"Selv gikk jeg omkring og ventet på at noe i meg skulle falle på plass. Men det som skulle falle, og plassen det skulle falle på, var ikke der." "Slutten" av Kim Hiorthøy er en roman som ser etter en ny vei ut av samfunnets stive rammer, en gruppe mennesker finner opp en ny og trassig måte å leve på, ved å oppheve all form for mening og forventninger vi finner i samfunnet. Romanens navnløse hovedperson har lenge følt at livet hans ikke faller på plass. Etter å ha hørt et foredrag på en workshop om dette nye prosjektet, flytter han inn på en nedlagt militærleir, sammen med en gruppe likesinnede for å dedikere seg til å gjøre ingenting. Det nye fellesskapet er ledet av den enigmatiske Gardar, som ønsker å leve et liv redusert til de mest grunnleggende bestanddelene. Men gruppen slites seg imellom av ulike tanker og ideer om hva det å gjøre ingenting faktisk innebærer. Den nye tilværelsen i Gardars militærleir kan lede de utvalgte til nye begynnelser for dem alle eller til ikke noe i det hele tatt, for ingenting kommer egentlig til å skje. Denne samtalen er mellom forfatteren selv og redaksjonsmedlem Simen Strand-Pedersen. De diskuterer romanens handling, tematikk og hvordan romanen passer inn i Hiorthøys større forfatterskap. Kim Hiorthøy (f.1973) er en av landets mest profilerte multikunstnere, som forfatter, billedkunstner, musiker og grafisk designer. Han har illustrert bøker for Erling Loe og laget platecover for Motorpsycho. Han har vært programleder på NRK og regissert filmen The Rules for Everything.

Ein alter Bekannter aus dem VISIONS-Kosmos ist zu Gast in “Der Soundtrack meines Lebens”: Bassist und Sänger Bent Saether, Co-Gründer von Motorpsycho aus Trondheim. Im Februar 2001, auf dem Cover von VISIONS #91 grinst Bent Saether schief in die Kamera. Es ist das erste Mal und bis heute einzige Mal, dass Motorpsycho auf dem Titel sind. Dabei prägen sie das Heftgeschehen seit den frühen 90ern. Die unfassbar variable wie produktive Band aus dem norwegischen Trondheim und VISIONS war immer eng miteinander verbunden. Naheliegend also, Saether für ein ausführliches Gespräch zum Podcast “Der Soundtrack meines Lebens” einzuladen. Saether kommt im Februar 1969 in Oslo zu Welt und wächst zunächst im Osloer Stadtteil Ammerud auf, bevor er mit seiner Familie in die ländlichen Ortschaften Ski und mit zehn Jahren auf einen Bauernhof in Snåsa zieht. Auf die weiterführende Schule geht er in Steinkjer, um fürs Studium an die Technisch-Naturwissenschaftliche Universität nach Trondheim zu ziehen. Er belegt Englisch und Sozialanthropologie. Zu diesem Zeitpunkt ist er längst Musiker. Mit 20 Jahren gründet Saether die Band Motorpsycho mit Gitarrist und Sänger Hans Magnus Ryan und Schlagzeuger Kjell Runar Jenssen. Saether singt ebenfalls, spielt vornehmlich Bass und schreibt Songs am Fließband. In den vergangenen 37 Jahren haben nur die Schlagzeuger und kreativen Kooperationspartner mehrmals gewechselt, im Kern sind Motorpsycho Saether und Ryan. Wie die beiden sich kennengelernt haben, davon berichtet Saether im Gespräch mit Host Jan Schwarzkamp. Seitdem die beiden in kreativer Ehe leben, kennt das musikalische Universum von Motorpsycho keine Grenzen. Was ursprünglich irgendwo zwischen Grunge, Metal und Noise begonnen hat, passt längst in keine Schublade mehr. Seit ihrer Gründung vergeht kaum ein Jahr, in dem nicht wenigstens ein Tonträger erscheint. Auf ihren, Stand jetzt, 29 Alben, vier Album-Kooperationen, sieben Live-Alben, 24 EPs und diversen Singles und mehreren Compilations haben Motorpsycho sich an vielem erfolgreich ausprobiert: Jazz, Country, Westcoast-Pop, Folk, Indierock, Psychedelic, Post-Rock, Prog, Punk, Avantgarde und unzählige Cover-Versionen. Und für den 27. März haben sie mit "The Gaia II Space Corps" bereits das nächste Album angekündigt. In ihrer Heimat sind sie mit ihrem Œuvre, wenn nicht zu Stars, so doch zu musikalischen Nationalhelden geworden, ausgezeichnet mit Preisen und oberen Charts-Platzierungen, europaweit haben sie sich eine treue Anhängerschaft erspielt mit Fans, die ergeben und bisweilen verzweifelt versuchen, alle Tonträger der Band zusammenzutragen. Nebenbei ist Saether auf den ersten drei Alben der Heavy-Rock-Band Spidergawd und auf diversen Platten der Americana-Band Sugarfoot zu hören, außerdem arbeitet er gelegentlich als Produzent anderer norwegischer Bands. Er lebt mit seiner Familie in Trondheim.Auf Tour zum 2025er Album "Motorpsycho" haben wir Saether in den Backstage-Katakomben des Berliner Columbiatheaters getroffen, wo er ausschweifend, sympathisch und nerdig-fundiert seine musikalische Sozialisation aufarbeitet, immer auch mit Verweis darauf, in welcher Phase Motorpsycho sich von was haben inspirieren lassen. Velg et band dere har trua på. Det var oppdraget Radio Rock-redaksjonen fikk i forkant av by:larm i fjor. Vi landet på albumaktuelle Suncraft, og her får du møte en av tre gitarister i bandet: Vebjørn Krogstad fra Melhus. Tre gitarister, akkurat som i Iron Maiden? Hva er fordelene/ulempene med en ekstra øks i bandet? Hvordan tok Vebjørn til fornuft og la fra seg trekkspillet til fordel for gitaren? El 2025 ha estat un any estrany. He escoltat molta música i han sortit discos molt bons, però no n'he sigut plenament conscient fins que no he preparat aquest episodi. Hi ha tants discos per compartir que he hagut de dividir el programa en dues parts. Tampoc m'havia adonat, fins ara, que aquest és el primer programa de la cinquena temporada. Aquí teniu la primera part: cançons que m'agraden molt i que han sonat moltes vegades al cotxe, al reproductor de música portàtil i també a casa. No hi ha gaire misteri: 25 cançons del 2025. En aquesta primera entrega hi trobareu 12 discos publicats el 2025 i un del 2017 que ve molt a tomb. En total sonen una vintena aproximada de cançons. The boys are back and this week they are taking a look at the works of the man who loved boobs more than anyone else Russ Meyer. They will be looking at Motorpsycho, Fater Pussycat Kill Kill, and Beyond the Valley of the Dolls.

