Welcome to Season 5 of the More Math for More People podcast!!!What if high school mathematics could be truly transformed into something students find engaging, meaningful, and applicable to their lives? In this thought-provoking conversation with mathematics education experts Kris Cunningham and Kristi Martin, we dive deep into the possibilities presented in the NCTM publication "High School Mathematics Reimagined, Revitalized, and Relevant."The discussion opens doors to a reimagined approach to high school mathematics that moves beyond the traditional curriculum model. Both guests highlight the importance of mathematical modeling as a pathway to authentic learning experiences where students tackle complex, multi-variable problems without predetermined solutions. This creates space for creative thinking and problem-solving skills that transcend the classroom. However, transformation doesn't come without challenges. Kristi candidly shares her classroom experiences of struggling to surface the mathematical concepts within engaging modeling activities and the difficulty of finding relevant problems that align with required standards. Kris emphasizes the need for systemic support, including administrative understanding and professional development opportunities that give teachers space to experiment and grow.Perhaps most powerfully, both educators stress the importance of persistence through inevitable frustrations. "If you believe in it and know it's great for students, just keep trying," Kristi encourages, reminding listeners that transformation is a journey rather than a destination. The conversation serves as both inspiration and practical roadmap for anyone interested in creating mathematics education that truly prepares students for their futures rather than simply repeating practices of the past.Send Joel and Misty a message! The More Math for More People Podcast is produced by CPM Educational Program. Join us on the More Math for More People podcast as we celebrate National Monte Cristo Day with a fun-filled exploration of this delectable sandwich and its (supposed) ties to Omaha (spoiler alert - not true). We reminisce about our own encounters with the Monte Cristo, including the sad demise of a local favorite, and even indulge in some playful speculation about its connection to Alexandre Dumas' "The Count of Monte Cristo." Next, we're thrilled to welcome Dr. Jenny Bay-Williams, a distinguished professor from the University of Louisville, who joins us to unravel mathematical fluency. Jenny shares her wealth of experience in math education, emphasizing that fluency is much more than speed or automaticity—it's about reasoning, making smart choices, and choosing efficient strategies for problem-solving. Through  examples of fraction addition, she demonstrates how true mathematical fluency involves navigating multiple approaches to find the best solution. This is part 1 of our conversation with her. You can connect with Dr Bay-Williams on X: @JBayWilliams To wrap up, we introduce CPM Educational Program's "Instructional Coaching Toolkit," a must-have resource for instructional coaches and leaders. Mastermind Myths Unlocked

Today, I'm bringing you this episode from the launch of The Mastermind Model! It's perfect timing, as I've been having so many conversations with my community on the different beliefs around masterminds. You may have been told certain things about masterminds or heard them online, and unfortunately a lot of ideas that get around aren't necessarily true. So, today I'm going to debunk some common myths surrounding masterminds. Myth #1: A Mastermind is All About the Peer Experience with No Curriculum or LearningContrary to popular belief, a best practice mastermind incorporates both a peer experience and a curriculum or learning component. We'll explore why relying solely on the peer experience is risky, and why they make our clients' ROI's hard to track. I also talk through just how crucial it is to be crystal clear about your ideal clients' outcome and offer a hybrid experience, where your role is as facilitator AND coach or mentor. Myth #2: A Mastermind Can Only Be Business-to-Business (B2B)While there is a blurred line between what constitutes a mastermind and a group program, it is possible to have a business-to-consumer (B2C) mastermind. The key distinction lies in the focus and structure of the program. I talk through the differences between the two, and explain how to define your program to align with the expectations of your target audience.Myth #3: A Mastermind Can't Provide the Same Level of Service or Results as One-to-One CoachingI truly used to believe that one of the reasons I couldn't transition from one-to-one to a mastermind was that I couldn't possibly help my clients get as good results. However, I quickly found that to be completely untrue. Not only did the mastermind actually reduce the amount of time I spent providing information to clients, I actually saw my clients achieve better results than in the one-to-one coaching setting. I give you the insights on how you can reach more people without spending more time or sacrificing the quality of your service through masterminds. Myth #4: Holding Space for More People in a Mastermind Means More WorkNow, I have a real-life example for you to debunk this prevalent myth. While brainstorming with my husband on ideas for this episode, he immediately said, “People need to know that you can work with more people, but it's less work.” How was he so sure of this? Well, he saw it happen for me! When you have this container that is set for scale, you have the opportunity to utilise the power of the group and the systems that you create - something we teach you all about throughout The Mastermind Model.Myth #5: It's Hard to Sell a Mastermind in 2024Given the current economic and market conditions, so many people believe that selling a mastermind in 2024 is challenging. While it's true that the landscape is evolving, it is still possible to sell and thrive with a mastermind. The key lies in having an exceptional offer that addresses your ideal clients' specific challenges and desires. We'll explore different strategies you can implement to ensure that you have clearly identified the problem you are solving for your ideal clients and that your offer aligns with their needs. A mastermind is an amazing way to support and scale your business, and I encourage you to explore how you can incorporate this model to not only get better results for your clients, but to achieve more time and freedom in your every day!Note: If you're listening to this episode on release day, it's your last day to join The Mastermind Model, so click the link below and join us today. In this lesson we cover QSource Foundation 3 (F3): Group, A Voluntary Combination of Two or More People. QSource is F3's leadership philosophy and it is designed to be used by F3 members to improve their leadership skills for the benefit of their families, workplaces, and neighborhoods, BUT QSource is based on timeless principles useful for any group that wants to improve leadership skills. Leadership is a skill that a person must learn and master during their lifetime. Because it is a skill, a person must commit to learning to lead in the same way that you would learn anything, with practice. The degree to which you will ultimately master it will depend both upon your natural ability and your willingness to practice. Because we are all born with some leadership ability, even a man with very little natural skill can still be an effective leader if he is willing to practice hard. But a man who will not practice at all will never master the skill. The decision to become an effective leader is your choice. No one else can make it for you.

