/tv/jbarrow/qool-dj-marv-is-hbos-secret-weapon-video/ Outstanding musicianship abounds. A special thank you to spectacular pianist Peter Mintun. Every time that he took the stage, the stage was set for a change in energy and feeling. And thanks to HBO who, thankfully, confidently, feel that I'am able to envision their vision for the evening and deliver the musical atmosphere, no matter what the style or era. Imagination...action!