Det er flere i musikk-Norge som griner på Maiden-konsert. Bli med til øvingsrommet på Rotvoll og møt Stian Lundberg. Blidfisen er ikke den som stikker seg fram veldig ofte. Kanskje mest fordi han, som oftest, sitter bak trommene i utallige band og teaterforestillinger. Johndoe er vel bandet han har spilt i lengst og den gjengen er for tiden i ferd med å røre på seg igjen, til tross for at Stian har oppdrag så det monner. Det er jazz, rock, country, teater, undervisning og what not. Når Motorpsycho trenger vikar er det gjerne Stian de plinger på. Det er også soloprosjekt (sjekk ut "Stian Lundberg" på en strømmetjeneste nær deg), det er Ida Jenshus, det er Charlie Rackstead and the Sticklesbergen Ramblers, Sugarfoot, Moving Oos, Rasmus Rohde og noe jazz her og der. Her viser det seg at Stian og undertegnede har bortimot kliss lik oppvekst når det gjelder Maiden: No Prayer for The Dying, Fear of the Dark, 80-tallskatalogen - deretter en pause i Blaze-æraen før det ble grinings på konsert i 1999. Deler han pallen med kompis Kenneth Kapstad om tittelen "verdens største Nicko-fan"?

Harry Kappen is a Dutch musician and musictherapist. His first love is the guitar, but gradually he discovered the bass. Now you can safely call him a multi-instrumentalist. His work as a music therapist requires him to be able to play a variety of instruments, including voice, in order to connect with his clients in different ways. This is necessary both in the treatment of individual clients and in system therapy (for example, in dysfunctional families). On his latest album 'Escape' and seperate single 'Wargames' he sings and plays every instrument himself in combination with the use of digital sounds from Logic Pro. Harry played in many bands in the Netherlands and throughout Europe. He composed his first song when he was 10 years old. He played with his sister Hanneke in Kapsonic and released an album with her about 6 years ago, called 'Kapsonic'. Harry is an admirer of David Bowie, Paul McCartney, Prince, Radiohead, Scandinavian pop music by Björk and Motorpsycho. Sometimes their music reflects in Harry's eclectic music. In spring '22 he self-released an album called 'Escape'. 'Barefoot in the dew' was the only single from this album so far. The Escape album is a concept album. With songs about escaping reality, escaping violence, even life, escaping into love, dreams or art. It became a personal journey with personal lyrics. Then in the spring Russia attacked Ukraine and the atmosphere in Europe changed completely. During the summer, Harry realized that there were no protest songs in the Dutch charts. In general you could say that musicians do not speak out against abuses and threats, while there is reason enough to protest, you would think. (Ukrainian war, climate change, fake news, ignorance, etc). How different it was in the 60s and 70s during the Vietnam War. So Harry made a new song and released it a few weeks ago. Hence 'Wargames'. Harry Kappen (HK) is an independant Dutch musician and music therapist. He is an experienced musician, a multi-instrumentalist, who played in many bands in the Netherlands and as a producer he worked with a lot of Dutch popbands. Since he was young he composed hundreds of songs, for his own bands or just for fun and sometimes for events or for Dutch television. HK is an admirer of David Bowie, Paul McCartney, Prince, Radiohead, Scandinavian pop music by Bjork, Motorpsycho and a lot more. Sometimes their music reflects in Harry's eclectic music.HK plays, writes and produces his music by himself in his home studio.Last year Harry released his album 'Escape' and a seperate single 'Wargames'. Both were received very well and got rave and enthusiastic reviews all over the world. HK is known for his contemplative, sometimes politically critical lyrics. 'Wargames' was received as a modern protestsong against the Ukrain war. As a music therapist HK helps youngsters and adolescents to cope with a variety of problems in a institution for youth care; problems caused bij development disorders or/ and behaviour disorders. The fact that he is a multi-instrumentalist comes very handy in his work as music therapist; it's important to be able to connect musically with a client quite quickly on every instrument. Also he helps families who are struggeling with disfunctional paterns. Music therapy is a great way to make these paterns audible and curable.Besides his work as music therapist he works as a lecturer on an international master's degree in music therapy in Rotterdam in the Netherlands (Codarts).'The Freedom Inside'Now he is releasing a new single as a preview of his new album which will be released later this year, around the summer. 'The Freedom Inside' is also critical, but has a more positive vibe. 'Don't try to change the world, but change yourself first' is the message. We all know we live in troubling times with war, climate change, indifference etc. There's a lot of complaining everywhere (social media!) and declining trust in governments.