We continue our discussion on SE Asian Coffee with Will Frith. We get into the history and rise of Vietnamese Coffee and it's modernization. Will Frith is an American of Vietnamese descent who grew up in Texas. He first came to Vietnam in 2004 to meet his maternal grandparents, and has subsequently split his time between Ho Chi Minh City (Saigon) and the Pacific Northwest of the United States. He got his start in the coffee business as a barista at MOD Coffeehouse in Galveston, Texas. In 2007 he was hired as a Production Assistant at Batdorf & Bronson Coffee Roasters (now Dancing Goats Coffee) in Olympia, Washington, and would eventually become Production Roaster and QC Specialist at Olympia Coffee Roasters. In 2013 he moved to Vietnam to contribute to the development of specialty arabica. He is largely credited with sparking a movement in specialty coffee there. With the exception of a year at The New Black in Singapore and three years with Modbar as its west coast US rep, he has since lived and worked in Saigon, dedicated to changing the way the world views Vietnam's coffee. In 2019 he co-founded Saigon-based Building Coffee, a coffee company at origin that believes in Better Coffee for More People. He opened Building Coffee's flagship cafe BEL with Building Coffee partner Kel Norman in 2021. Ed Leebrick, owner of Seattle's legendary Lighthouse Roasters, joined Building Coffee in 2021. The brand launched in the USA at the Specialty Coffee Association's 2023 Expo in Portland, OR. #coffee #coffeepeople #vietnam #vietnamesecoffee

Creating Visibility & Awareness for Your Next Offer Hey there, listener!  You're going to want a pencil and paper for this one. I'm answering one of my most frequently asked questions. How do I get MORE People to see my content? People to hear my message? Sales? Clients? Leads on clients? I'll take this episode to share five ways to create visibility and awareness around your next offer. It's not just tips and tricks this time! Short term wins are great, but long-term awareness around your business and brand is our focus today. Key Takeaways If you're on the go and can't take notes, grab my free printable checklist here https://view.flodesk.com/pages/62fd7479a72e507348a31c3b Define First, define this thing you need more exposure around. WHAT is it? WHY is it worth featuring? HOW will followers reach your product or service? Do a big brain dump of everything you can think of related to these questions. Get clear about the problem you want to solve and the people you want to serve. Format Consider all of the potential formats OTHER than social media to get the word out. What about podcasting- either on your own or as a guest? Speaking of being a guest, is there someone you could pair with to do an Instagram stories takeover?  Create in-person brand awareness. I have my business logo on my vehicle, for example. I gifted my clients an MKM tumbler for their birthday. It helps to keep you on their mind! Long form first Yes. I, social media strategist, am telling you that long form is the place to start. Create an evergreen piece of content like a blog post or email newsletter to anchor your outside social media. It's okay to only update once a month, but have something there. It's your place to connect on an emotional level. Where can you share? Ask yourself who you could tag to increase visibility. Maybe it is an organization that benefits from your product Just be a person, honestly. Interact genuinely with others on your feeds and channels. Hacks! Okay, so I squeezed some quick tips in. I know my listeners love those! Share to your personal social media. I don't do this often, so when I do, it's a big deal! Jump on a trend if it fits your product or service. I loved the recent “Little Miss” memes. If that's to cutesy for your brand, leave it. Carry a business card. Reach out and ask for a collaboration. Shoot your shot! (Omigoodness guys, I did this recently and have SUCH a great podcast guest coming up!) How can I help? Sign up for Social by MKM! You can participate one month at a time or join for the rest of the year for a great rate. This September we're focusing on getting your business ready for the holidays.
